Aubree or Kaydence?

i do prefer modern names, the old fashioned lily, Olivia, etc isn’t really my style. My husband likes aubree which I think is adorable but I think it’s becoming a lot more commonly used now and I like Kaydence because I think it’s more unusual. Neither are that common in England but that dosent bother me. Which one? Middle name will be Skye

Aubree js the nicer name out of the two.

Lulu1919 · 20/05/2022 16:56

Sorry
Aubree

Aubree or Kaydence?

No.

i do prefer modern names, the old fashioned lily, Olivia, etc isn’t really my style.

Both of those are old names, spelled wrong. If you want a more modern name something like X Æ A-Xii would be less silly.

Amandawest447 · 20/05/2022 16:57

im aware they aren’t spelt the traditional way but personally I think Aubree looks a lot prettier spelt this way. The reason I like this spelling of Kaydenceis because it matches my other kids names a lot more than the spelling “cadence”. That’s all

You'll doom the poor child to a lifetime of having to spell their name whenever asked and explaining why you chose to spell it wrongly.

Hermione101 · 20/05/2022 17:00

I have a name that doesn't translate well from my mother tongue to English (the spelling causes people to mispronounce it, and if they hear it first they always misspell it). I have spent 40+ years correcting people, just don't do that to your child. Spell their names correctly.

My name is beautiful though and very common in my mother tongue. 🙂

Aubrey is an old fashioned name, FOR A MAN. It was never used properly for a girl until the late 90s, like alot of names that are more popaulr for girls now than they ever where for boys, think Ashley, Addison, Taylor, Riley. There all modern names nowadays in the world of girl names.

Aubrey was my grandfather's name. To me it's an mans name.

HibouMilou · 20/05/2022 17:01

My son’s middle name is Aubrey. I don’t particularly like it. Chosen by my ex. I gave in but insisted I got the choice of a second middle name. My son doesn’t like it either!

ProfessorFusspot · 20/05/2022 17:02

According to behindthename, Aubree is the/a feminine form of Aubrey.

Of the two, I think Kaydence might be the more awkward as "cadence" is also a common noun and so people might assume that's the spelling of the name as well. I prefer Aubree to either version of Kaydence/Cadence; I think it's the "dense" sound at the end that puts me off.

Twizbe · 20/05/2022 17:03

I think they are both quite dated to the early 00s.

ElenaSt · 20/05/2022 17:03

Aubree spelt Aubrey is lovely.

Justkeeppedaling · 20/05/2022 17:06

Either Aubrey or Cadence would just about be bearable, but Aubree and Kadence are both so awful it makes me wonder if this post is a wind up.

Justkeeppedaling · 20/05/2022 17:08

im aware they aren’t spelt the traditional way but personally I think Aubree looks a lot prettier spelt this way

A) it doesn't look prettier
B) it's wrong

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/05/2022 17:10

I can only speak for myself, but I would have hated having a name that I constantly had to spell out and correct, with the inevitable 'No, I don't know why my parents went for that spelling, yes I know it's unusual' etc etc. My feeling is if I wouldn't like it myself why would I inflict it on my child, who is the one who is going to have to live with it or go through the hassle of changing it, so both your names would be out for me.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 20/05/2022 17:11

Aubree is the usual spelling for girls although my dgd is Aubrey

Kadence is nice but really don't like that spelling

Bobbins36 · 20/05/2022 17:30

Both pretty awful, made worse by the wrong unique spelling

Fizzbo · 20/05/2022 17:31

Aubrey is a man’s name so I think your DD will often be called Audrey by mistake.

SushiShopSearch · 20/05/2022 17:32

Are they male names or female names? I honestly have no idea. Don't like them anyway.

EmilyBolton · 20/05/2022 17:35

Kadence? Nope…pronounced like cadence?
cadence means rhythm or inflection.aside for. It’s original musically meaning, It is a term used in industry to mean the rhythmic flow of tasks done repeatedly at certain times. Very common in some manufacturing industries. To me cadence is basically the banging of a drum over and over, to set the tempo of tasks . Certainly not a good name to lumber someone with
also the emphasis of the work is on the “dense” bit…an obvious bullying point.
nope..don’t use this.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 20/05/2022 17:35

I wouldn’t want to give a person a name that they would have to spell every single time they used it.

I prefer Cadence of the two - definitely spelt like this though.

StageRage · 20/05/2022 17:36

To me, it’s spelled Aubrey, and a boy’s name, and Cadence, which is a quality of sound. And just spelling it with a K doesn’t make it a name.

I would use Skye.

Jessbow · 20/05/2022 17:40

Kaydance sounds like an instuction

Aubrey is a boys name

WhackingPhoenix · 20/05/2022 17:42

Kaydence is truly horrible, sorry.

Aubree is very Americanised. Not a fan of either name but if I had to pick one, it would be that.

Are there no other real names you like?

WhackingPhoenix · 20/05/2022 17:44

I’ve just seen you have another thread asking opinions on the name Alabama...

If you like A names, how about Autumn?
