Sibling for Cassiopeia

BeBlueShaker · 06/04/2025 10:37

Already have a Cassiopeia Pearl who goes by Cassie, what would you name her sibling? (we don't know the gender yet)

I'm currently loving the nickname Queenie but am looking for a more formal name, so far have Quinn and Juno (which means queen)

Other names we have been considering:

  • Beauregard/Beaumont nickname Bowie
  • Nicodemus nickname Nico
  • Hugo
  • Roman
  • Kit (as a nickname)
  • Eden
  • Indigo
  • Gwendolen nickname gwennie
OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Gwenllian is less harsh sounding than Gwendolen. But you'd have to pronounce it correctly!

1SillySossij · 06/04/2025 12:19

Crikey! Do you hate your kids?

meridiana · 06/04/2025 12:32

Indigo

Beauregard is a place name , OP. It’s a slightly more posh and antique version of Bellevue. If he ever goes to France , people will be falling around laughing.

  • Roman - not keen
  • Kit (as a nickname) - nickname for what Christopher, or maybe
  • Kristoff is a Scandinavian boy's name of Greek origin that means "bearing Christ."
  • Eden - like it a lot but prefer Hope, Harmony or Liberty (Libby for short)
  • Indigo - not keen
  • Gwendolen nickname gwennie- not keen

How about

Hercules or Perseus for a boy.

Astra or Aurora for a girl.

Congratulations.

I think Nicodemus goes well

All I can think of hearing Nicodemus is ‘Chaka Demus and Pliers’ 😂 sorry!

I've never heard Beauregard before, how is it pronounced?

Why bother with a formal name if you know you're going to use a nickname?

From your list I like Gwendolen but nn Gwen.

Boys: Caesar, Tybalt, Crispin

Beauregard just sounds like the word beau plus the word regard, minus the d.

In dialect it might sound like "Barraga" with the stress on the first syllable - there's a hill near me named Beauregard/Barraga.

I think it sounds more like the name of a village or even of a bungalow than a person.

I quite like Nicodemus. I once taught a Nicodème.

Sticking with the star theme...

Altair

Andromeda - Andie

Electra

Lyra

Mimosa - Mimi

Mira

Orion

Perseus - Percy

Regulus - Reggie

Sirius

Talitha

Queenie - options for names

Artemisia

Beatrice/Beatrix - Queen Bee

Boudega/Boudicca (She who brings victory)

Elizabeth

Gwendolyn - can be Queenie (Queenie comes from Cwen Old English for Queen or Woman)

Also Guinevere, Gwenllian, Gweneira.

https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/Reconstruction:Proto-Germanic/kw%C4%93niz

Hera

Regina

Victoria

Winifred - Winnie - Queenie (same root as Gwen from Breton Gwenvred)

Zenobia

Agree with the poster who things Queenie is brassy makes me things of a gay man, which is fine, but not something I'd name a young girl.

Aurora would match your sky theme.

I've had mixed responses on Queenie, however it's a family name which I would love to use, this is why I'm trying to find a more formal name as well

Quintessa

LootLlama · 06/04/2025 13:37

This has to be a wind up? Cassiopeia? Why would you do that to your child? These are all truly awful names.

Yes surely a wind up? Just why would you?

Latenightreader · 06/04/2025 13:50

We had two Queenies in my family (one born 1913, and early 1920s) One was a nickname for Sarah, the other Ruth I think.

SingtotheCat · 06/04/2025 14:52

Anastasia

Beauregard as in Violet Beauregard from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? That's a bit out there...

My first thought too with Beauregard- think a lot of people will just think of this too!
Love Cassiopeia- always makes me think of Bandit saying it in Bluey episode the creek!
What about Thalia?

A few in our family back through the years. East End families. I think (and it’s true of our family) it was used for those named after the Queen of the time (so there was a sibling of my Nan, called Alexandra and a later Aunt called Mary).

Bluelavenders · 06/04/2025 15:24

I’m not keen on Queenie but like the suggestions of
Victoria
Juno
Tabitha

For a boy I like the suggestions of
Roman
Quentin
Nico

Traditionally Queenie was a nickname for a girl who shared her Christian name with the Queen of the day. So in this situation, Camilla would be the ‘correct’ name to give a nickname of Queenie.

Otherwise there are names from every culture meaning Queen. Regina or Rhiannon, for example.

BottleBlondeMachiavelli · 06/04/2025 15:28

How about Ludovic?

HeySnoodie · 06/04/2025 15:28

Kit or Tristan

SquashedMallow · 06/04/2025 15:29

Are you by any chance trying to prove how 'refined' you are ? Not like those old chavvy town folk ...

Hysterectomynext · 06/04/2025 15:33

Jaxxson nn axxon?
