Aubree or Kaydence?

Amandawest447 · 20/05/2022 16:38

i do prefer modern names, the old fashioned lily, Olivia, etc isn’t really my style. My husband likes aubree which I think is adorable but I think it’s becoming a lot more commonly used now and I like Kaydence because I think it’s more unusual. Neither are that common in England but that dosent bother me. Which one? Middle name will be Skye

Honestly both of then look like you can’t spell. She’ll be constantly correcting people to use ‘her’ spelling and it will be a problem her entire life.

It’s Aubrey and Cadence. If you don’t like the usual spellings, consider using a different name.

And Skye is way nicer than either 😬

Flaunch · 20/05/2022 19:47

Kaydence is an absolutely hideous spelling. Aubree is even worse.

Cadence & Aubrey.

bakewellbride · 20/05/2022 19:50

Lily and Olivia aren't old-fashioned, they are current and very popular now so I find that odd. Not a fan of the dodgy spellings as it could make things unnecessarily complicated for the child but each to their own.

EveSix · 20/05/2022 19:53

Fluffy, Aubrey does have a -ree sound at the end; Aubrey Beardsley, for example.

Both Aubrey and Cadence are nice. Your spellings do them a disservice. However, some parents do enjoy experimenting with alternative spellings so you may find 'your people' in RL, ready to appreciate your creativity. Meanwhile, MN will never look kindly on contrived spellings.

calmlakes · 20/05/2022 19:54

Kaydence is really awful, Cadence isn't a great name but at least is spelt correctly.
I'm dyslexic to it takes a really bad spelling for me to notice it.
You are setting your dc up for a life of having to correct people and people wondering why her parents couldn't or wouldn't spell.

AndAsIfByMagic · 20/05/2022 19:55

They aren't so much modern as Chav - surely you realise that?

Poor kid.

viques · 20/05/2022 19:55

Aubree is Awbawful. Even spelled properly. I would assume you were aiming for Audrey, which is lovely, and sadly got it wrong.

Kaydence hits all the wrong notes. Cadence just about passes muster as a name, but you-neeq spellings are so uncool these days. Maybe in another fifty years when children are called #MI33%* it will be seen as something daring to spell a name using letters and by then so few people will be able to spell it won’t matter how you spell the name.

Bournetilly · 20/05/2022 20:01

‘A boy would be bullied if he had a name like Ashley or Addison nowadays because of your under 30 the image it creates in your head is a girl…’

A boy would not be bullied for being called Ashley. If a child was going to be bullied for their name they would more likely be bullied for being called Kaydence or having Aubrey spelt Aubree.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 20/05/2022 20:04

If you spell them correctly Aubrey and Cadence, then I like them both, but Cadence has the edge for me.

Aubree and Kaydence look awful. Just no.

nc888 · 20/05/2022 20:06

Another one saying it's Cadence and Aubrey. Not sure why you want to make up the spelling?

Herejustforthisone · 20/05/2022 20:14

😬

Herejustforthisone · 20/05/2022 20:16

Ik really not into ‘personalised’ spellings of names. Does that make me fuddy-duddy or a.snob?

I prefer Aubrey but I know a cat and two dogs with the name.

Cadence reminds me of Credence, the weird as shit guy in Fantastic Beasts.

inmyslippers · 20/05/2022 20:16

Cadence is a rather pretty name for a girl but spelled that way.

Aubrey is a man's name to me and again, spelled this way.

^^ I really like your name choices but no need o spell a name incorrectly

pinthehammer · 20/05/2022 20:19

Spelled wrong = modern?

Call them what you want op. But people may well think you're daft, and your child may not thank you for giving them a yooneek spelling, especially when they're adults.

emma1103 · 20/05/2022 20:27

I agree with previous posts. The spelling is awful. I instantly associate misspelt names as chavy. I know i shouldn't and its not fair, but it doesnt stop me thinking that. You are setting your child up for a lifetime of correcting people, and they will not thank you for that.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 20/05/2022 20:32

I also really dislike these "modern" spellings-

I don't think they seem modern at all if that is your main criteria and strongly dislike Kaydence.
Aubrey is nice but spell it that way-not Aubree which just seems TTH

Lesperance · 20/05/2022 20:35

Cadance and varieties of it seem really common to me. You don't make an unusual name by spelling it in a zany way. Aubree is ok, nickname could be Bree, it's fine, of the two go for that because you are deluding yourself on the modern and original front with Kaydence, it's date now, however you spell it. It's a modern day Sharon or Tracey.

GoldenEclipse · 20/05/2022 20:38

Both are very ‘Teen Mom’. In fact I think one did call her daughter Aubree.

You posted asking for opinions on your choices, but you’re not liking the answers it seems.

Herejustforthisone · 20/05/2022 20:43

I am very anti creative spellings since encountering the name ‘Abbeygayille’. Yikes.

caringcarer · 20/05/2022 20:48

Don't like either of those names buy Sky ok.

Bobbins36 · 20/05/2022 21:03

SoupDragon · 20/05/2022 19:14

These aren't "modern names", they are just spelt badly.

👆this. Both of these names are just badly spelt abominations. Properly tacky.

Amandawest447 · 20/05/2022 16:57

im aware they aren’t spelt the traditional way but personally I think Aubree looks a lot prettier spelt this way. The reason I like this spelling of Kaydenceis because it matches my other kids names a lot more than the spelling “cadence”. That’s all

For the love of god don’t give your kids matching names. It’s not cute.

RebOrHon · 20/05/2022 21:10

I’d assume your DDs name was Audrey if I heard it as opposed to seeing it written down.
