there ya go Grin

make sure you have a lay down,

hope you feel better,

CheerfulYank · 04/09/2010 01:03

Hope you feel better soon, gomummy. Those migraines are a brother tucker. :o

Oh, the poor little man, tea. I hope you hear good news soon. DS did like adding "and please help the teeny weeny baby of mama's 'puter friend" to his prayers... :) I tried to explain that it was your nephew but I think he was still in awe of "computer friend" to try to work out any other relationships. :)

DS' preschool Open House was great; he's very, erm, "confident", shall we say, and so he ran around talking to everyone and asking if they wanted to be friends. He found a pilot costume and lined up a bunch of chairs for his plane, and all the other boys and girls were excited to be his passengers. :) Quite the little attention hound! I'm really glad he's excited to go, I don't think I could stand to drop him off and have him be upset.

Beautiful job on the bench, tiredmum! :)

I'm off to the movie theater to see Eat, Pray, Love all by myself in the quiet dark with a giant diet Pepsi and some peanut butter m&ms. Ahhh....BLISS! Have a wonderful weekend, Benchers!

gomummy · 04/09/2010 15:09

Thanks Tiredmum, the bench looks lovely! :)

Cheerful your DS sounds so much like mine, wanting to be the star of the show! :) He sounds adorable. Envy of your quiet, dark movie theatre though! Hope you had a great time.

There was no silence here all night, so migraine is raging. Seriously is it normal for people to set off real, full size fireworks all night in their backyard? Our council is seemingly against the noise bylaw we've been begging for, which means there is nothing we can do but jump ten feet in the air every twenty minutes or so when the pop-squeal-bang scares us half to death (as of course you're just getting to sleep when they light the next one!)! Angry

Ahhh, I should not be posting this but am in so much pain with the migraine that I am livid about being kept up all night.

:(

Tiredmumno1 · 04/09/2010 15:26

Aww gomummy, that sounds so awful Sad

some people are so bloody ignorant, if i were you i woulda been tempted to go and shove the fireworks up their backsides.

Angry for you.

cheerful your boy sounds so lovely, i am glad he wasnt upset, at least you know he is happy Smile, hope you enjoyed your lone time, wish i could do things like that.

tea hope everything is looking brighter today

gomummy · 04/09/2010 15:41

Thanks Tiredmum, needed that. I told my DH at 2:10am that that is exactly what I was going to do, but was in fact in far too much pain to move. Why can people not behave in a civilized, considerate manner? Argh, must stop talking about that now. :(

What is everyone else up to this weekend? Is it a long weekend (holiday Monday) anywhere but here? We are still harvesting & prepping veg for winter, a busy time so hopefully I can get some pain relief from my meds. What are you all eating tonight?

teaandcakeplease · 04/09/2010 19:05

We had this for dinner

I live in flats and most of the time things are ok but I use ear plugs if something is annoying me. I do seem to notice even low level irritating sounds and then get fixated on them. Fireworks are one of those things that you cannot sleep through though, it's so sudden and loud. How did your son sleep through them?

Do they usually do fireworks or was it for a special occassion or something?

OP posts:
gomummy · 04/09/2010 19:54

He didn't, Tea. We had a horrible night. He was terrified, each one sounded like a gunshot when he was just starting to calm down. He fell asleep about 5am when it was over, but by then I was so upset and in so much pain there was no way I could even try.

The fireworks are a first, but there is always something new, loud, obnoxious and inconsiderate. It is so frustrating sometimes I just sit down and cry. :(

We are almost having your dinner! Didn't even steal the idea, just a coincidence. Except that we must add spinach to all pasta dishes these days for DS to accept it. Hmm A strange new obsession, but this one I don't mind catering to a bit as it is healthy and I grew way too much spinach this year

gomummy · 04/09/2010 19:56

How is your nephew today, Tea?

teaandcakeplease · 04/09/2010 19:57

I'd end up moving. I couldn't live like that but it's so wrong that anyone should have to even consider it Sad

OP posts:
teaandcakeplease · 04/09/2010 19:58

After nil by mouth for 24 hrs, he seems a little better but I'm holding my breath, as it is all up and down and praying the same as before.

OP posts:
teaandcakeplease · 04/09/2010 19:58

Your poor little boy, bet that fouled up his routine today Sad

How's your head?

OP posts:
gomummy · 04/09/2010 22:13

I wish I could Tea, but there is no way I can move for another decade at absolute minimum, so this is like torture. :( I can't live like this either, it is making us insane.

DS is such a happy little boy when we follow his routine, but when he's had it fouled up he's so upset, it breaks my heart. Just a bad day here all around, migraine isn't helping things either. Trying to keep it in perspective, but it's hard to have perspective when in pain with no sleep and very unhappy little one, iykwim.

Glad your nephew seems to be improving a little, what a roller coaster of emotions for you all, it must be really tough. How are your brother & SIL holding up?

teaandcakeplease · 04/09/2010 23:54

I think there faith is the only thing holding them up right now.

10 years? Sad No wonder you feel insane, it's hard to have a vision for the future and be positive, when you imagine things being like this for that long. I'm so sorry, it must be a nightmare for you. I'd go mad.

