Baby names

Which completely inoffensive names do you absolutely hate for no justifiable reason?

I will start.

Francis.

Loathe it. Couldn't say why really. There are no bad connotations - it's neither 'chav' nor 'toff'. It's not made-up or too-trendy or old-fashioned. I couldn't say that the sound of it is awful. It doesn't remind me someone who bullied me at school. It's not even boring. I just fucking hate that name. Whenever I am introduced to a new baby called Francis, my reaction is always: "But why? For pity's sake, why? Out of all the possible names available, you chose Francis? You have some seriously terrible taste there, people." "Gosh, how lovely."

Same goes for Christopher. And Jenny.

Perfectly inoffensive names. Could give no good reason for my antipathy whatsoever.

I like Alice, though wouldn't call me DD it else I'd sing "who the f...
I like Francis, spelt either way, for either a girl or boy.
Don't like Richard, was an awful boy at school.

Celtic it's because I'm not used to seeing It I suppose, as said in the thread everyone will say oh lovely and thing fucking gross.

Seeing I hate the name Bob when your name is Bob is a bit yuck, I don't like to think anyone would judged me because they had known a Bob who was a nob so now I am one 2.

Charlotte

I understand that everyone else in the world loves it. I hate it, for not reason at all.

I am teacher and some of the names I hate are definitely due to teaching.
I could never name a child Daniel for this reason (shudders)

Called my dd2 after a little ray of sunshine I taught one year, possibly one of my all time favourite children. her name is quite old fashioned and serious, but not to me any more, it is the name of a bunch of giggles.
Actually dd2 is pretty much like her namesake in character too

I can't stand it either, BikeRunSki, but I shouldn't have put it on this thread as I do have a reason. A tenuous prissy reason, but a reason nonetheless.

Why are so many girls called Tegan/Teagan/T'ee'ghaene these days? I don't like that name either.

Bluelights sorry you feel that way. I wouldn't. I wasn't aiming at you with my comment, just interested by all the 'this won't end well' comments. I didn't want you to think I was getting at you. Smile

I loathe the name Toby. Reminds me of Toby jugs which makes me think of jug ears. Irrational I know! Not keen on Alfie.

Martha.
Rebecca.
Ellie.

I'm also another who dislikes Mark (I think it's because it puts me in mind of a sea-lion barking ...).

Somerset we are kindred spirits with the exception of Lily.

I do dislike Lilly for no reason except ^what is the point of the extra L?!*. I know it's the same name when said aloud but I just don't like it.

Seth.

Its a bit like the sound I make to scare away the neighbour's cat when he's about to poo in our garden.

And Louise. A loo with wees? Hmm, juvenile I know. Louise's actually seem to be lovely in RL, so feel a bit guilty about that one. But can't help it.

BarbequedBillygoats one of the names you listed is my Dad's and he completely agrees with you. Absolutely hates his name. Actually his middle name is in there too...haha!

Woohoo! Neither mine nor my DD's name listed yet (will prob cross post with both names now).
I LOVE the name James though. I think it is a classic strong name that will take a person from birth to grave.

Harvey - makes me think of liver (although I quite like liver!).
Connor with 2n's, Conor is fine.
Callum.
Ethan! Was v relieved to see someone else didn't like it, I thought everyone else loved it!

They're the only inoffensive ones I can think of. All the others I hate are horrible Wink

My dd1's name seems hated by several - you weirdos, what's wrong with you? Grin
