Hi all,

My little boy arrived yesterday... He is an Easter Baby! Easter Wink

We are so stuck for names - our styles are way too different.

His:

Just to add, dh got his way with one of our dc and my choice would've suited so much better. Be strong and tell him his names are shit

Undercooked · 28/03/2016 22:01

I'm going to stop joking about his lists because actually there is something much more serious here and that is the fact that your DP is treating you badly only hours after labour and birth and while you are establishing BFing.

I would seriously stop talking about names. Tell DP that you are tired and sad and it's all overwhelming and right now you need support and unconditional love. Accept that naming is a problem right now so park that problem and concentrate on your gorgeous son and bonding as a family.

GreenLounger · 28/03/2016 22:02

He's now saying we can each pick one, but it then has to be double barrelled. This is so shit.

Rubio? FFS!

Your baby is absolutely gorgeous and he needs a gorgeous name. Preferably one that won't have people muttering about and writing threads about on MN in 8 years times when they hear you shouting his name in the park.

My suggestions fwiw

Dexter
Harvey
Elliot Barnaby (So his initials are EB - Easter Bunny)
Pheonix
Eiden

luciole15 · 28/03/2016 22:03

Stop discussing it with him. Give your lovely boy's head a good sniff, ruffle that hair and snuggle up. Refuse to discuss with your partner for a few days.

Thanks all x

Uh I feel for you OP it's hard when name tastes are so vastly different. I HATED with a passion ALL of OHs suggestions when I was pregnant with DD. Paris was one of them, whereas my style is Violet, Isla etc...in the end he suggested DDs name and I thought, right it's normal lets go with it Grin i wouldn't of chosen it but love it now. I'm choosing the next one though!!

Chinks123 · 28/03/2016 22:05

Ps he's gorgeous Easter Smile

JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 28/03/2016 22:05

I wish I could give you a hug Green. With DS2 we couldn't agree at all. I was in love with Felix and he wanted something else. Possibly Aidan. As we didn't like the others choices, we went with neither of them and waited to find a name we both loved.

You do have 6 weeks to name that lovely bundle so there's time for him to become more reasonable.

DingleberryFinn · 28/03/2016 22:05

Matteo? NN Matt/Matty?

Marlon

SpidersFromMars · 28/03/2016 22:05

No you have time to come up with a compromise. Double barrel in 6 weeks if you have to (your choice first!)

Can you ask him to choose from say the top 100 names in 1900?

Following up on the Gideon line might get you somewhere... Ezra, Moses, Aaron?

acupofteafortwoormore · 28/03/2016 22:05

Congratulations on your baby - can you both leave it for 24hrs & try & enjoy cuddles & see what evolves?

Rather than his list or your list, can you both write some new names that are not on any list or have they all be exhausted?

Look at the books on your shelf any inspiration?

Any inspiration in grandparents or family tree?

have not read all the suggestions so sorry if repeating - here are some caleb? Winter? Otto? Hugo? Seth? Rufus?

Huge congrats & enjoy the cuddles

lovelychops · 28/03/2016 22:06

Stop compromising as he isn't trying one bit to compromise with you, and you're good big to end up with something you're not happy with.

It's got fek all to do with your MIL and your DP could do with reminding her of that.

If he's so keen on 'wacky' names perhaps he changes his own by deed pole?

I love your choices btw. And congratulations on your gorgeous Easter baby boy !

AgentCooper · 28/03/2016 22:08

Congratulations! DH was born on Easter Sunday and he's called John (not helpful at all but you never see wee baby Johns anymore).

JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 28/03/2016 22:11

Slightly more out there suggestions - Wyatt, Elias, Caleb?

SpidersFromMars · 28/03/2016 22:11

Would he count Jackson as his first name choice? You know he'll be known as Jack!

daisydalrymple · 28/03/2016 22:12

In that case if you're picking one each, choose your absolute favourite off your original list and make sure that's the first name. Then never call him by the double barrel name (am assuming you're the one taking mat leave?)

ShmooBooMoo · 28/03/2016 22:13

Is your husband American?

Here's what I think (not on either list except for Teddy)

William
Nathan
Michael
Rufus
Henry

ShmooBooMoo · 28/03/2016 22:17

Oh, and Leo!

JenniferAnistonsHair · 28/03/2016 22:18

He's a beaut! Congratulations!!

Your list of names is great. His is not.

Apologies if these have already been mentioned, but what about...

Ellis
Fraser
Woody
Milo
Miles

wizzler · 28/03/2016 22:19

How about Gabe...

I prefer Postman to Tucker....

YakTriangle · 28/03/2016 22:20

Having read your latest posts, I agree that this is unacceptable bullying behaviour at a time when he should be helping you as much as possible instead of digging his heels in and being a twat.
Mason is nice, can't he just agree to that?

228agreenend · 28/03/2016 22:21

Your husband obviously likes American names, so,you could always name him Donald,,after Donald Trump...! (Only kidding!)

Please give baby Superman a cuddle from me.

Hepzibar · 28/03/2016 22:21

Gabe!

That's a great name!
