So out of curiosity I searched my own name in the mumsnet search function to see what opinions are on my name as a ‘baby name’.

Turns out I have a very very horrible name that everyone hates!!!

Makes me feel a bit sad. I always thought it was quite nice.

Oh well....

Has anyone else done this?

Nope but I might now!

Whenever someone suggests my name on a baby name thread someone immediately turns up and says “oh no, that’s a dog’s name!”

I assume they sound like hyacinth Bucket!

WontonSoupForTheSoul · 08/01/2019 22:26

Mine often comes up as an old-fashioned, but not in a cool way, name.

cavycavy · 08/01/2019 22:26

Apparently loads of women with my name are known for being either completely bonkers, up their own arses or have greasy hair and rotten teeth :(

Is your name hazel?

youaremyrain · 08/01/2019 22:27

@UnderMajorDomoMinor are you called Sheba?

Hepzibar · 08/01/2019 22:28

Petra?

Kittenrush · 08/01/2019 22:28

Don’t be sad, people are so awful about names on here. Everyone has an opinion, I stupidly commented on a thread containing my daughters name, I’ve never done something so ridiculously stupid in my entire life 😂

cavycavy · 08/01/2019 22:28

I think my name must be slightly old fashioned but not cool too. It’s a very 80’s name.

It will never come back around and will probably die a death like Keith.

No. But it rhymes with Beryl!

I realise I’ve basically outed myself. But I’m so devastated by my shit name that I don’t care.

Mine comes out well. I did a quick search and it was most commonly described as classic and elegant (I am not elegant). But it’s a very old biblical name that’s never been too popular or really gone out of fashion.

cavycavy · 08/01/2019 22:31

I really like the name Hazel.

OP posts:
Newsername · 08/01/2019 22:31

Meryl?

cavycavy · 08/01/2019 22:31

Oh to have an elegant name!

Apparently women with my name are bullying bitches! It's also not good retro. Oh well I like it!

Newsername · 08/01/2019 22:32

I’m guessing it’s not feral Grin

moreursulathanariel · 08/01/2019 22:32

Ok I just did the same and someone on aibu said they have never met someone with my name who isn't "an absolute fucking bitch"!!!!

cavycavy · 08/01/2019 22:32

Newsername

Nearly!!

Onehellofaride · 08/01/2019 22:32

I guessed Cheryl Smile

WillYouDoTheFandango · 08/01/2019 22:33

Aw cavy —Chezza— don’t take it to heart. Almost every name gets ripped to shreds here. I think people forget they’re talking to real people with feelings when they get behind their keyboard

SitOnMyHouse · 08/01/2019 22:33

My name always gets the comment of ‘it’s cute but can you really imagine a grown up with that name?’ Or ‘you’d never get a judge called that’.

snowie01 · 08/01/2019 22:33

I love the name Cheryl

Newsername · 08/01/2019 22:33

Cheryl! I like that name, I always think of a cherub angel when I see the name Cheryl. I think it’s lovely Grin

cavycavy · 08/01/2019 22:33

Feral would be very close to the truth, but not that either.

I share my name with a relatively famous woman who, according to this forum, is a right old chav. (Which is kind of true, but still, not her names guilt!!)
