Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who enter the Gazebo and sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from ApocalypseCheese, CheerfulYank, Anyfucker, HairExtensions, gomummy, tired mum and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up !

No it won't do any harm.

I'd plead with plumber on trying to do it the least costly way too.

Plumber quoted ?250 for the new boiler & ?150 for him to fit it . I explained on the phone that its been a bad day & about the car etc so he is forfeiting his call out charge in the morning so as he can access the damage , which is nice of him . If we dont get the leak to stop the kitchen ceiling might need replacing so its a job that cant wait unfortunately .
Might be cracking open the vino tomorrow night to drown my sorrows Wink

Tiredmumno1 · 13/08/2010 22:56

Evening ladies,

aww elmo that sounds terrible, i hope you get it sorted, what horrid things to happen in one day

hoping the rest of the bench are ok? Smile

gomummy · 13/08/2010 23:02

Ugh Elmo that is tough, hope things go well when the plumber arrives tomorrow.

Evening Tiredmum, hope you are well. Things are as usual here. Have a mushroom/feta knish, I have eaten...we'll just say several. Blush Think you still have mail too btw! :)

Tiredmumno1 · 13/08/2010 23:31

Awww i am ok gomummy just tired so i will be off to bed soon.

hope you are ok, and trying to get more sleep.

i shall check my mail tomoz, its easier to reply from the computer, and i havent had it on Blush

its easier (and lazier Grin) to use my phone to pop on to mumsnet.

gomummy · 14/08/2010 00:15

Aww, you've just made my day! :)

Oooh, MN on phone, I would so never get anything done if I could do that here, lol!

elmofan · 14/08/2010 12:34

All sorted now Smile
That little prayer worked tea Smile thanks

I canceled the plumber that i phoned yesterday as my sister rang me first thing this morning with a phone number of a plumber her husband knows well & he came over at 9am this morning & sorted out the immersion & only charged ?100 . The ceiling in the kitchen is ruined as it was a wooden decorative ceiling but our house insurance should cover that.
The car can be picked up later from the garage , its up & running again but will need to go back in a week or two to have a big part changed in it but at least it gives us a chance to save up for that .
Its a beautiful day here so going to take pup & dc's to the park for a picnic later & relax after such a hectic day yesterday.

teaandcakeplease · 14/08/2010 12:57

Yay! Obviously he's watching out for you Wink

That's great news Elmo! :)

elmofan · 14/08/2010 18:07

Agggghhhhhhhhhhh sorry spoke too soon , went to pick up car & then took dc's to the park but when we got home we found the boiler leaking again but this time water coming up through the wiring so dangerous. Called the plumber & he came back over & had to change all the fittings as the other 1's we bought yesterday must have been faulty . I'm sick of it all tbh at this stage . will definitely be hitting the vino tonight .

gomummy · 14/08/2010 19:21

:( Sorry to hear that Elmo.

Have a big glass of white for me, it will help, albeit temporarily!

teaandcakeplease · 14/08/2010 19:55

Oh Elmo that is indeed rubbish Sad

OP posts:
elmofan · 14/08/2010 20:21

Thanks - plumber has been & gone again & said he has never seen that happen before in his 20years experience that the water comes up into where the wiring is . Dh has just checked it again now & theres still a tiny drop of water coming out of it but he doesn't want to phone the plumber again as the man has been out twice already today so we are going to wait & see what its like in the morning .
Thanks for the wine & sympathy , keep it on ice for me please until i get dd to bed Smile

gomummy · 14/08/2010 20:33

teaandcakeplease · 15/08/2010 15:57

Good been making cup cakes and then decorating with DD.

How's the boiler?

OP posts:
elmofan · 15/08/2010 16:39

Aww that sounds like fun tea Smile

DH checked it again this morning & theres still a tiny tiny drop of water but its not dripping anymore just feels damp where the seal is . Someone from the insurance company is due to come out to us either Monday or Tuesday to check out the damage so see how that goes . Hope they come Monday as dd has a hospital appointment Tuesday which were dreading .

gomummy · 15/08/2010 18:00

Isn't it fun, Tea? I love baking & cooking wtih DS. Never sure which one of us enjoys it more! :)

Good luck with the insurance folks Elmo, hope they are the helpful sort. Won't pry, but whatever your DD's hospital appt is for on Tuesday, I hope it goes well for you (and DD). You certainly deserve something positive!

Haven't seen HE in on the bench in a while? Or have I just missed her?

Tiredmumno1 · 15/08/2010 18:30

Blimey elmo sounds like are havin a tough time.

oh sod it muffins all round Grin

Tiredmumno1 · 15/08/2010 18:32

gomummy i havent seen HE or cheerful for a while

elmofan · 15/08/2010 18:45

Thanks gomummy & tiredmum Smile

DD has been referred to a respiratory specialist for tests as she has recurrent chest infections & has had 17 antibiotics in the last 11 months . Just dreading what tests they are going to do on her .

Is it too early for wine ?

gomummy · 15/08/2010 20:33

Thanks Tiredmum! Making a huge dinner tonight so hoping this virtual muffin should keep me from snacking as I go! (Terrible habit I cannot break, I always graze while cooking....or baking....or breathing for that matter, lol!)

Elmo I think I recall you had a thread about DD's infections a while back? That is so brutal (re: all the antibiotics), poor DD. Must be very worrying for you. Hopefully they can find the root of it and you can escape that cycle of antibiotics. Will send you good vibes on Tuesday...

Bit too early for wine just yet here, but have a glass for me and I'll be back later to partake!

Helloooooo! Have you had too much wine and fallen off of the bench? Grin

elmofan · 15/08/2010 22:03

Thanks gomummy . yes i had a thread a while back & have been waiting for this appointment since .
Grin

CheerfulYank · 20/08/2010 05:08

Had too much wine and fallen off the bench?

No, just been terribly, frightfully busy. As it seems Elmo has with that boiler and all, yuck! Hope everyone else is doing well.
