Pascal

HeadTilt · 28/03/2016 22:27

How about Clarke? To go with the superman suit and quasi American theme? If you like it.

GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 22:32

Thanks all, I appreciate it! Thanks

Nope, he isn't American!

He will agree to Mason, but he then gets to pick the middle name which is a bloody joke! Sad

I would do the double thing, but the stick they get on here, it won't even be something nice, like James as the second name! Sad he'd be judged his whole life.

Can you imagine his teacher's face?

"Alexander-Willoughby"

Oh dear, that's not good. I know it wouldn't be that, but you know Sad

I gave him cuddles from you! Wink he's so scrumptious!

If he isn't willing to compromise at all, them play him at his own game.
If baby is to have his surname the he will have to pick one off your list.
Or do as pp suggested- refuse to discuss it for a few days (and just start calling him a name you like, quietly- until it becomes his name)

I'm going to add a couple of last minute curve balls though:
Macsen (Welsh for max)
Redmond (a form of Raymond)
Ray

Undercooked is right on the money.

This isn't right OP. When my DP and I couldn't agree on DC2's name, we just kept going until we found something we both liked (you only have 3 days where we live). There was no "I'm choosing the name", no demanding to choose the middle name and no threatening to double-barrel. And I think we're both delighted with our choice a few years on.

Your DP needs to lay off for a bit. Discuss it with him in a week or 2. Enjoy your new son, he's utterly adorable.

YakTriangle · 28/03/2016 22:38

Don't agree to double barrelled. What middle name will he pick to go with Mason? Is it something truly awful, or just a bit bad? Because really, nobody uses their middle name except when filling out forms anyway.

LetTheRiverAnswer · 28/03/2016 22:39

You poor thing, OP. I agree with pp that it's probably best to take a break and see if reason prevails, but thought I'll throw a name into the mix anyway - Eben.
I met a baby Eben recently and it seemed different without being wacky. I'm not sure, but I think it's from Ebenezer.

ShmooBooMoo · 28/03/2016 22:41

Oops, I see William and Nathan are on your list, sorry.

I know an Idris (unusual but acceptable).

Rowan?

Silas?

Alfie (means 'ready for battle') Wink

Freddie?

I really like Stellan since I watched River on BBC (Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard). It means calm, apparently!

I knew an Amyas (pronounced Am-ee-ass). It means 'loved' in Latin.

Solomon means peace and he was also a great king. Could shorten to Solly.

Daniel is nice.

Finbar? Irish origin, means fair haired if that applies.

On a serious note, I think your DP is being unreasonable verging on bullying.

GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 22:42

Thanks all Thanks

He will get a middle name from his list and as much as that's not the end of the world, I'm not a huge lover of Mason, so that would be for him. I'd be a bit embarrassing if my son was a Mason Sailor! Blush sorry!

Look at my baby all snuggled (I've cropped my ugly mug out) but ahhhhhhh!! I want 100s! He's my first little one

Forbes (Gaelic meaning wealthy or STUBBORN). Also, sounds American, being an American business magazine.

Lweji · 28/03/2016 22:44

I really think you should choose one you like and stick to it.

The only other word you will need is NO.

ShmooBooMoo · 28/03/2016 22:46

Mason... I'm really sorry but it makes me think of the Masons, also conjures up images of heavily tattooed thugs on Death Row... The only Mason I've known is a dog...a very cute one. At least it'll only be a middle name. Your DH has the strangest taste! Sorry if this sounds offensive....

ShmooBooMoo · 28/03/2016 22:47

Oh, Mason as a first name... Seriously, I'd put my foot down. It's awful, sorry. Your child is too handsome for that name!

ThisWasCrownjewel · 28/03/2016 22:51

Sorry, haven't RTFT but has anyone suggested Christian / Kristian?

GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 22:53

He didn't mind Chrissy, but just that on his BC Hmm

OP posts:
JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 28/03/2016 22:59

Chrissy?? Just Chrissy? Hmm

Does he want his son to get the shit kicked out of him at school?

PunkAssMoFo · 28/03/2016 22:59

I think he's coming up with increasingly ridiculous suggestions so that his original list is more appealing... He's double buffing you op.

You're H is behaving very unreasonably. You've just carried his baby and given birth fgs. Tell him to F off with his stupid suggestions.

Go and cuddle your Ds and enjoy him. Maybe your H will come up with some sensible suggestions. Hmm

luciole15 · 28/03/2016 23:04

Egg? Sorry, just joking! Wilbur?

Snuggle in and chill out. You have ages yet for your DH to stop being such an arse register is name.

Sweet dreams to you and Super-Boy!

ppandj · 28/03/2016 23:11

Congratulations, what a beautiful baby!

I have a Joseph, currently nn is Joey (he is very bouncy and it suits him!) but when he is older nn will probably be Joe. So I am biased but I infinitely prefer your list.

HerbieRidesAgain · 28/03/2016 23:13

I'm liking the Rueben nn Rubio compromise :)

doodlebops · 28/03/2016 23:13

Reuben? Close to his suggestion earlier....

HeteronormativeHaybales · 28/03/2016 23:15

His list's awful, Mason's awful (sorry) and his behaviour is terrible.

How about Asher (sorry if someone's mentioned it - haven't RTwholeFT) and then he can call him Ash if he absolutely must?

ppandj · 28/03/2016 23:16

Just thought, how does he feel about Leo? Sorry if it had been suggested.
