This isn't a hate thread! I've been told that I like boring names Grin

Phew..... my 2DC aren't on here nor am I , but a lot of my friends and DC names are..... does that make me the most exciting out of our group 😜

SparkleDownUnder · 25/06/2017 14:32

Thanks Waitrose. :)

Kursk · 25/06/2017 14:34

The common theme here is names from the bible

dustarr73 · 25/06/2017 14:41

Emma is the most boring name. It's just bleugh.when Rachel in "Friends" called the child Emma. Why it's boring.
Wayne,Gary,David are so 😴😴😴😴

ShuttyTown · 25/06/2017 15:09

ShuttyTown · 25/06/2017 15:09

Oh and Lily and Alfie

vickibee · 25/06/2017 15:15

My mum is called Phyllis that is one that hasn't been revived. Names of the eighties are pretty dull, loads of Susan's, Beverley, Claire, Andrew, grahams etc. It is all down to personal taste and no name is better than another

AvoidingCallenetics · 25/06/2017 15:23

Some of my favourite names are on this thread. I love Caroline, Alex, Michael, Claire, Emma and Kate.

I think that anything that is very popular becomes 'boring' simply through over use. You stop hearing how pretty the name is because all you think of is the fact that you already know 4 people with the same name already!

For me, it is Anne , Jane and Louise, even though I do like the sound of them, they are vety dated (not bring rude - one of them is my middle name) and for boys David, Sam and Josh.

AvoidingCallenetics · 25/06/2017 15:26

Koala you have just summed up exactly how I feel about my first name.
If I think about it objectively, I do like the sound of it, but god, there are just so many of us!

dustarr73 · 25/06/2017 15:27

Micheal as well very boring

MacarenaFerreiro · 25/06/2017 15:31

Sarah and John.

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 25/06/2017 15:38

Keith is pretty dull.

99point9FahrenheitDegrees · 25/06/2017 16:23

I deliberately gave my kids boring first names (both mentioned a LOT on this thread! ) because of a. A complicated surname and b. Family names across two cultures. No regrets, and they've not yet had another one of them in their classes!

Zoflorabore · 25/06/2017 17:06

So now my whole household's names are on the thread Grin

MaisyPops · 25/06/2017 17:07

I've not seen mine yet I don't think.

But I've seen loads of family ones

WinifredAtwellsOtherPiano · 25/06/2017 17:12

Muhammad is obviously the world's most predictable name, but it's not chosen in order to be interesting and distinctive so that's fine.

Amusingly, all the Muhammeds I teach use their middle name day to day

grufallosfriend · 25/06/2017 17:16

I wonder what will be the Clare or Steve in 20 years?

herethereandeverywhere · 25/06/2017 17:16

So funny, my first and middle names are on here as are both my parents and my brother's names - what a boring family! (I wouldn't disagree). My DB was one of 5 of his name in his class at school.

Interestingly both my brother and myself have chosen quite long multi-syllable names for our kids (they are still quite mainstream though).

I do agree it's hard to drum up enthusiasm for yet another Oliver/Thomas/James.

I do think it less often with girls names for some reason.

WinifredAtwellsOtherPiano · 25/06/2017 17:19

I'm waiting for the day when we get a rash of baby Tracys, Keiths and Jackies named after their late grand grannies. "They're so quaint - they've got a real old fashioned charm!"

Yvetteballs · 25/06/2017 17:31

Oliver, Thomas, Robert, Matthew, Karen, Liz, Sue, Gayle, Martin, Paige, Chris, Lance, Keith, Helen, Nicola, Clive, Carol.

CocoaLeaves · 25/06/2017 18:12

I like Claire because I have only met nice Claire's.

DS' name is on here very early on, mine is not, DD's is not.