I'll ask the big man upstairs for a good nights sleep tonight, no harm asking Wink So sorry your head still hurts so much and your day has been tricky.

CheerfulYank · 05/09/2010 01:19

Oh gomummy! I am coming to visit for sure if I possibly can because I will be having a word with your neighbors, believe me! And my DS is just the same, a lovely little boy when he's not hungry or tired. But if he is...WATCH OUT! :( for you! I can barely stand to hear someone breathing when I've got a bad migraine, let alone stand the noise and light of something like fireworks. We had to call the police because some neighbors of ours were having an extremely loud, outdoor party at 3 a.m. last month. I know them slightly so I didn't even try to go over and speak to them about it.

Tea, I'm glad he's doing a bit better! Will keep him in our prayers until he's out of the woods.

I really did enjoy my alone time Tiredmum! Some days there's just nothing like quietly eating chocolate in the dark, is there?! And not having to share... :o

Nephew was doing better today, although slightly jaundiced still. Seems to be digesting his food a lot better. SIL got to hold him today for an hour.

They have chosen a name: Noah. Love it! :-)

OP posts:
gomummy · 05/09/2010 21:27

That's great news Tea, hope he continues to improve. Noah is a lovely name choice. So happy for your SIL getting to hold him like that, it must have been wonderful for her.

Tiredmumno1 · 07/09/2010 21:06

Helllooo,

Noah is a sweet name tea, so glad they chose one, and its nice to hear he was a bit better, how is he now? And how are you?

Gomummy, so glad your head was feeling better, i hope it stayed away. I reckon that pillow i left for ya did the trick Wink

Cheerful, your you time sounded lovely i wish i could do that. You make sure you give gomummys neighbours a telling off from me

Having to endure the footy at mo

CheerfulYank · 07/09/2010 21:07

Hi tea! Glad that he's going better. Noah is a lovely strong name! :) How is he doing today?

It was my first day back at my "real" job today after summer vacation...UGH. I lost one of the children. I mean, I found hims again, but this does not look good on the first day. I was supposed to be keeping on eye on the student I work with (I'll call her Jane) and this other boy with similar issues (Jack) while they were playing outside at recess. That was all well and good, a bit tough since there were 70 some kids running around, but doable. Then the whistle blew and Jane lost her mind. She just fell to the ground screaming and kicking because she didn't want to go in. So I got that sorted out, got up and found that Jack was nowhere to be seen. So....lovely. Apparently he had gone inside the door they used last year and was wandering around by his old classroom. So that was fun. Sigh...

DS has his first day of preschool today! It went well; he's literally two doors down from the classroom I'm working in, so that was nice. He said he had a very good day and had "happy feelings at school!" :) It's funny, all the little girls in his class have names that are a bit different (Elexa, Adesyn, Piper, Prairie (yes, Prairie), Arianna) and then the boys are Sam and Joe. :o I'm going to put his "first day" pictures up on my profile in the next week or so.

Glad to hear you're feeling better gomummy! It sounds like you're having a lot of fun with your garden.

CheerfulYank · 07/09/2010 21:08

x post :) Hi tiredmum!

Tiredmumno1 · 07/09/2010 21:37

Hi cheerful, your day didnt sound to bad, did you enjoy it otherwise.

Sounds like your ds had a great day, so thats a good thing, its funny about the names, i think people sometimes go a bit wild with girls names lol

teaandcakeplease · 07/09/2010 22:21

I'm ok. Nephew still in SCBU, still tiny etc. Long road to him coming home. Poor love.

Your DS is sooo cute Cheerful Smile Glad he had a nice day. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for you. I think anyone else in the same situation would have lost track of the other lad for a minute quite frankly. You had your hands full.

I'm super tired, so can I just apologise in advance for typos Blush

gomummy · 07/09/2010 23:02

Hello all! :) Been busy and missed the bench!

Tea I wanted to ask if your nephew had pooed (is that a word?) yet? Hope so, poor little guy. Have your IL's backed off yet on the long-distance visit?

Cheerful you sound so well suited to your job, I would have been absolutely freaking out, you sound like you take it in stride. Must be really challenging to watch two in a large group running around like that when either one has some kind of incident. So glad your DS enjoyed his day, and it must be so nice for you to know he is just down the hall...

Tiredmum do you not get any time on your own either? We have no form of child care other than me, so I know how you feel. I absolutely adore being at home with DS full time, but once in a while when I'm exhausted an hour of quiet alone time would be a thing of beauty! :)

CheerfulYank · 08/09/2010 01:36

Thanks, gomummy, I am uniquely suited to my job...you have to be laid back and firm at the same time. It's one of the only things I'm good at, so I'm glad it's something I can get paid for! :o We'll just have to try again tomorrow, but if I keep losing the kid they'll have to send a reinforcement. :)

That must be hard to be the only childcare for both you and tiredmum. I love DS to absolute bits, but I think if I never ever ever got a break I would drink a lot be a bit irritated. :o

Thinking of little Noah, tea! Let us know how he's doing.
