Sibling for Cassiopeia

BeBlueShaker · 06/04/2025 10:37

Already have a Cassiopeia Pearl who goes by Cassie, what would you name her sibling? (we don't know the gender yet)

I'm currently loving the nickname Queenie but am looking for a more formal name, so far have Quinn and Juno (which means queen)

Other names we have been considering:

  • Beauregard/Beaumont nickname Bowie
  • Nicodemus nickname Nico
  • Hugo
  • Roman
  • Kit (as a nickname)
  • Eden
  • Indigo
  • Gwendolen nickname gwennie

I like Niko, Quentin and Roman for a boy

For a girl, Victoria (nn Queenie) or Juno are lovely

It’s absolutely littered with spite towards people seemingly “getting above themselves”

What a ridiculous assumption?
It's concern for the poor people who get saddled with these names. It's all very well the op loving unusual and rather pretentious names, but she isn't the one who has to live with the consequences. I had a name of this type inflicted on me. I changed it as soon as I could but by then the damage had been done! Primary school was fine but I was bullied mercilessly for it at my (independent) secondary.
I mean cassieopeia will be Cassie 'o' pisser, Cassie pees through her 'o'
,,, Irresistible target for 12 to 14 year old boys!

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 09/04/2025 07:13

How about Marigold - Goldie

I don’t think kids think about things in such a complex way.

All I can think of hearing Nicodemus is ‘Chaka Demus and Pliers’ 😂 sorry!

That was my first thought!

Can’t believe this thread.

l used to teach in a very posh school. All the girls were called Eleanor or Isabel. The boys were Noah or Edward.

l never came across any of the names on this thread.

Worse still Regina Elizabeth !

Thosd are the only suggestions ( none of them Op’s) that I think go too far ie; things that directly sound like you are titling them as a ruler or Emperor. This is normally the combination of names.

Julius fine. Augustus fine. Elizabeth fine. But something like Julius Augustus or Queenie Elizabeth gets silly and I’m afraid Napoleon falls in that category even on its own for me.

What does you having taught at a ‘posh’ school have to do with the op looking for classic, underused names?

Not all parents (or children) want to be called Noah or Izzy…!!

Why can’t you ‘believe’ this thread?

OP isn’t looking for classic names. She’s looking for classical names, which is different. Classic names that are currently underused are things like Mary, Jane, Margaret, John, David, Peter. But those aren’t flamboyant enough for OP.

Bluelavenders · 09/04/2025 12:22

But I still don’t see how the comment about the ‘posh’ school and the dull names used there (Noah, Isabel etc) is connected to the op’s quest for classical names?!

I just thought some of the names on here were daft. And aspiring to be something they’re not.

ThisFluentBiscuit · 12/04/2025 21:50

The only possible choice for Cassiopeia's sibling is Tapioca! 🤣

ThisFluentBiscuit · 12/04/2025 21:51

If you call your son Beauregard he will never, ever forgive you, and quite right too.

If you like Bowie as a nickname, how about Beau as a first name?

ThisFluentBiscuit · 12/04/2025 21:54

minnienono · 06/04/2025 11:51

Victoria is the normal proper name for Queenie as it was popular in the 19th century.

Orion staying with the constellation theme, Pegasus?

If a constellation theme is needed, just call the baby The Big Dipper! 🤣

DuckieDodgyHedgyPiggy · 12/04/2025 21:56

I immediately thought of Ariadne.

ThisFluentBiscuit · 12/04/2025 22:03

Since you seem to like names that are very upper-class, how about Abelard for a boy, and Araminta for a girl?

Adelaide is also quite rare, and since there was a Queen Adelaide, you could call her Queenie.

For a girl, Scheherazade or Lettice. Or Christl. It's an old aristocratic German name that means Christlike and is pronounced Chrissle.

I love Ianthe and Persephone.

I have always liked the name Ptolemy, but probably woudn't use it.

Sebastian, Demetrius and Lysander are other suggestions.

@Playmobil4Eva
I've had mixed responses on Queenie, however it's a family name which I would love to use, this is why I'm trying to find a more formal name as well

Queenie was popular in the 1900s as a nickname so it’s reminding me fondly of my great aunts and their posse

Juno works well, or any other queenly reference I guess - Titania, Victoria, Elizabeth, Cleopatra, Boudicca, Augusta, Sheba - or Mary or some variation of it like Marianne (I think some of the elderly Queenies were probably Mary as in the Queen of Heaven)

GiddyCrab · 14/04/2025 23:28

Persephone
Jacinta
Clementine
Octavia
Atticus
Leviathan
Montgomery
Wyndham
