Not Jean Grin

I'm 6 weeks pregnant with DC2. Just playing around with names Smile

If baby is a boy he will most likely be Frank after my granda.

A girl is more difficult! DD is Cassie and we love her name. Not on the dreaded top 40 list but wacky not wacky either.

I like straightforward, pretty but non-flowery names with a retro feel.

I love Betty (and Betsy) but stupidly named the dog that not anticipating any more babies!

What do we think of my current favourite, Cherry? Not to everyone's taste I know but I'm in love with it right now Grin.

I also like Dulcie, Violet, Maggie (my father would disown me for Thatcher) and Ivy and I like Dahlia but DP doesn't.

Any ideas?

Some of my mum's friends:
Maureen
Stella
Linda
Patricia
Christine
Barbara
Jan

Margie

There are quite a few Jeans!

They're all born late 40s/50s/60s.

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 12:05

I'm loving Annie.

Not keen on Penny and it makes me think of every time I hear it Grin

Not keen on any from that list Robin.

I love Cherry and Marnie.

In fact I am putting Marnie on a 'if we have DC4' baby name list.

MrsBungleScare · 29/11/2013 12:10

I'm obviously not v good at working out what genre a name is! Grin I really like marnie, though. I also love Lana, I considered it for dc2 but dh vetoed it as it spells anal backwards Hmm he always bloody notices things like that.

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/11/2013 12:11

Julie
Sheila
Karen
Lindsey
Olivia/Libby
Diana/Dinah/Deanna
Audrey
Josephine/Josie

Grin at anal backwards!!!

Marnie is DP's favourite.

I still love Cherry but I'm a bona fide weirdo and that's just fine by me Grin.

No to that list Bore

It reads (to me) like a 1970's school roll call.

Penelope
Lucy
Dulcie
Clementine
Eliza
Letitia

I love Violet.

MortifiedAnyFuckerAdams · 29/11/2013 12:15

Olive
Tess
Meg
Alice
Norah
Pearl
Francesca

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 12:15

I like Lucy. It's a safe backup name.

Love Clementine (Kate Winslet in Eternal Sunshine) but don't like Clem as a nn. It sounds like a toothless yokel in the deep south.

Dulcie is already on my list Smile

tweetytwat · 29/11/2013 12:15

Margot
Maud
Edith/Edie

iwouldgoouttonight · 29/11/2013 12:16

I love Dulcie, Violet and Ivy. And Peggy and Maggie (although I don't think I would do it because of Thatcher).

Elsie
Connie
Olive
Judy
Martha

VivaLeBeaver · 29/11/2013 12:16

Nancy.

I think I'd rename the dog and call the kid Betsy as that's a fab name.

PeterParkerSays · 29/11/2013 12:17

Frank and Dolly sound great together - go for it if you have a DD.

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 12:18

Aw I can't do that Viva. She's a mad puppy and is only just starting to recognise her own name!

I do love Betsy though

I don't like Nancy.

Effie?

I have a great aunt Effie.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/11/2013 12:19

Dogs don't recognise their names, they recognise the tone of your voice when you call them. If you called her Ketchup in the same tone she'd look up. Grin

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 12:19

Frank and Dolly do sound fab.

I'd have to have another DC after this pregnancy to make that dream happen. Not sure I can handle it Grin.

Effie is ok. Makes me think of Effie Trinket.

I like Cherry.

VivaLeBeaver · 29/11/2013 12:19

Yup, my dog responds to Ketchup. and Betsy

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 12:19

Grin Viva

BunnyLebowski · 29/11/2013 12:20

Dana is Sigourney Weaver in Ghostbusters.

There is no Dana only Zuuuuul!

That's a no. Ahem.
