Ellora or Paisleigh?

Ellora and Paisleigh are the top two me and DH have chosen but not sure of which one to choose as we like them both equally. We both prefer spelling them differently than having them as Elora and paisley if anyone's wondering. DD is due in December so we've got time to have a think and we'd love to hear your opinions thanks.

Yep, as someone who has spent my entire life spelling my name, correcting my name, then spelling my surname & more recently husband's surname, none of them particularly difficult, I would avoid causing your beloved offspring total grief. Keep it simple.

turnthebiglightoff · 26/09/2021 22:08

What about Paighsleigh?

DroopyClematis · 26/09/2021 22:11

Do you really need a name that no one else has?
Is it so important to you?
If so, don't go for silly quirky spellings of the name that you choose.
Your child will then have a lifetime of "sorry, how do you spell that?" Or "you've spelled my name wrong!"

Tatum1234 · 26/09/2021 22:12

Elora is quite nice, Paisleigh is absolutely dreadful and Paisley slightly better but still not too pretty.

Mushypeasandchipstogo · 26/09/2021 22:16

Sorry but I don’t like either. You sound like you have delusions of grandeur, think of your poor daughter permanently having to spell either of these out for the rest of her life!

annie335 · 26/09/2021 22:17

I've got the line in my head from Rachel - "Ross, why do you hate our child?"

picklesandgiggles · 26/09/2021 22:21

Yikes. Not to be rude OP but neither are great.

Ellora changes what’s actually a really pretty name to a tacky one. It makes it read like “Ell-o-ra” instead of “Ell-OR-a” which she will forever be correcting

And Paisleigh is just really rubbish

Justcashnosweets · 26/09/2021 22:24

They are both utterly dreadful names. Confused

Peanutsandchilli · 26/09/2021 22:25

Elora could be really pretty. Don't try and do 'different' because it just makes you look like illiterate chavs. Paisleigh is particularly hideous. Paisley might just be passable.

ofwarren · 26/09/2021 22:31

Paisleigh 🤣
I can't help but read Pay Slay
Elora is quite nice. With the Extra L it would be pronounced ELL ara though.

sotiredofthislonelylife · 26/09/2021 22:31

I have to agree with most posters - Paisleigh - just awful.
I can’t understand why people would choose to make up weird spellings…….
Elora is okay, Ellora - just why?

SoupDragon · 26/09/2021 22:32

if you want something different they are and it's your baby, your choice.

It isn't the OP who has to live with it though.

picklesandgiggles · 26/09/2021 22:40

@turnthebiglightoff

What about Paighsleigh?
🤣🤣

Or….Paighysleighy?

zeromango · 26/09/2021 22:45

As a former nursery nurse it was really frustrating seeing so many nice normal names misspelled to appear cool or unique. Both names spelled normally are OK but it's not my taste to spell them in that way. Sorry OP!

reallyalurker · 26/09/2021 23:08

Ellora's Cave was an erotic fiction publisher known for not paying its authors. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ellora%27s_Cave

Vindo · 26/09/2021 23:20

Ellora is ok.

Paisleigh is really bad. It just makes me think of the town, which is not a good thing. I assume you don't live in Scotland?

If you must do it at least use the proper spelling.

myheartskippedabeat · 26/09/2021 23:28

No to both

ChocolateDeficitDisorder · 26/09/2021 23:32

Have you been to Paisley OP?

I have. I spent ten years living there. It has a nice cathedral.

I'd rather call my new baby Cathedral than call it Paisley.

Balonzette · 26/09/2021 23:37

@nopenotplaying

Ellora is an Indian name 'the name given to the cave temples of India' it is not a funny spelling as others have said.

Elora has a lovely meaning and is a pretty name.

Personally I'm not keen on the other.

Good luck with your baby c

Ellora isn't an Indian name. It's an Indian place. Just asked Indian DH.

Paisleigh is an awful spelling, sorry OP. I don't particularly like the name even when spelled correctly.

I'd choose Ellora if I had to, but I'd spell it correctly. People will think youve spelled it wrong by accident!

GeorgiaGirl52 · 27/09/2021 00:04

If you like Paisleigh, what about Parsley? At least it's spelled right!

ISpyCobraKai · 27/09/2021 00:06

ParsleyGrin

Greygreenblue · 27/09/2021 00:07

Why would you do that to your child?

Srirachachacha · 27/09/2021 00:11

Please visit Paisley and then have a think. Would you call your child Wolverhampton?

PearLime · 27/09/2021 00:14

Both a bit fussy if you ask me.

Elisemum · 27/09/2021 02:58

Paisleigh - sorry Op but I have no words, utterly bad and sounds like parsley.
Elora - it’s okay, use it if you must buy maybe have a few other options too
