Ellora or Paisleigh?

Ellora and Paisleigh are the top two me and DH have chosen but not sure of which one to choose as we like them both equally. We both prefer spelling them differently than having them as Elora and paisley if anyone's wondering. DD is due in December so we've got time to have a think and we'd love to hear your opinions thanks.

you can_not be serious !

Ruthietuthie · 27/09/2021 03:15

What on earth are you thinking with the spellings? Just why? No child needs to go through life with that burden.

BlusteryLake · 27/09/2021 03:33

I just don't get why anyone goes for yooneek spellings. Just why? It only serves to say that the parents are using their children as a conduit for their own attention seeking. You could always go for Sowfee or Beller I suppose...

Cissyandflora · 27/09/2021 03:36

Oh gosh. Awful name. Paisleigh is dreadful.

Idyllic · 27/09/2021 04:28

Paisleigh is horrific. Ellora I’ve never heard of but better than Paisleigh.

The trend for ‘youneek’ spellings of names is awful (IMO!)

manhattenrain · 27/09/2021 05:23

Paisley would be nice.

starrynight21 · 27/09/2021 05:28

Your poor child would go through life with people thinking "Oh dear, her parents couldn't spell". Don't do it !

PurpleFlower1983 · 27/09/2021 05:30

Elora is nicer but with one ‘l’. It’s much classier. I don’t like Paisleigh personally.

I do agree with this also.
AllyBama · 27/09/2021 05:47

Paisleigh looks and sounds horrific. Don’t do it to your child.
Elora with one L is passable.

LetHimHaveIt · 27/09/2021 05:48

'Elora' is the baby in 'Willow', and quite a pretty name. For the love of God, go with that.

The other one is an absolute affront to humanity, whether conventionally spelled, or - whatever that mess you came up, is. It's absolutely terrible.

Spelling her name 'differently' doesn't make you or your child more interesting, btw.

manhattenrain · 27/09/2021 06:35

The comments on here are so rude. You can be honest and get your point across without being nasty to the OP.

LorenzoVonMatterhorn · 27/09/2021 06:37

Elora is ok.

Paisleigh is beyond awful.

LetHimHaveIt · 27/09/2021 06:50

Meh. I think it's pretty bloody offensive to inflict that name on a child, actually.

Elisemum · 27/09/2021 07:07

@manhattenrain I agree that some comments are rude unfortunately and must not be nice to read for OP. But come on how can you name a baby Paisley? Why not name him Parsely? Or Arseley? - same thing! People need to realise that they are naming a baby who will eventually become an adult. They will need to go to school, doctors, birthdays, college, will need CVS and be going to interviews etc. Why make their life much harder by subjecting them to possible bullying and a lifetime of having to spell their name? Some parents just want to make some kind of statement “look how cool and different we are” and they don’t think about a child for a second. That’s just my opinion

Carrierpigeon · 27/09/2021 07:44

Elora is nice. Never heard it before. I'd go with that.

Gorl · 27/09/2021 07:46

Ellora is pretty. Paisleigh is absolutely ghastly. It sounds like one of those made up names people joke about hicks from the Midwest naming their kids.

ToadstoolBubbleMaker · 27/09/2021 07:50

Paisley is alright (if you're not from near there) but the spelling you've come up with is confusing and not very pretty. I don't think the name itself is that bad, it's nothing like Parsley to me.

Ellora is nice, not dissimilar to the styles I like for my own DDs.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/09/2021 07:51

Elora is pretty. Paisleigh is not.

sotiredofthislonelylife · 27/09/2021 08:12

@Srirachachacha

Please visit Paisley and then have a think. Would you call your child Wolverhampton?
🤣🤣🤣
LucyFox · 27/09/2021 08:46

Ellora is nice - are you ok with the nicknames of Ellie or Lora?
Paisley is ok, not my style but can live with it but PLEASE listen to others here & don’t saddle your poor child with Paisleigh …

I know a child called Ellery - that could be similar to the ones you list, different but not outrageous?

SoupDragon · 27/09/2021 08:50

Don't be silly - Wolverhampton is a boy's name.
stupiduser · 27/09/2021 08:54

I know an Elora. Spelt with one L. I think it's lovely

amillionmenonmars · 27/09/2021 09:02

what? Poor kid.

FurzeMinister · 27/09/2021 09:09

Paisleigh is nice. Even better with a sibset of names themed and reconstituted/faux-gentrified from a list of the most deprived places in Scotland:

Castelle-Myllke
Dreghornne
Falkyrke
Gorbyllse
Govanne
Partique
Styrlynnge
