Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who enter the Gazebo and sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from ApocalypseCheese, CheerfulYank, Anyfucker, HairExtensions, gomummy, tired mum and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up !

Awww for your little DS tiredmum! I really wish we had uniforms here. It's hard enough getting out the door in the morning. Totally Envy at the thought of one less decision to make! Yes, do find out what you're having! My best friend (well one of them, there's three of us and we call ourselves the Tripod, so original :o)is due in a few weeks and did not find out. I can't stand it! I think with my next one DH and I will find out but not tell anyone, so we can still have the fun of announcing it to family and friends after the delivery. :)

Gomummy DS has a sailboat theme, with nautical stuff. :) How about your DS?

gomummy · 21/09/2010 02:04

Aww Tiredmum, sounds adorable, I would be in tears no doubt! Agree with Cheerful, wish we had uniforms here too, for a number of different reasons. Are we all going to guess before you find out? Before we guess, you must tell us if you hve a "feeling" either way yet!

Cheerful that's what we did - DH and I found out but did not tell anyone. Well almost....the day before I went into labour, DH's dad was very ill and we thought he might not make it, so we told him early. Thankfully he did recover, and only told us months later that he had kept the secret to himself and felt so special for knowing! :) It is nice to keep it to yourselves, but v. hard not to slip up and say he/she, etc.!

DS had a sage/khaki/cream gingham w/ teddy bears room for the first 2 yrs, lots of dark cherry wood. Now we're all about trains, lol! However, I can tell you that a navy/white nautical room was in the top three....DH vetoed painting the navy! He avoids painting like it is the plague (normally fine as I love it), however had no choice as I could not get out of bed....so wouldn't do any dark colour requiring multiple coats, lol!

Oh now a tiny poll to help Tiredmum plan her nursery!

  1. What was the most useful thing in your DC's nursery?
  2. What was your favourite thing in your DC's nursery?
  3. What would you have changed about your DC's nursery?

Mine would be....

  1. Useful is a tie between la-z-boy recliner and installing dimmers on lighting.
  2. Favourite - overall "ambiance," not specific thing
  3. Would have had some kind of secondary heating installed, temperature hard to regulate.

Woah, giant post! Time to polish bench!

gomummy · 21/09/2010 18:41

Thanks Elmo! :) How are you today?

Welcome back Tea, hope your camping trip was fun! When you have time you must update us on how little Noah is doing.

teaandcakeplease · 21/09/2010 18:42

I've only read back to Fridays posts now but here's a quick symopsis. Swanage was so lovely, the campsite was so nice. Lovely pool and playground on site which DD and DS enjoyed with their cousins and a nice loo block. Very important in my book wink We went on the Steam Train in Swanage on Saturday which was fun and afterwards grabbed a pastie and went to the beach for a while, before returning to the campsite again and DD going for a swim with her cousins. Sunday we had a cooked breakfast and a slow pack down whilst the kids went to the playground. The kids slept quite well really, DD did wake up cold on Friday night and woke DS with her shouting but they both went back to sleep fairly quickly. Saturday night they didn't wake at all. My word it was cold at night in the tent, I had to sleep in several layers as I gave all blankets to the children the days were lovely and sunny though. My DCs loved playing with their cousins and enjoyed relaxing with my brother and his wife. Lovely weekend, just went too fast.

Noah is doing ok. He's being fed 35mls of milk every 3 hours, which is loads better. Mummy and daddy are getting to hold him a little more now and he's filling his nappies well, which was an issue before. He may get moved rooms in SCBU to one of the nurseries soon. He won't be going home for a while yet as he's still being fed by tube, his heart rate dips from time to time still and he's still below 5lbs in weight. He's now 34 weeks, hoping by next week his sucking reflex kicks in and his mummy can actually breast feed him from herself instead of expressing. Early dasy still Sad

I never decorated my babies room at all. It was plain white walls and a blue lamp shade and curtains. Still is. Because H was always terrible with money, we always scrapped by and never had enough for decorating. Hoping when the divorce is finalised I'll finally have the funds to make DCs room nice. The decree nisi was pronounced last week, I'm seeing the solicitor next Monday to start to discuss finances and getting a court order for him to cough up every month arranged. Right now even spending a £10 is a lot to me. Mr brother paid for my camping trip, the steam train and towards my petrol. So kind of him. The break was well needed as I hadn't been away this year at all.

This post isn't very upbeat is it? Sorry.

