I feel sorry for animals who are treated so badly. The owners are entirely to blame.

Bully breeds were bred to attack. That’s what they do.

It's not the dogs it's unfortunately the type of people who own them

Oh behave.

I am a cat person. By your logic I should be allowed to keep a Lion or Tiger if I promised to look after it well.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 09/04/2023 18:13

I remember being a child and my mum refusing to let me go to a friend’s house because they had a Rottweiler.

At the time I thought she was just trying to spoil my fun. Friend said the dog wouldn’t hurt a fly.

Looking back they had a massive dog in a three-bed house with a small garden.

She was right. I appreciate her doing that.

These are (mostly) working animals. They’re not meant to be cooped up in tiny houses with tiny gardens and never walked because “he/she pulls…”

You feel sorry for aggressive, dangerous dogs like this?!

I feel sorry for their victims.

Redebs · 09/04/2023 18:14

Poor baby
Time to stop people breeding these large aggressive dogs. Nobody needs a bully, staffy, rotty or husky. Just neuter the lot of them and we can stop putting children through these horrific attacks

Article actually said inside a property not inside a house as i said. Sorry. Dont know if this makes a difference. Maybe was a shop or a pub.

News sources are reporting inside a house.

It is bigger than just that, these large powerful breeds should never be companion pets in the first place. They are not suited to it and even with apparently decent owners their needs are unfullied as a pet and they will always be a risk.

I don't think a human did that to the baby's face. Stop making excuses for inappropriate dog breeds.

Terrible. I hate dogs.

I hate people, they are the ones responsible. Idiots with little penises usually. It will continue to happen until the humans are held accountable for the dogs actions.

Dogs are the UKs answer to guns in the US.

OhMyCherriePie · 09/04/2023 18:20

I don’t get the love for dogs I can’t stand them

FragranceFree · 09/04/2023 18:21

Dog lover and owner and I hate these bully types too. Something has to change. I've only come across one and the owner was clueless.

Who do you think it is breeding these dogs?

Bullshit. I don't know why people even post this crap. No one buys these dogs because they make great family pets because they aren't.

SerendipityJane · 09/04/2023 18:18

Dogs are the UKs answer to guns in the US.

Except in the US they have a double whammy as they have a real pitbull problem. A day doesn't go by without someone being killed by one.

BlahBlahBlah82 · 09/04/2023 18:26

It's irresponsible dog owners. My child used to love dogs until someone near where we live used to let their dog run up to them barking every day. The dog kept getting out and was run over and killed.

They then got a new dog which cornered my child at a play park (the dog shouldn't have been there and was off lead). My child was petrified.

I called the owner to bollock them for being so irresponsible. They blamed my child for "scaring their very friendly dog". Fuckwit!

MYSTERIOUSGIRLONLINE · 09/04/2023 18:26

Aww the poor wee baby, I hope he goes on to make a full recovery and not scar him mentally for life. My point being on another thread if an animal has teeth it's potential to bite as this being yet another case has proven. Sending my thoughts and hugs to the little one and his family at this dreadful time in their lives!

I truly believe it's brainwashing. Dogs are everywhere in films and TV shows, start them young on cartoons and dogs are heroic amazing creatures with human traits. It never used to be like this.
What is there to like about a stinking, slobbery, shitting beast in your home, that restricts your ability to be spontaneous, costs a fortune, and makes lots of people avoid you.

BlahBlahBlah82 · 09/04/2023 18:28

My child did nothing to the dog. They were playing at on the play equipment and then froze in fear when the dog ran up to my child.

True. I'd carry a gun over there to protect myself from pitbulls.

BlahBlahBlah82 · 09/04/2023 18:29

That poor baby and their family. Just awful.

Presumably that's why they need guns then ?

The fact NO is being banned shows that there seems to be something that can be done when the will is there.

Yet these attacks happen in the UK with almost clockwork regularity. The only conclusion to be drawn is that as a society we are happy with it. Because if we weren't something would be done (see above).
