Your list is much the better!

How about Conrad? Both traditional and edgy?

Jesus Christ OP! I don't know what to say! I didn't think it was possible for him to
come up with five worse names! I'd suggest you don't talk about names for a week and see if the pressure of asking others for a name all day everyday causes your other half to let you decide.

JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 28/03/2016 20:41

Has he been drinking? Hmm His list is getting worse.

I love your 20-25 names too. Oliver and Noah especially. And thank you.

QueenOfThorns · 28/03/2016 20:42

Sailor? He's taking the piss, surely?

Congratulations on your gorgeous boy, he shares a birthday with me! Just warn him that it always rains on our birthday, and every few years they steal an hour of it Grin

I think he looks like a Daniel, Dominic or Nathaniel. Nobody deserves to be lumbered with any of the names off your DH's list, let alone a lovely little boy like that!

gymboywalton · 28/03/2016 20:43

he's taking the piss big time
just say that he has no say and call him whatever YOU want

sailor? fucking sailor? that's a horses name in a jilly cooper novel!!!!

QueenOfThorns · 28/03/2016 20:44

Btw, what does your oh so helpful MIL think of his list? Does she know exactly what he's proposing?

Jw35 · 28/03/2016 20:46

Your list is so much better! I love Alexander.

What about Chase?

GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 20:47

I sometimes think he is taking the piss and he genuinely isn't, it's sad! I wish he was Sad

MIL says its up to him what his preference is! Angry I ask if she likes them and she shrugs and says its his son Angry

This is going to be a never ending battle

QueenOfThorns · 28/03/2016 20:49

Perhaps you could counter Sailor with a few occupational names of your own:
Postman
Dentist
Accountant
Forklifttruckdriver

Lweji · 28/03/2016 20:50

You don't need him when you register the baby.

Just saying...

PunkAssMoFo · 28/03/2016 20:50

Seems like neither of you want to compromise on your polar opposite tastes. When DH & I couldn't agree I took to using name berry to find names similar to those on his list. I'm not in love with ds's name, but I like it enough.
For example: names with a similar feel to Gideon-
Ezekiel
Asa
Ezra

You have to tell him straight the he is going to have to compromise, as are you. Maybe try the above method & see if you can find some common ground. Do this before his list gets any worse!

PunkAssMoFo · 28/03/2016 20:50

& tell mil to do one.

GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 20:51

Queen Grin

I am really trying to compromise actually!

I am really trying to compromise actually!

And that is your problem. Don't budge and keep vetoing names. That's pretty much how DS was named.

AlisonWunderland · 28/03/2016 20:52

Did your DH sneak the gas and air cylinder home from hospital?
Cos he's definitely high on something!

HeadTilt · 28/03/2016 20:55

Your DH is a troll. He's invested a lot of time in convincing you he is a real member of society but there is no way anyone over the age of 12 wants to call their son Sailor. LTB.

Quickchangeup · 28/03/2016 20:57

Is your DH American OP? They sound very American all of his choices. You've got 6 weeks to register him so don't rush.

ProfessorPickles · 28/03/2016 20:57

Don't let DH and his mum push you into naming your DS something you don't like.
Of course you should both like the name but it sounds as though your DH wants your DS to have a first, middle and last name on DH's conditions and not yours.

Both pick the absolutely top five that you like, then you have to pick out of those ten instead of going into names neither of you are even slightly keen on.

Definitely get him to read this thread!

HeadTilt · 28/03/2016 20:58

How about Cashiell/Cash?

Also like Postman though Grin

Quickchangeup · 28/03/2016 20:58

Liv Tyler called her son Sailor Gene last year. Perhaps that's where he's got the idea from?

HeadTilt · 28/03/2016 20:59

Sailor Gene sounds like a DNA mapping breakthrough identifying people who never get seasickness.

PunkAssMoFo · 28/03/2016 20:59

Your 2nd list still seems really traditional though & his way out there. Loads of the names on your list are winners to me, but as your DH will never agree, maybe something a little more contemporary or less common might win him over. Rather than being a battle of wills.

Asking him how he will feel calling 'tyrese' or 'tucker' across the playground .

YakTriangle · 28/03/2016 21:02

Ooh, occupational names.

Tinker
Blacksmith
Cooper
Quantitysurveyor

His choices are a little unusual aren't they. I refuse to believe that there can't be at least one name you can agree on though. Then you'll have to hope that any other babies are girls.

OnePlanOnHouzz · 28/03/2016 21:03

I know a Bodie ( his dad loved the tv show 'the professionals " ) it's a cool name ?!

Congrats on the birth !!! Thanks