There's a lot of typos in my message. Sorry ladies, I'm feeling rather tired Blush

elmofan · 21/09/2010 20:16

Ooh tea you have had a hard time recently
:( , i really hope things start to look up for you very soon x .
Great news about Noah , sounds like the little man is coming on in leaps & bounds Smile

gomummy · 21/09/2010 20:40

:( Tea I'm really sorry things have been so rough. How do you feel about your decree being pronounced? I felt really sad that day at first (about marriage failure itself, not about ex-H at all, if that makes any sense), but then suddenly felt very free of it all, free to start over, not sure how to explain it but it was really good for me. Hope you are feeling that fresh-start kind of feeling.

Good news that Noah is coming along, though it must be a long, difficult road. I will be v. happy for them when his mum is finally able to bf him instead of expressing, I bet that will be just wonderful for her, and great for him too.

teaandcakeplease · 21/09/2010 20:56

I think until I have the decree absolute I won't feel free. However as we have DCs together I guess I'll never be completely free of him. iyswim?

OP posts:
gomummy · 21/09/2010 21:49

Yes, I can imagine that Tea. But still hope you get that start-of-my-new-life feeling when you receive your decree absolute.

That feeling, or a pilot. Grin Whichever you prefer.

CheerfulYank · 21/09/2010 22:04

to Tea...it's ok to not be upbeat sometimes, that's what the Bench is for! You will always have to have some type of relationship with DH b/c of DC, but not having a legally binding one at some point would probably feel better. I hope what I'm going to say next doesn't make you sad or anything at all, because that is not my intention, but: What can he have been thinking?! Honestly. I mean, I don't know know you of course, but I feel like I do a bit, and you seem lovely and caring and the mother of his children. Hmmph. It makes me Angry for you.

Ok, rant over. I'm sorry.

Anyway, good news about Noah. He is still in our prayers and I'm glad to know he's doing a bit better. Also I know how you're feeling with the money thing; we spend a lot of money just trying to stay in our house and now we have no money to fix it up and it's a decrepit heap! Well, it isn't really but I feel it is. We're going to paint it this week and while it seems an unsurmountable task, I'm so excited to have it done!

Hmm...most useful thing in DS' nursery was a rocking chair. I think next time I'm going to ask close relatives to make donations toward spring for a lovely big stuffed one.

My favorite thing was the crib; my Dad made it. It's a big white sleigh-type one and he branded DS' name and birthdate into the underneath of it. Will have to think about the others. :)

teaandcakeplease · 21/09/2010 22:21

He was thinking with another part of his anatomy not his head Grin OW is very different from me. I'm hoping the differentness (is that a word?) will start to grate after a while and he'll realise she's not all she's cracked up to be, once reality sets in and they actually live together. Rather than a long distance relationship.

Need to go to bed, the words on the screen are moving. Sooo tired.

OP posts:
gomummy · 21/09/2010 23:22

Crib sounds lovely Cheerful. Will DC2 also get their name & birthdate branded on the bottom? What a lovely heirloom it will be. You will not regret the big stuffed chair. We used a v. old and comfy lazyboy so I wasn't overly obsessed with worrying about milk stains, etc., and it was an absolute lifesaver as I could fall asleep in it in those early days. I should let it go now but am emotionally attached to it, lol! Blush

Tea I bet you are right, once they live together and day to day life becomes reality. Same has happened to someone v. v. close to me and that is exactly what took place in the cold light of day --he couldn't stand it. Now five years on, she is moved on and happy with a wonderful man and he is...well, I shouldn't say, but suffice to say he was v. sorry and has fallen apart as a result of having to lie in the bed that he made himself. Cheerful is so right, but I am a big believer in you reap what you sow.

Tiredmumno1 · 22/09/2010 16:42

I had a rocking chair, when the boys were babies and i loved it, found it so relaxing.

okay who wants to nominate themselves to start the next buddy bench thread, before it gets to late Grin we are running outta room agggghhhhh.

maybe we talk to much lol Grin

gomummy · 22/09/2010 17:20

I would be terrible, wouldn't know what to say in the opening post. Will need someone to help me carry the bench over to the new thread though as Tiredmum shouldn't be lifting this time. :)

teaandcakeplease · 22/09/2010 19:02

It transpires that Noah has an inguinal hernia that will need to be operated on. And there we were thinking he was almost out of the woods. Gah! Sad

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 22/09/2010 19:31

Oh the poor little man! :( Let us know more when you know.

I nominate tea to start a new thread again as she did such a lovely job last time :)

teaandcakeplease · 22/09/2010 19:37
