BeBlueShaker · 06/04/2025 10:37

Already have a Cassiopeia Pearl who goes by Cassie, what would you name her sibling? (we don't know the gender yet)

I'm currently loving the nickname Queenie but am looking for a more formal name, so far have Quinn and Juno (which means queen)

Other names we have been considering:

  • Beauregard/Beaumont nickname Bowie
  • Nicodemus nickname Nico
  • Hugo
  • Roman
  • Kit (as a nickname)
  • Eden
  • Indigo
  • Gwendolen nickname gwennie

This could take off.

No. It’s actually one of the nicer names on this thread.

When I see name threads I always wonder why siblings have to have matching names. I often think that children should have the ability to change their name when older ( I know they can ) but all the stress of choosing a name often results in a child who hates their parents need for individuality. My DSis hated her name throughout her life and would only answer to a derivative of it. As an adult most of her friends never knew her full name as a result.
Also, choosing a name to match/go with their older sibling is a real problem for them. They feel like an add on rather than an individual.

Since your first child is named after a constellation why not name your second one similarly. Or after another Ethiopian king or queen if you insist on a theme.

Well some of mine were jokes but actually I think Scheherazade is quite a pretty name- like the storyteller. Scheherazade Goldsmith carried it ok I thought …

I love Cassiopeia, my daughter was originally going to be Cassie and I like the idea of calling her Cassiopeia.

I like Eden and Bowie from your list although I'm not sure about Beauregard.

How about Juno Longmiddle, like Juno Laetitia or Juno Gwendolen or Juno Ceridwen? It will fit with Cassiopeia Pearl.

I also like Nicolina - South Slavic/Italian feminine version of Nicholas

also - Endymion, Julian, Valerian, Frederick, Balthazar, Oberon, Gregory, Caspian...

It’s not that sibling names need to match, but they need to “speak the same language”. Although, sometimes when there’s a big age gap between children, you can tell the mum’s taste has changed massively. You get a 15 year old daughter Lauren followed by a baby Daenerys for example.

I’ve got an image of a mum dressed in Lucy & Yak dungarees and Birkenstocks shouting across a park ‘Cassiopeia come and eat your homemade vegan tartlet darling’, am I wrong?

You're absolutely spot on 😂😂😂

Although, my 'op' is more upper working class but desperate to be considered "middle " (upper middle if you will) so she lives in a semi detached new build but if anyone at work asks it's "semi rural" , near the "snobby" school of course. she still likes to keep in touch with her roots though , with a night out on the fizz , where all the real her will come tumbling out 😉 also likes to keep her working class friends so she can feel superior calling , "cassieopia ! Arty dahling, gentle hands, gentle hands , thats it , good dahling !"
