We are a bit stuck.

We did have a name but it's shortened version has put my right off.

The boy is due in 6 weeks and he is in danger of being a number. We both liked Remus but it just isn't a name i love. We like Wolf and tbh it is on the cards BUT we tend to have red headed childrena dn i just can't see a red head Wolf.

Octavius will be in there somewhere as he is dc8.

Cosmo is winning atm. What do you think?

Maybe I'm just not spending enough time getting down with my homies? but I think that is perhaps a step too far with linking the two?

EdithWeston · 21/10/2011 15:46

Rudie is a normal nn for Rudeboy, and the Specials "A message to you Rudy" was about drug supply.

I suppose it's like Scottish people being aghast at Southerners liking the name Ned. It's very wrong in some places, normal in others. All depends on where you are, and where you think your DC might end up.

Dummyhunter · 21/10/2011 15:49

i went to school with a wolf and a tiger both are now early 40's and wouldnt change their names for all the world but l do like Octavius esp for number 8.

NoHunIntended · 21/10/2011 15:56

Darn that charred fox! It's such a great name!

IslaValargeone · 21/10/2011 15:57

Edith, I'm an optimist, I'll take the positive connotations of Huxtable and Giuliani :o

fredandginger · 21/10/2011 16:04

PLEASE call your boy Beowulf (epic hero, fantastic story) with Wulf/Wolf as a NN. Please. I'd never dare myself, but I do love it

belgo · 21/10/2011 16:06

Wolf Octaaf/Octavius is a fab name. Very close to my ds's name.

phlossie · 21/10/2011 16:06

I don't think it matters about the dog! Rufus (my DS's name, I always suggest it!) goes with Rupert my dad's name! Or Rowan (my name, but good for a boy too) also means 'red haired' - DS and I are both blonde, I always tried to see a bit of strawberry blonde at least, but it wasn't to be.

I love Cosmo - it's one of my favourites, but my DH won't consider it.

Can you tell us your other 7 children's names?

Maternelle · 21/10/2011 17:15

Wolf is a brilliant name.

scottishmummy · 21/10/2011 17:22

yes if you have four legs and howl at night
if you have to go to school and endure sniggers of 100s weans laughing then its not so good

scottishmummy · 21/10/2011 17:23

rudeboy=gangsta big up the crim terminology.may have beem ska in olden days not now

largeginandtonic · 21/10/2011 17:24

Fredandginger my dh has been asking for Beowulf. He LOVES it. I do not.

Rupe's is what the hound get's called. Can't have a Ruf and a Rupe. Tbh dc 7 and 7's names are so similar i am sailing close to the wind.

Dd2 (dc7) was called India at birth but...dh went away to sea. She had BIG blue eyes and ds1 started calling her Bluebell aaaaand it stuck. She is now Bluebell India.

You can well imagine it get's shortened to Blue, Bella and Bubble (don't ask) We have BEAU fgs. Sometimes i despair of myself. You should ahve seen dh's face when he came back form sea 4 months later. That was funny. Poor man.

With all due respect you want to stand shouting wolf in park, well that's your look out. Really if it works for your,go for it.certainly wouldn't expect anyone to be deterred by strangers online pov

Maybe world needs a few more wolfs

EdithWeston · 21/10/2011 17:57

Wolfie Adams (darts) is really called Martin.

And Citizen Smith of the Tooting Popular Front was really Walter.

Any good?

ShowOfHands · 21/10/2011 18:18

I love darts. Wolfie is fabulous. Loved The Adonis the most.

Erasmus is picked by women with wonderful taste. I like DS4's middle name. Would you consider using that?

scottishmummy · 21/10/2011 18:25

Love darts?what's to love it's not skilled athletes or deft physical endurance and thrills is it.some fatties in ployester...I don't get it

RnB · 21/10/2011 18:38

If the 8th child then I would also go for octavias! What are your other children called?

ShowOfHands · 21/10/2011 18:39

Do you only like skilled athletes then? Nothing outside of that?

I enjoy it for the game it is. I like many things. I don't expect everybody else too though. Grin

ShowOfHands · 21/10/2011 18:41

*to

scottishmummy · 21/10/2011 19:00

The droning commentary and bristling polyester just doesn't enthrall me

Psammead · 21/10/2011 19:06

Well, at least it's not golf.

Anyway, I think Wolf just about squeezes past the playground test.

largeginandtonic · 21/10/2011 20:37

Rafferty? I love it but he get's called Hugo Rafferty Peter a lot. Full name. You know when we are trying to hurry him along. Never ending request with Hug's.

I think he will be a Wolf in all honesty. I want to SEE him fgs. I bloody hate the end of pregnancy.
