At my son's swim lesson there is a mum who continually yells Oceana to her daughter as though to let everyone know what an unusual name her daughter has (she does this every week - as you might tell it is getting on my nerves somewhat). I loathe the name. I think it is really pretentious. But Denim is pretty awful. I wonder if anyone else named their kid after 1980s aftershaves? Hai Karate? Tabac? Aramis?

Mothership4two · 30/08/2012 01:40

On babynames.com it does list Denim as a boys and girls name. It is mainly used in the US (it would be wouldnt it). There is also the name Denham which is an old English name.

xmasevebundle · 30/08/2012 01:46

I just looked, i am stunned. I have heard really unusual names, but denim?

Poor child, he looked very sweet.

Oh my i think id tell her to shut up! I dont no why celebs call their children horrid names. Ivy?????? Do people no it means poison.

i did not know whether to say he or she, and i never found out.

Mothership4two · 30/08/2012 01:52

Actor Jason Lee called his son Pilot Inspektor!!! And Rob Morrow (from Numbers and Northern Exposure) called his daughter Tu (get it?!) Hmm

Mothership4two · 30/08/2012 01:53

my grandmother was called Ivy! Blush

Mothership4two · 30/08/2012 01:55

might have been Jay/Jaye

RagingDull · 30/08/2012 01:56

nope. i checked. it was simply the letter J.

xmasevebundle · 30/08/2012 02:02

Are you joking with the tu? Poor children of this earth. I don't hate Ivy its just the meaning of it.

I have picked ralph for my son people said its slang for sick? I did google it and its correct made me abit put off but its 'slang' and slang isn't really real so to speak.

Libra for a boy. Unfortunately his classmates didn't think first of the horoscope sign but of certain ladies' necessities...

BlueSuedeStiletto · 30/08/2012 02:45

Looooads at work.

MJ (full name, just initials)
Tekeela (yep, spelled just like that)
Angel Gabriel (first name Angel, surname Gabriel)
Shoosh
Cloud (baby boy. Not registered when I met him so fingers crossed they changed their mind!)
Baby
Renault
Li'lo (with apostrophe)
Lorry-blue (girl)
Hash (boy)
Melina/Meleena (for god's sake STOP CALLING CHILDREN THIS!)

Tis often hard to keep a straight face!

Naoko · 30/08/2012 02:49

Many years ago, my local newspaper had a birth announcement for a particularly unfortunate little girl called Doremi. Who does that to a child?!
