I had a long struggle discussion over names with DH he hated all my suggestions as being too posh and I found his too dull. In the end he made a suggestion that I dismissed out of habit only for it to grow on me over a week or so. DS is now 6 and the name DH suggested is still perfect for him.

Hector? It's a bit out there and cool but quite old fashioned too.

doodlebops · 28/03/2016 23:17

He looks like a Callum - Cal for a nn

GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 23:19

Why would he try and double bluff me? That's worse Sad

Reuben, NN Rubio would be a fab idea. I love that... Like, lots. I think that may be a winner (I have a feeling he might go for that)... I don't see why he wouldn't, we both get a name we like Smile

I've never asked him about Leo - he's Lee so I figured they were too similar Smile

Just choose the name you think suits him that you love and start calling him it. Vito anything DP comes up with and eventually he'll cave. It might take a week, but just stick with it, stay breezy and nonchalant about it and change the subject if he gets annoyed. This is how both my boys were named. It took a week each time for him to come round Wink

cherrylola · 28/03/2016 23:27

And congratulation, he is adorable Easter Smile

JollyXmasJumper · 28/03/2016 23:29

Just popping in to say there is a list of hipster-ish/artsy names on baby names that might help you compromise.

I think you should tell DP he is not naming a 60 yo tobacco chewing southern redneck but a beautiful baby boy! (Any chance Rubio is for Marco Rubio?! Get him off CNN)

I know I shouldn't be talking to him about it, but he has just rolled over and said he likes Phoenix, what do you think? In a way, I find it okay?

OP posts:
Ludwsys · 28/03/2016 23:42

I don't like Phoenix but I like Felix, would he go for that?

ShmooBooMoo · 28/03/2016 23:43

Love TheWolf's suggestion of Hector!

I suggested Leo earlier. Being close to his name might appeal to his vanity! Smile

Wilbur is great too!

Ps. Tell your DH he missed these off his list:

Maverick
Falcon
Corey
Grayson Grin

MammyCon · 28/03/2016 23:43

Congrats on your beautiful baby.
I'll throw one out there but I love Chad!
Weird I know but it was the boy name for me!
Confused

ShmooBooMoo · 28/03/2016 23:45

Phoenix is not good imo. I think he's taking the piss and will tell you he's been having you on in a day or two!
I like Felix but it's too much like a cat's name...

Does he like Hugo?
Hugo Alexander is an amazing name imo

GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 23:46

He isn't having me over, or he's really good Confused

ShmooBooMoo · 28/03/2016 23:46

As soon as I read Chad I thought of Chad Evans...THAT footballer!

SweetpeaToadfoot · 28/03/2016 23:46

I like Phoenix.

Also - how about Harrison, Lawson, Jensen?
All names of boys we know.

ShmooBooMoo · 28/03/2016 23:47

Your DH might like Drew

GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 23:47

I knew a Phoenix so I think that's why I don't mind it!

OP posts:
GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 23:47

He likes Dre

Nospringflower · 28/03/2016 23:48

Hal?

Ludwsys · 28/03/2016 23:50

Casper or Jasper?

WhispersOfWickedness · 29/03/2016 00:01

Linus?

ShmooBooMoo · 29/03/2016 00:11

As in Dr. Dre Hmm

Joel?

Jude?

Sonny?

Benedict

ShmooBooMoo · 29/03/2016 01:09

Looking at his photo again, my brain keeps saying Fraser...

4fingers6toes · 29/03/2016 01:23

Has he got a name yet op? How about Harley or Hunter?

I think he's just opposing your choices because they are your choices. You need to make him think it was his idea. Pick a name and then write it subtly around the house where he will see it and it will be ingrained in his brain. A bit like that film inception.

Dp thinks he picked our ds's name but it had been on my list from the beginning. He tells everyone he came up with it and I just smile smugly. Good job he has a crap memory
