Help with name to go with 'unusual' (comedy) surname please!

I've posted before about girls names to go with our unhelpful surname Aldock (see -

but now I need boys name suggestions please!

Again, we've had to rule quite a few we like out, eg. Jacob (Jaco Baldcock) and Aidan (which I just think doesn't sound right - and as I've said in my previous thread, I don't really like alliteration).

We like Isaac but it just wouldn't work - I's a coldcock or I suck old cock??????!!!

Though we think Zac is a possiblility - Does Zac Aldcock sound ok?

Please can you give us some suggestions (boys or girls) - it's driving me a little crazy!!!!! Thank you!

Your only option is to go even crazier for a first name

They both detract from the comedy value that is your surname

Its not that terrible a surname. I used to know a lovely family with the surname 'Willey'. Their children all had 3-4 syllable names and were uncommonly charming and beautiful. None of them gave a shit and it was clear they had risen above it.

I do love the name Zac, but it could sound like Suck so I would avoid it!

I think you need a longish first name, at least 3 syllables to take the emphasis to the first name. Something like Nathaniel, Cameron, Sebastien?

I would go with a really bording name that everyone knows.

I think I would go for a name beginning with a vowel like Alfred or Ian, Owen etc. But not Isaac, Oliver or Arthur.

Don't go for a name beginning with B! He will spend a life time writing B. Aldcock, not fair!

I also ruled out names beginning with a vowel as didn't think any would sound right though do like Owen.

I know that it isn't that bad a surname really and I have heard worse but it does make naming children more difficult!!

I think the name should end with a vowel sound, so it can't run into Aldcock. Lee, Ezra, Elijah Noah. Or Vincent sounds great

I quite like Noah and Elijah.

Ha, I definitely know it could be worse! I actually quite like it - it's our family name and I don't think anything of it in everyday use. Just when you're naming a baby it's obviously something we need to think about!
