Could you not have just put the link up rather than the photos?

You didn't have to click on the thread

“No they aren't. They are wild animals. “ Which humans chose to domesticate. Human fuckery… again. Not happy unless meddling.

In fact, I see a common theme, we’re the bloody problem.

staybyyou · 09/04/2023 18:50

This is so sad, that poor baby.

I've noticed that there are more dogs everywhere, especially since the lockdowns. And many are not very well trained. A few times dogs have run up to my children, who are quite nervous of fast unpredictable dogs, and preceded to chase them as they've then run over to me. Most times the owners have no recall ability and have to physically come over to grab their dogs. That is not ok in my opinion! People don't even say sorry, just look at my kids like they are silly! I've also had dogs jump up to lick or sniff my toddler who is strapped into a buggy, which is terrifying for him. He can't get away! And again owners can't seem to call their dog away. It really annoys me, especially when they say 'oh he/she is friendly! They are very good with kids', well maybe my tiny kid doesn't want your massive dog running at them or licking them! And I say this as someone who likes (well trained) dogs.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 09/04/2023 18:52

I love dogs. Have always had dogs. Currently live alone and, without my dog, my mental health during lockdown would have been in the toilet.

But. Some dogs are just not meant to be kept as pets and some people are just not any good at keeping dogs as pets. I know one bloke who's got himself a Staffy which he is 'training to be an attack dog.' Absolutely no need for an 'attack dog', he's just some bloke who wants to feel big and important and think he knows that his dog will attack on his word. I wish I could take that dog away from him.

@TropicalTheIslandBreeze brainwashing. You really post some utter nonsense you do. Don't use this to froth about your hatred of dogs. So predictable.

It is a shocking image and heartbreaking.

But nothing is changing. These threads happen every few weeks

@TropicalTheIslandBreeze you want to ban dogs entirely?

Absolutely.

Frothing about the mauling of a baby! Who'd have thought it? So melodramatic, sure the dog was just playing really!

People need to see. Though sadly this keeps happening and still nothing is done.

CheeseMcKnees · 09/04/2023 18:56

Also, dogs aren’t a wild animal, they’re domesticated.

DuesExMachina · 09/04/2023 18:56

Lockdown dogs are accessories.

People let them run around the park while chatting on their phones.

They have them on long leads and laugh when it trips up a toddler.

If you want a dog you should need a licence which should require you to be assessed and pay for the privilege.

Oysterbabe · 09/04/2023 18:58

There are so many dogs that are selected for the natural traits that the breed have. My parents got a border collie and he was crawling on his belly, trying to herd the chickens without a single day of training. Suddenly when it comes to these dogs bred and selected for power and aggression the breed is irrelevant, it's all about the owner and poor training.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 09/04/2023 18:59

Isn't the real problem that the people who own the kind of dogs that do this are the type of people who won't bother being licensed, getting training or being authorised in any way? And the police barely have time and manpower to attend quite big crimes, never mind checking that everyone who owns a dog is properly authorised to have one.

DuesExMachina · 09/04/2023 18:59

Maybe about £1000 would cover it.

Home check, DBS, references and interview with a vet and/or dog behaviour specialist.

bamboonights · 09/04/2023 19:00

pickledandpuzzled · 09/04/2023 18:05

Specialist breeds should be licensed. Owning an unlicensed dog - say any dog over weight x- should be a crime.

Licenses only go to people with experience of managing large breeds.

Certain breeds should be allowed to licensed breeders and owners only. It's way overdue and I say this as the owner of a giant but well known extremely family friendly breed. I'd be happy to take a test to be an owner at any time to prove my knowledge and worthy of the breed I want to own.

@DuesExMachina the poster just uses it as a platform, not sure they're bothered about the stories they use, they simply despise dogs.

With some justification given how often this happens

I know someone who's just bought one of these 'bully'(?) dogs
Right now its a pup but it will grow up
She's just got her 3 kids back after ss put them in care due to her breaking up with the kids dad,it got nasty and they both turned to drugs
She's got clean, got them back and promptly got one of these dogs
She's spashed it all over fb,with 'it's going to grow up with the kids,so it'll be fine'
It's a fucking attack waiting to happen-its going to grow up and be too big for her to walk it
But it's OK,not only will it grow up with the kids and her other dogs (2 staffs) but she'll train it not to attack-forgetting its a dog-a bloody big one at that

Ss couldn't care less

This is sort of owner who gets my guts churning. You can almost see an accident waiting to happen purely just from what you have written.

I don’t disagree. It would be in the best interests of the dogs as well as society as a whole.

If only there were tests and checks for everyone before having children.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 09/04/2023 19:13

I am a dog lover but hate these bully breeds. In fact, I have a real fear of big dogs because they need proper training and to be under control - too many of which aren’t.

I really wish these dogs would turn on the meatheads who own them. That would be two birds killed with one stone, wouldn’t it? Unfortunately, it always innocent people who get injured or killed by these bully breeds.

She seems to think that as the kids are older (aged about 10,8 and 5/6) she can teach them not to pull/tug/wind it up
My son has a staffie (no kids) and he is the most soppy, loving and trained animal I've ever met-but not a chance would he allow him to be around kids unless he's (or another adult) there
She's got two staffs and wanted a 'status dog'
This thing is a tiny, tiny pup (5 weeks old) and if I didn't know about the breed I'd say its cute
It's too young to be have taken from its mother,is a dangerous breed and shouldn't be allowed near a grown adult let alone small kids-even of these kids are used to dogs
I've heard so many times that the dog just went for someone with no warning-i guarantee that one of these kids will be in the papers one day with her wailing that 'He was a good boy-i don't know what happened!' And ss saying 'lessons will be learned' (again)

I’m certainly bothered about these regular maulings. If dogs get banned, all the better. Banning the extra dangerous breeds is a good start though.

AlwaysGinPlease · 09/04/2023 19:32

@PassTheDuckie If dogs are banned? Do you actually hear yourself?

EyesOnThePies · 09/04/2023 19:32

So how did this occur exactly? The child was unsupervised at the time, with a strange animal.

Do we know whether the dog / child were supervised? And what difference would it make? That dog that attacked a police horse kept on attacking and inflicting injuries despite a kicking bucking 18hh horse, and several adults, one of whom had a massive stick. What use is supervision if a massive dog like that goes for a small baby? No use at all!
