We are a bit stuck.

We did have a name but it's shortened version has put my right off.

The boy is due in 6 weeks and he is in danger of being a number. We both liked Remus but it just isn't a name i love. We like Wolf and tbh it is on the cards BUT we tend to have red headed childrena dn i just can't see a red head Wolf.

Octavius will be in there somewhere as he is dc8.

Cosmo is winning atm. What do you think?

Wolf is name for an alsation perhaps.wee boy no
If you lie wolf so much adopt it as your deed poll name don't inflict on child

Boobz · 21/10/2011 13:05

What about Dashiell, Dash for short? Dashiell Octavius?

Sausagesarenottheonlyfruit · 21/10/2011 13:12

PLEASE use Wulfric, it was my favourite name but I couldn't use it for DS as DH vetoed it. It is such a great name. Wolfy as nn.

scottishmummy · 21/10/2011 13:28

Some of you live in lala land or Nw1 picking such cringey names and then choosing it's diminutive - really can some of you imagine standing in a park oh wolf, woodie, dash it's time for tea

EdithWeston · 21/10/2011 13:35

I think Wolfie is Tooting Popular Front; definitely not north of the river.

Boobz · 21/10/2011 13:42

But wouldn't life be boring with only Toms, Harrys and James' ScottishMummy?

scottishmummy · 21/10/2011 13:47

Yes but trying too hard is cringey parents
Agree that Sam,jack,Freya,all overdone too

LilPud · 21/10/2011 13:59

I'm with scottishmummy here - remember children are cruel to each other and no son will thank you for naming him after a womans monthly magazine or a wild animal. Maybe it's a scottish thing.

Psammead · 21/10/2011 14:06

How about Rohan?

Cosmo is not to my taste. Octavius is cool though!

CaptainNancy · 21/10/2011 14:11

What about Duncan, Kester, or Ludo?

NoHunIntended · 21/10/2011 14:23

Another yes vote for Wolf here. Cosmo to me says magazine.

Or for a red-head, Fox?
I love Octavius for an eighth child - perfect!

I don't suppose you want to share what your other DC are called ?

Methe · 21/10/2011 14:26

Rohan is lovely.

PelvicFlAAAAARGHOfSteel · 21/10/2011 14:27

I love Cosmo, I know one and it's not a name which I'd have a problem shouting across a park (I always think that's a good test).

I like Octavius but not Occi and understand the Tavi problem.

I think you'd have to be a certain type of person to carry Wolf well, are your other DC confident and outgoing?

largeginandtonic · 21/10/2011 15:03

Nohun i did like Fox for a while. Then there was an unfortunate incident involving the dog and a dead, charred fox, some flip flops and a very ms plagued me. Fox is OFF the list < holds back vom thinking about it >

Rohan is a no. Dh said no too.

Most of them are outgoing. Beau is a Mummy's boy, Jonah fairly quiet. The others are mad.

You never know what you are going to get though do you? They are red, blonde or brown haired. Some slept well and fed easily. Others notsomuch. Different mix every one. That is why i find it hard to pick a name and set it in stone before they come out. Sometimes you need to see them.

Dd2 was going to be a Dulcie but when she was born it just didn't fit.

IslaValargeone · 21/10/2011 15:18

Could you do Rudy? that has wolf connections.

largeginandtonic · 21/10/2011 15:20

Xavier is good. Have a mate with one. Quite like Monty, dh doesn't as much.

OP posts:
largeginandtonic · 21/10/2011 15:21

Ah Isla we have Rudyard on the pencil list somewhere i think. Personally it is near Christmas he is due and i liked Rudolph. Rudy for short. Dh thinks no Sad

OP posts:
EdithWeston · 21/10/2011 15:22

I'd be wary of Rudy - the gangsta connotations are not good (sorry).

IslaValargeone · 21/10/2011 15:25

Oh what a shame your dh has siad no
Gangsta connotations really?

GetOrfMo1Land · 21/10/2011 15:26

I love Cosmo Octavius. 8 children! I hope they have all got such wonderful and grandiose names.

What about Reynard? French for fox (long shot I know).

Rufus is very good, shame that you have a pet Rupert. I much prefer Wolfgang to plain Wolf.

FannyNil · 21/10/2011 15:28

Not Wolf. Please not Wolf. Why would you want your DS to have Hitler's nickname?

CaptainNancy · 21/10/2011 15:29

Arf@ Dulcie- her actual name is somewhat removed from that! Grin

I have never heard any gangsta connotations for Rudy, it's a lovely name.

Maxim?

EdithWeston · 21/10/2011 15:39

'Fraid so, about the gangstas:

"In more recent times 'rudeboy' is a term that has come to be synonymous with street or 'urban' culture in the UK. For today's youth, the term bears none of its older connotations of ska and skinheads, instead harking back to something more akin to its original Jamaican meaning (criminal or juvenile delinquent). In modern multicultural Britain, it is not a term limited by race: black, white and Asian young people alike have been known to adopt this identity. The term rudeboy is notorious for its connotations of criminality, gangs, and drugs, yet it is an identity that has always boasted a rich musical affiliation too, ranging from jungle and drum & bass, to garage, grime and dub step".

Not one for city dwellers.
