This isn't a hate thread! I've been told that I like boring names Grin

OP posts:

Hmm, probably a bit mean of me to participate but mine would definitely be -

Jane
Ann/e
John
Caroline
Deborah
Elaine

Sorry to anyone called these and I must add I've met lovely ones of nearly all of those names but those are my boring relatives!

Reow · 21/06/2017 16:37

I also like boring (or traditional) names!

I like

Elizabeth
Audrey
Clara
Benjamin
David
Timothy

I think I like "safe" names like this because I have an awful fashionable-in-the-early-80s dated name.

Muumi3 · 21/06/2017 16:47

I've always found Holly so boring. I think because it's very predictable. On a maternity ward round Christmas once, every single baby girl had been named Holly or Noelle

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 21/06/2017 16:49

Sam
Ben
James
Daniel
Alex
Richard

Anne
Jane
Emily
Emma
Claire

missyB1 · 21/06/2017 16:51

Oh well at the risk of offending many I am so bored of a lot of the fashionable names of the last few years.
Ellie
Jack
Harry
Evie
Grace

Yes I know some of them are considered classic but there are more than you could shake a stick at!

Teabagtits · 21/06/2017 16:51

Jack and Lucy

Muumi3 · 21/06/2017 16:53

I'm also completely bored of Theodore. There's going to be 10 in every class judging by the amount of people introducing me to their baby Teddy (I work on childcare)

missyB1 · 21/06/2017 16:53

Oh yes Theodore I forgot that one!

angelcakesrule · 21/06/2017 16:56

Samuel
Thomas
Ian
Peter/Pete
Charlotte
Sophie
Caroline
Gill

Thurlow · 21/06/2017 16:57

Mine, DD's and DP's name are all already on here Grin

Mine (2nd one mentioned) is insanely boring, especially for my age, which is a lot younger than you'd expect for the name.

It's quite subjective though - there are so many Eva's and Emma's and Harry's round here that they seem a bit 'boring'. Though they are all very nice names.

Can't get it right though. Three of us have 'boring' names, DS has an old Scottish name that's quite rare and is proving rather divisive!

Muumi3 · 21/06/2017 16:59

Thurlow mine always makes an appearance on the "chavvy names" threads, I think I'd prefer to be boring

Katelocks · 21/06/2017 17:01

I think of short, traditional names as abit boring. But not the people called them!

E.g.
Jane
Anne
Joan
Mary

John
Peter
Mark

missyB1 · 21/06/2017 17:10

It's interesting isn't it as I would love to see Jane and Mary make a comeback.
I think it is just literally the over popular names that I find boring.

Rednailsandnaeknickers · 21/06/2017 17:11

I think our perceptions of names are often influenced by the people we know with those names. E.g. every Deborah I've met has been quite a quiet person (sorry to life and soul of the parties Deborah's!) so to me it's a "quiet" name etc.

Anyway:
Pete
Ken
Brian
Oliver
Callum
David

Amy
Lily
Karen
Sarah
Jane
Alison

joannegrady90 · 21/06/2017 17:12

Mine - Joanne!
I hate it

kingfishergreen · 21/06/2017 17:14

My poor mother, and uncle, and grandfather, and grandmother - all their names are on these lists - ha!

Luckily I have a hideously popular name, preferred by dog owners (for their dogs) and the parents of toddlers.

Ponyboycurtis · 21/06/2017 17:15

Claire and Brian. Don't know why I think boring and have only met lovely ones.

Mines boring.

back2worktoday22 · 21/06/2017 17:16

Claire
Emma
Sarah
Jayne

ifigoup · 21/06/2017 17:21

Clare
Elaine
Ellen
Reg
Pat
Louise
Sarah

and of the current generation of kids:
Ellie
Maisie
Alfie
Freddie
Lily-Mae

DecisionsDecisions33 · 21/06/2017 17:24

Olivia
Isabella
Grace
Lily
Ellie
Evie

Oscar
Noah
Teddy

butterfly990 · 21/06/2017 17:24

Neville
Norman
Boris
Tracey
Ann
Bertha

AmysTiara · 21/06/2017 17:26

Elizabeth. Every nickname is so dull.

I know it's considered a classic but it is really boring.

PuppyMonkey · 21/06/2017 17:29

Jack

susurration · 21/06/2017 17:35

Anne, Jane, Susan, Mary

David, John

weebarra · 21/06/2017 18:17

Mine and DS1's names are there!
DS2 has an old Scottish name, but his middle name (ancient Scottish king) is always described a a middle aged man's name.
DD has a name which is also very old but has only recently become popular in England, we're in Scotland.
For me, it would be the names my friends and I are called:
Clare
Sarah
Kirsten
Michelle
Colin
Iain
Craig
David
