Tillyboo · 11/10/2007 17:51

I don't know what's going on but this is the third post I've tried. If this fails I'm going to give up.

Anyway, I can't seem to find the old thread for some reason, my laptop is doing funny things so maybe it's at my end?

Anyway, I cannot see what you all have achieved so far this week but here is my blog with what I have done or you can have a peep in my profile but the pictures are quite diddy

Tillyboo · 08/11/2007 22:09

Dingle - I only jest

I don't like this new page set up thingy at all. I've changed it up to a point but I don't like having to scroll through pages.

DD in bed, dh out at a work function and I really should be 'making' BUT I'm enjoying the peace and quiet watching the tele in the dark ... and off to bed in a mo to read Phillip Pullman. Ah heaven !

GM - going to go into town tomorrow am when DD at school so should be able to post in pm!!

Can I ask how you appliqued your animals onto the vests? (Was thinking about xmas pressies for nephews etc.) Do you use something to stop the fabric fraying or do you turn under a hem?

jeangenie · 09/11/2007 08:12

Hi guys - gosh you lot are so busy these days I can't keep up! great things going on all around - I have left comments on everyone's blog I could find - I love it all!!!

so, my updated list

complete AnnieMcC's new feet and redo her mouth - WIP
sort out Eli's blanket - DONE - Hurrah!!!
start on some xmas tree decorations - not yet started but thoughts are germinating...
sort out fabric for some tweedy corsages - went looking in the charity shops yesterday but they are charging stupid prices (£24.99 for a deeply undesirable to anyone but me who wants to rip it apart for corsages coat anyone?)
decide what colour yarn to make this FOR MYSELF!!! - not yet, is on the long finger for now I think

Eli's blanket was a resounding success - Eli is the son of a good friend and colleague of mine and he is honestly the best recipient of a craft project you could hope to find - when I brought Eli's blanket into work he was so happy, said he is not going to give it back to the child but put it in a glass case as it is a work of art (it's not, but was very sweet of him to say so) - I remember when I gave it to them after Eli had been born he and his wife said it was the best present I could possibly have given them (and I had been nervous as it wasn't shop bought and so could have been considered stingy by some). Don't you just love it when people are so appreciative of all your time and effort. I'll be making more for that little family!

I haven't updated my blogas have been too busy with RL to actually manage anything much, am away for the weekend but hope to get stuck in properly next week

LucyK hope you had lovely evening out

Tillyboo · 09/11/2007 08:56

GM - Can I add to Dizzy'z question too ? Where do you get your plain bodysuits from ? Do you buy branded ones (Asda, Tesco etc.) and then cut the labels out or do you source unlabelled ones from somewhere ?

I want to do some long sleeved ones for my fayre and found some on the American Apparel website and although they are very good quality, they are expensive so not sure they'd be viable.

OP posts:
Gingermonkey · 09/11/2007 09:17

Dizzy and TillyBoo. I buy them from Asda (they are the cheapest but best quality ones I've found - About 2 quid a pack) and I use fusible web (I use steam a seam 2) to stick them onto the vests, then stitch round to make sure they are extra stuck on. They are so easy, and really quick to do. Asda also have some nice, plain long sleved t-shirts that are cheap and wash really well.
Hope that helps!!!

Just got back from Swimming & Asda - Brrr... it's flippin cold out there.

We spent ages and ages in the pool, dd was so much more confident in a non lesson environment and also she could touch the bottom all the way round the pool - so she was off all over the shop.

I have managed to get some short sleeved bodysuits but they didn't have any long sleeved ones.
GM - do you leave the Asda labels in ?

So, seeing as we have had loads of exercise this morning I'm hoping to have a quiet afternoon so that I can get some crafting done seeing as I only have a week til my first fayre . Agh !

OP posts:
Gingermonkey · 09/11/2007 17:00

oooh, too cold for swimming, TB!!!
I snip the labels out, print off new ones (just stickers - not fabric) with 'handwash with care' on (just to cover my back!!!) They do wash fine, and actually tumble dry too without coming off.

Tillyboo · 09/11/2007 17:09

I've managed to finish part of my challenge, You can see her on my blog.

Please, please, please, I need some help with pricing though, I'm sooooo useless at pricing things !

I'll post a general thread as well (for those crafties not partaking in our thread) just so I can get enough suggestions (hopefully) to take an average price.

Thanks GM, that's great re the suits. I am very much a water baby and feel totally at home in the water so swimming in the winter doesn't really bother me. I like to think I may have been a lovely mermaid in a previous life, but in reality, I was probably a brown trout, a stickleback or something equally boring
