Help me find a boys name...

I am going to be really fussy, dismissive for ridiculous reasons and probably sound like an arse on this thread. But I am really stuck. We've had a girls name set for a few months and I am still happy with it. But the boys name.. we keep going off them.

I need help.

I don't want anything common, in both senses of the word.

Our list thus far has been:
Jackson
Deacon
Brodie
Caleb

And I liked them all at first, and now I hate them. I think they sound chavvy. I have a DS with a top 10 name and thankfully he goes by a lesser used NN anyway, but still, I don't want to repeat that. He's one of 4 in his year.

HELP!

My advice at this point would be for you and DH to sit down, write a list of 20 names you would name 20 sons if you had them today, and see where the common ground is.

ThistleLickerIsGoingToBeAMummy · 19/01/2014 02:10

Do u know gender of the baby?

We always likes Logan as as name

rosen oh we have tried. We have been discussing names for 6 months and can't get any to stick. We have fairly similar ideas but we go off them.

This didn't happen with the girls name..

We actually like Logan but can't use it.

I know you said ur ds1 has a popular name but what is it? Mite give us a clue on the 'strong name' you like.
Heres some boy names I know
Archie
Owen
Rory
Riley
Noah
Harry
Matthew
Thomas
Myles
Max
Jake
Jackson
Lucas
Finley

I like
Greyson
Rowen
Ryan

Wont be offended if none of these suit, i started a thread asking for girls names recently and havn't seen any that i like.

Rosencrantz · 19/01/2014 15:28

Juno, if you both write those lists, there is bound to be at least one name that crops up on both.

You might not love it like you do the girls name, but it would be a better conclusion that this endless searching.

Juno77 · 19/01/2014 16:08

We've honestly tried that. There are loads of names that we both like, but then we go off them in a day/week whatever. One stuck for over a month then we decided we weren't keen (deacon).

jazzy ds's name is on your list!

And I don't dislike a lot of those, but they are too plain. I definitely want something unusual and uncommon

I think your trouble is partly that in principle you want an unusual name but at the same time you're very much in tune with naming trends -- for example, Jackson's had a huge rise in popularity over the last five years. So you're looking not just for a name that you'll love but also one that hasn't occurred to all the people who share your broad taste in names.

Juno77 · 19/01/2014 17:50

Possibly.

My other issue is that I want something unusual, but not something Chavvy. And I can't find that.

Duncan??? Bit old-fashioned but that's me Grin or Victor? Simon? Tim?

RoseHoney · 19/01/2014 18:13

Well if you like Jackson (which is Chavvy where I'm from ) then what about Jenson? Paxton?
Hmmmmm I'm determined to think of a name you'll like lol.

Juno77 · 19/01/2014 18:16

Jenson isn't masculine sounding enough.
Paxton sounds made up..

Victor, Duncan, Simon and Tim are all crappy names for a baby. Really sorry but I loathe them all! They're all a bit.. 80's for my liking.

OP posts:
Juno77 · 19/01/2014 18:16

FYI though I don't like them, Jenson and Paxton are more in the right direction.

OP posts:
RoseHoney · 19/01/2014 18:24

I agree on Paxton, it is a name though, but too faddy for me.
