Not Jean Grin

I'm 6 weeks pregnant with DC2. Just playing around with names Smile

If baby is a boy he will most likely be Frank after my granda.

A girl is more difficult! DD is Cassie and we love her name. Not on the dreaded top 40 list but wacky not wacky either.

I like straightforward, pretty but non-flowery names with a retro feel.

I love Betty (and Betsy) but stupidly named the dog that not anticipating any more babies!

What do we think of my current favourite, Cherry? Not to everyone's taste I know but I'm in love with it right now Grin.

I also like Dulcie, Violet, Maggie (my father would disown me for Thatcher) and Ivy and I like Dahlia but DP doesn't.

Any ideas?

Hmmm, you see Mitzi puts me in mind of a Yorkshire Terrier.

What about Sylvie which I also suggested up thread?

Cassie and Sylvie sound good together.

stopprocrastinating · 29/11/2013 13:19

Alice

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 13:19

I don't think I'd use Mitzi. I just like it's retro feel.

Don't like Sylvie.

Oscar, Millie and Tilly are all dog names to me! Westie names!

Ada

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 13:20

Don't like Alice. Too English.

Gawd I'm fussy Blush .

I knew a cute Westie called Alfie (RIP Alfie).

You need to rename your dog Cherry and the baby Betty/Betsy. It's a win-win.

PainAuxRaisins · 29/11/2013 13:25

Gloria/Sylvia. Perfect 40s/50s glamorous names which aren't toooo common....I think Darcy is probably getting a bit popular thanks to that ballerina woman.

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 13:26

I don't like full on lady names Pain. I need a wee bit of cuteness thrown in. Gloria and Sylvia are too mature.

OP doesn't like Sylvie so prob wouldn't like Sylvia.

What about Peggy?
Or Meg?

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/11/2013 13:27

Right then, I really really think you should go with Dulcie or Dolly.
(just don't let Dolly become a dancer!)

GideonKipper · 29/11/2013 13:28

Trixie?

MortifiedAnyFuckerAdams · 29/11/2013 13:28

Stella
Robyn
Phoebe
Willow
Fern
Juno
Pippa

Wannabestepfordwife · 29/11/2013 13:36

Queenie
Marcy
Heidi
Greta

MummyBeerest · 29/11/2013 13:38

What about Bunny? Smile

Or Maisie if you like Maggie?

Or Greta (ala Garbo)

Beehatch · 29/11/2013 13:40

Ida
Iris
Agnes, or the old form Annis (which would give you Annie as a nn)
Edna
Coco

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 13:41

I like the style of Queenie (similar to Dulcie) but as ardent anti-royalists it's a no Grin .

Maisie is another doggie name to me and too cutesy.

Don't like Greta. It sounds harsh to me.

Trixie might be veering into stripper territory Grin .

I have a relative who is known as Dolly, nothing like her actual name, but a childhood nickname that stuck. She is late 20's now, I never use her real name, she is just Dolly!

Beehatch · 29/11/2013 13:42

Bunny is great
Which reminds me of Queenie which is awesome

My nans nn was Binty Confused

GideonKipper · 29/11/2013 13:44

Nah, you want Patricia for the stripper Wink.

Actually, what about Pattie/Patty?!

Queenie - was she not Bert Baxter's gf in Adrian Mole? Definitely an old lady name.

ABitterPIL · 29/11/2013 13:47

Joanne
Ellen
Ivy
Lorna

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 13:47

Bunny makes me think of The Secret History. It's a bit rich lady on the upper west side. I couldn't use it in real life.

Patty is a no. Makes me think of Patty in The Simpsons Grin .

Artandco · 29/11/2013 13:52

Gretal

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 13:54

I mentioned Lana upthread somewhere! I like it but DP doesn't.

I feel pretty confident I'll choose one of the names from this thread if baby does turn out to be a girl!

Tentative shortlist:

Cherry
Dulcie
Dolly
Marnie
Violet
Annie
Frankie

Thanks everyone Smile .

Taffy- I know it's normally a girls name but it's cutesy
