Ellora or Paisleigh?

Ellora and Paisleigh are the top two me and DH have chosen but not sure of which one to choose as we like them both equally. We both prefer spelling them differently than having them as Elora and paisley if anyone's wondering. DD is due in December so we've got time to have a think and we'd love to hear your opinions thanks.

@FurzeMinister

Paisleigh is nice. Even better with a sibset of names themed and reconstituted/faux-gentrified from a list of the most deprived places in Scotland:

Castelle-Myllke
Dreghornne
Falkyrke
Gorbyllse
Govanne
Partique
Styrlynnge

😂😂😂

Oh God. What nonsense.

I hated having to spell my name all the time. Why do that to your child? It doesn't make you look edgy or cool. It just makes life difficult for your child who people will judge when they aren't thinking about the fact it is the parents who should be judged.

@iusedtoloveopalfruits1

Clearly you have never actually been to paisley not somewhere I’d want to be named after Blush
This made me laugh 😂

I like Falkyrke and Govanne more than I care to admit Blush

Paisleigh is dreadful. But ok if spelt correctly - Paisley.

Elora with one L is lovely as I love the movie Willow!

Toddlerteaplease · 27/09/2021 10:12

I mis read paisleigh as Pashley. Both awful.

dualteaching · 27/09/2021 10:14

I think it is important to keep in mind that your child does not need a unique name to be an extraordinary person.

Perhaps consider picking a special, unusual name, but tempering that with a logical, sympathetic spelling. I would not go with an unusual name and then top it with an unusual spelling. I would vote for Elora, if you plan to pronounce it Ay-lora or Ee-lora. Pick Ellora, if it is pronounced Elle-lora.

(I sadly had the same Parsley connotation as PPs with your other suggestion.)

Mamamamasaurus · 27/09/2021 10:15

I absolutely read 'Parsley'

Garriet · 27/09/2021 13:05

I know a lot of people have already said it, but I guess that shows the weight of opinion… Paisleigh is an abomination of a name. Please don’t, OP.

thenightsky · 27/09/2021 13:11

Ellora sounds like a brand of contraceptive pill or HRT.

Happenchance · 27/09/2021 13:23

Not a fan of either but Ellora is much better than Paisleigh.

Have you considered Eudora?

CanICelebrate · 27/09/2021 13:29

This has got to be a wind up!

Paisleigh is horrendous!

ILoveShula · 27/09/2021 14:04

Laura is much nicer than Elllora/Elora, which is just another Ellie-type name

Paisleigh is spelt wrongleigh

Patapouf · 27/09/2021 15:04

Oh no no no no

chocolatecheesecake · 27/09/2021 15:14

I spent my childhood having to spell my name and surname every single time I met anyone. I hated it. I longed to be a Lucy or Amy or any other standard spelling name. As an adult it is less annoying but I do still have to spell it out (or accept that it will be mis-spelled). Please go for standard spelling of whatever name you choose!

ILoveShula · 27/09/2021 15:15

@CanICelebrate, did you mean ghastleigh?

YvanEhtNiojYvanEhtNioj · 27/09/2021 15:16

Both hideous names

kayport87 · 27/09/2021 15:38

Oh my. Paisley is dreadful spelled that way.

Changethetoner · 27/09/2021 18:53

Sorry, but it's a no from me. For both those names. LOL.

CanICelebrate · 27/09/2021 20:25

@ILoveShula
That made me laugh out loud!! 🤣🤣🤣

MrsTerryPratchett · 27/09/2021 20:32

Govanne sounds faintly Arthurian.
Phyllis321 · 27/09/2021 20:48

Elaria?

Elora is pretty.

Paisleigh - please don’t

ILoveShula · 27/09/2021 20:50

How about Merileigh? Darne-Leigh, Mayvisbanque?
