The government need to take this more seriously

PassTheDuckie · 09/04/2023 17:23

Yes they do. I’m sick of it.

Terrible. I hate dogs.

Jonei · 09/04/2023 17:24

People should not be allowed to own these dogs. Enough is enough.

thegrain · 09/04/2023 17:24

It's very scary when I think about it too much. There's nothing to stop them.

LlynTegid · 09/04/2023 17:25

The law should be such that if a dog harms someone such that they need hospital treatment, the owner faces the same criminal charge as if they had inflicted the injury (or worse) personally themselves.

If your dog were to kill someone, you face a charge of manslaughter.

Viviennemary · 09/04/2023 17:25

Absolutely dreadful. That poor little baby. Dogs are becoming a danger in this country. Not a week goes by without news of the latest horror attack.

Jonei · 09/04/2023 17:25

Police have confirmed that the dog in question was seized and has since been destroyed.

But people should not have them in the first place.

Yes. As a dog owner I 100% agree with tgis. That poor wee child, just a baby and experiencing that trauma.

Someo · 09/04/2023 17:26

Poor baby.

I hope they make a full recovery.

Goldenbear · 09/04/2023 17:26

What kind of dog is that, looks scary.

Lbnc2021 · 09/04/2023 17:27

Poor wee thing, I hope she makes a good recovery

DuesExMachina · 09/04/2023 17:27

Dog licences

Goldenbear · 09/04/2023 17:28

Obviously, poor little baby, how awful for them.

Righto.

Something needs to be done to stop irresponsible people from owning dogs.

This.

I'm at a holiday park in the uk atm, the amount of dogs here is unreal. Most of them just little ones but there are some absolutely massive dogs too, on lead but also the long leads, it just makes me so nervous having two little kids

Sailingaround · 09/04/2023 17:32

Poor kid! Absolutely disgusting behaviour by the owners as well in regards to hiding their dog! They care more about the dog than any future kids getting their faces ripped off. This is why this unhealthy attitude to seeing dogs as more important than other people/ children has to stop. Dogs are NOT better than humans.

I wonder what exactly transpired, like did it escape from their house or were they visiting. I’d never willingly have a small baby around any dog tbh.

It’s horrible 🤢

Viviennemary · 09/04/2023 17:32

I googled this. Apparently the attack happened inside a house. The police have since seized the dog and it has beem destoyed.

MyFaceIsAnAONB · 09/04/2023 17:33

Eurgh. That dog is enormous. Scum of the earth those owners!!

Good news. One less dangerous dog off the streets. Now it’s time to start jailing the owners.

I agree with this and I do have a dog.

I'll be honest, I judge people who have these American bully pit bull type dogs. I can't think of a legitimate reason why you'd feel the need to have one over all of the other many breeds available. And yes I do know that other breeds attack but these are far more common and dangerous.

A friend of mine has a new boyfriend with a couple of these types of dogs, the way he treats them is awful and I hate seeing pictures of my friends child with these dogs. Yeah, I judge.

L3ThirtySeven · 09/04/2023 17:34

This happened to a friends daughter in the US. They sued the dog owner and got $50k which was used for plastic surgery on her daughters face until she was 10 to correct the scarring and disfigurement.

I wonder if this is possible in the U.K.?
