Wolf, Remus, Octavius and now Cosmo?

We are a bit stuck.

We did have a name but it's shortened version has put my right off.

The boy is due in 6 weeks and he is in danger of being a number. We both liked Remus but it just isn't a name i love. We like Wolf and tbh it is on the cards BUT we tend to have red headed childrena dn i just can't see a red head Wolf.

Octavius will be in there somewhere as he is dc8.

Cosmo is winning atm. What do you think?

Wolf might be better as nn for Wulfram or Wulfric (and I don't see why they shouldn't be red heads!)

If Octavius is an 8th DC, that would really be a "wow" name.

I think Cosmo is lovely too.

(I'm not being much help, am I?)

Methe · 21/10/2011 12:17

Love Remus, dont like any of the others. Wolf is ridiculous.

EdithWeston · 21/10/2011 12:17

BTW: there is a red wolf species - canis rufus - here's a link to the everythingwolf website, which has pictures.

Montsti · 21/10/2011 12:18

Definitely Octavius (or Octavian...) of the choices, however think Atticus is lovely and in the same vein (sp..)... Congrats on your 8th child - wow!

Methe · 21/10/2011 12:19

Ahh I missed that he was your 8th Shock

Remus Octavius goes well I think.

largeginandtonic · 21/10/2011 12:20

You are! You didn't laugh for a start.

I like Octavius just know he would be called Occi or somesuch. Not really keen on that.

Love Wulfric. We have a Beau, bright red hair. Fairly small built. Mummy's boy Grin I just can't see a Wolf like that. Dh is tall and broad shouldered, v dark hair. I can see him as a mini Wolf.

Who knows what he will come out like!

I suppose Octavius might end up as Octopus! Perhaps it should go in the middle?

largeginandtonic · 21/10/2011 12:23

Do you think Remus Octavius sounds like a Gladiator? Not that i am opposed to a Gladiator son.

Cosmo goes well with the other names. It is a very old English name.

Arghhh. Is HARD.

largeginandtonic · 21/10/2011 12:24

I think Octavius as a middle name too. I may put another middle name in if it doesn't go really well with the first name we chose.

One of the dc has 3 names because i couldn't decide! It took us 6 weeks to name him!

Cosmo Octavius sounds excellent as long as your surname doesn't begin with an N, S, G or anything else you could make a 3 letter word with [hgrin]

Not so keen on Remus (as Romulus & Remus are planets in Star Trek, plus because of the way the original myth ends).

EdithWeston · 21/10/2011 12:28

Remus is surely Lupin, these days?

I agree you do have to be careful with initials with a vowel in the middle.

largeginandtonic · 21/10/2011 12:29

Oooh Aheadlesswoman i like you. It does sound good. A little out there but cool i think.

Dh likes it too and it has been a challenge to agree on names.

largeginandtonic · 21/10/2011 12:30

Surname begins with a Y. We are safe.

ShroudOfHamsters · 21/10/2011 12:30

Cosmo Octavius. Brill.

Flossie69 · 21/10/2011 12:36

Thinking out loud ..... red headed wolf...... canis rufus........
How about Rufus? Grin

largeginandtonic · 21/10/2011 12:38

We LOVE Rufus but we called the dog Rupert and it is just too similar. Damn it.

Psammead · 21/10/2011 12:44

Wolfgang is very cool.

othersideofchannel · 21/10/2011 12:44

I love Remus and Octavius. I know plenty of Octavias who aren't the 8th child and equally many Quentins who aren't fifth born, so I don't think the meaning matters that much imo.

I'm less keen on Cosmo, might be shortened to Cos, which isn't very masculine imo.

othersideofchannel · 21/10/2011 12:45

Oh, sorry I misread your op. He IS your 8th child, then definately Octavius!

Mummyinggnome · 21/10/2011 12:47

Love cosmo - Wolfgang is pretty cool too!

Methe · 21/10/2011 12:48

It does sound a bit like a Gladiator but IMO that can only be a good thing.

scottishmummy · 21/10/2011 12:50

Cosmo I like
Wolf is ghastly trying to hard to be hip parents

pumpkinsmash · 21/10/2011 12:53

Octavius - Tavi for short.

Wolf is ridiculous Grin

MrsHoarder · 21/10/2011 12:57

Cosmo Octavius Y. COY???

I hope this lad isn't shy at school.

largeginandtonic · 21/10/2011 12:57

No, no to Tavi. Used to live in Plymouth near Tavistock. It is always called Tavi. Can't do it.

Octavius will be a middle name for sure.

Wolf is fabulous! Shurrup Grin

Cosmo still winning... Cosmo Octavius. I have written it down IN INK on the baby name list. Dh back from work soon, will discuss.

Ta people. I am so pleased not to have been snorted at Grin
