Everdeen??? Girls baby name.

Hello All,
I’m a newbie to Mums net.
My husband is absolutely adamant he wants our daughter to be called Everdeen, he loves the name. I’m a little less sure, I can’t find any evidence of it being even a name or being used as a name. What do people think? Is it crazy to pick a name that has been made up?

Is he confusing it with Evelyn? His version sounds like a double glazing company.

As in Katniss Everdeen?

As in Katniss Everdeen of Hunger Games fame? Just instantly makes me think of that. I wouldn't, sorry.

Is he a Hunger Games fan?

Surname of Katniss from The Hunger Games but apart from that I've never heard it! Lots of people would probably think she was named after Katniss Everdeen but if you don't mind that then fire away

Evelyn, Evalina, Eve, Eva, etc, all names not based on some dreadful and unpleasant movies with whatserface in them

Maybe some better mileage out of "Evergreen" instead?

He's obviously a HG fan, but it's a bit full on to saddle your DD with that for life IMHO.

Not a HG fan so didn't think of that but it immediately made me think of the Center Parcs site in Suffolk, Elverden.

Has he said why? Is it because of The Hunger Games books/films? Maybe you could suggest Ever instead?

Everdeen just sounds clunky and odd as a first name.

I like it! But I seen your point, all names were made up at one point. I'm calling one of my daughters Everly but it realllllllly liked Ever.

I love Everly, but my names Emily and worried it was too similar.

I suppose if your DH really adores it (a bit of an odd one for an adult male tbh) then it might be ok as a middle name.

Any suggestions welcome, I love the Ev sound, but don’t want anything to common.
It’s such a hard decision to make. Really finding it tricky.

Everdeen shrieks HG to me. It's too much to name a child after the character imo.

How about Catriona or Catherine with nn Cat, like Katniss?

Or maybe Primrose?

I like Evanna.

For us it’s has nothing to do with hunger games, so wouldn’t want anything like Katniss.
I seem to keep going towards names beginning with E.
