Sibling for Cassiopeia

BeBlueShaker · 06/04/2025 10:37

Already have a Cassiopeia Pearl who goes by Cassie, what would you name her sibling? (we don't know the gender yet)

I'm currently loving the nickname Queenie but am looking for a more formal name, so far have Quinn and Juno (which means queen)

Other names we have been considering:

  • Beauregard/Beaumont nickname Bowie
  • Nicodemus nickname Nico
  • Hugo
  • Roman
  • Kit (as a nickname)
  • Eden
  • Indigo
  • Gwendolen nickname gwennie
OP posts:

I have never met a child in this neck of the woods with any of these names .

I thought it was just me 🤣

Imagine in a few years your little Isla coming to you and saying WHY didn’t you call me something cool like Queenie , Nicodemus or Beauregard like my friends at preschool !

Some of the names in this thread are NEVER gonna be on a water bottle in Skegness 😀

Wren and Teddy, on the other hand...😂

I do wonder if the people who are suggesting these awful names would call their own child them ?!

I really don't think the OP will be taking little Artemis perplexus to Skeggy , do you ? 😉

I expect they'll save every penny and get a quick quid loan to rent a hostel in Dubai for 3 nights , so they can take insta evidence "come on Artemis and cassieopenia - smile! Smile! We need everyone to know we're soooo middle class in Dubai!"

When actually, what the real rich kids do is go trekking in wales for 2weeks !

I thought Queenie was traditionally a Nn for Regina - which I personally don’t like as at school we called a Regina “ Rah- guy-na” so it rhymes with Vagina ( which is sort of triggered by having the same spelling tbf). It’s obviously not how Regina is pronounced but children will be children and I still say Regeena Raguyna under my breath when I see it written.

NewAgeNewMe · 06/04/2025 17:23

I have a horrible name named for my grandmother. My one regret in life is not changing it as it would have upset my family. Don’t give your kids try hard names.

  • Beauregard/Beaumont nickname Bowie - not keen
  • Nicodemus nickname Nico - Love it. Beautiful.
  • Hugo - Not bad but I prefer Hugh
  • Roman - not keen
  • Kit (as a nickname) - nickname for what Christopher, or maybe
  • Kristoff is a Scandinavian boy's name of Greek origin that means "bearing Christ."
  • Eden - like it a lot but prefer Hope, Harmony or Liberty (Libby for short)
  • Indigo - not keen
  • Gwendolen nickname gwennie- not keen

I actually love Nicodemus too.

Artemis.

I knew an Arty growing up ( boy, from Arthur). He was always Farty Arty then later did a BA degree so was then Arty Farty.

Regina does indeed rhyme with vagina.

Wren and Teddy, on the other hand...😂

Wren is fine I think. New, but fine.

Ted is a solid and well established diminutive for Edward or Theodore.

I think our Regina was really Rah-gee-na( German parents).

Calliopespa · 06/04/2025 17:34

But if you say it ReGYna with the emphasis on the gy so you hardly hear the R vs V it is enormous fun for a class of giggly girls.

Sorry Eta cos autocorrect is having none of this !

I know what Ted is traditionally a diminutive of.
I also know that Wren is new.
What I am commenting on is the popularity of those names, especially Teddy, as given names.
Thus shops selling items with names on may well profit from Teddy and Wren as opposed to,say, Cassiopeia or Beauregard.

suah · 06/04/2025 17:35

Juno (which means queen)

No it doesn’t.

Onlyonekenobe · 06/04/2025 17:35

I also thought Chaka Demus and Pliers with Nicodemus!

Queenie is cute, and it doesn’t necessarily have to relate to the given name. My DC have nicknames that relate to their baby personalities.

Oh I see. I thought you were saying they were just as OTT.

Cassiopeia is actually pretty op but I’m not sure about some of the Queenie and Beauregard options …

It follows on from the poster, whom I quoted, whose final line referred to names on water bottles in Skegness.

Vitrolinsanity · 06/04/2025 17:40

Ah. It’s such a lot to think about when naming across two cultures. My name has a distinct German pronunciation, too. Nicer than the English one TBH, but it’s not me.

Calliopespa · 06/04/2025 17:47

How about just going all out with Caesar Augustus and be done with it …
