Oh dear DD's name and four of the names on our shortlist for the DC I am pregnant with have turned up on this thread. Not weird names at all, just out of popularity standard english names.

I guess its just a matter of taste.

Boys would be Wesley.

Girls, I have an irrational dislike for the name Lola (I always start singing she was a showgirl).

I met Kuki (as in the biscuit) Krumbel Smith once on holiday. The parents told me that they put Smith in there in case she wanted a normal name. She was a very cool little girl though, so carried Kuki off well!

What's wrong with Ivy? I don't particularly love it myself but why is it any different to Holly or May?

Jamie olivers children are called Poppy Honey, Daisy Boo, Buddy Bear and Petal Blossom Rainbow. Personally i think they are beautiful names!

mamaLou13. I don't mind the girls names but calling a boy Buddy Bear is just wrong. It sounds like the parents let his 5 year old sister name him after a visit to Build-A-Bear. Much too twee and babyish for my liking.

Budd for an adult might be a lot touch American, but where would you go with Petal Blossom Rainbow? All beautiful words, but (sorry Jamie, I think you're ace) I would hate being called Petal or Blossom as an adult.

If it helps J&J, I love Poppy and Daisy... and my dog is called Boo Smile.
