Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who enter the Gazebo and sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from ApocalypseCheese, CheerfulYank, Anyfucker, HairExtensions, gomummy, tired mum and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up !

Hi Elmo, long time no chat! :)

Aw, Tea, it must be hard, for both you and DD! DS uses his thumb also, though I imagine that will have it's own challenges at some point...

elmofan · 11/08/2010 17:23
Smile

Aww tea poor dd , the dummy fairy also took dd's dummies & left dd a thank you present which really helped .

Hi gomummy , hows things in your neck of the woods ?

Tiredmumno1 · 11/08/2010 17:48

Much the same here Elmo, situation not improving. And you?

Certainly I'll take credit for this gleaming bench, thanks Tiredmum, :) you know how to make me smile! And you have mail btw.

elmofan · 11/08/2010 19:28

sorry to hear that gomummy :( Hope you are sleeping better .

Things are good my end & i feel like a ton weight has been lifted off of me tbh .

teaandcakeplease · 11/08/2010 19:54

Really how come Elmo?

OP posts:
gomummy · 11/08/2010 20:13

Unfortunately very little sleep here these days. So glad to hear that things are looking up for you though Elmo! :) That is wonderful news. Really happy for you.

elmofan · 11/08/2010 22:23

tea Things came to a head iykwim
Fingers crossed that i have resolved my situation once & for all . Time will tell i suppose .

Oh gomummy i wish i had some advice for you . You must be worn out :(

teaandcakeplease · 12/08/2010 08:20

That's great Elmo.

I've just discovered there's another TeaandCake on mumsnet. Maybe I need to namechange so it doesn't cause people to think we're the same person. I've had this nickname for a while so it would be a bummer to change it but probably necessary Hmm

OP posts:
elmofan · 12/08/2010 10:47

Confused maybe she/he is new & doesn't know that you have this nickname , could you ask them to name change ? or add a little extra onto your name maybe ?

gomummy · 12/08/2010 13:09

"TheOriginalTeaandCake" perhaps?

Thanks Elmo, one day at a time...all I can really do.

teaandcakeplease · 12/08/2010 22:10

Mmmm yum! GoMummy if you feed people like this in real life, perhaps I need to be a stow away on a ship Wink I want to live with you Grin

I can't say "original" as they may have been about longer. The friends on my ante natal group have all told me to keep my name. Tricky eh?

Long day out today and I'm mega tired now, just catching up quick on various threads I'm on, before bed

OP posts:
gomummy · 12/08/2010 22:59

Grin Tea, I do in fact do that; my former boss gained 40 pounds from the time I started until the time I left and put all the blame squarely on me! (Never complained once before I left though, lol!) When I left work, my staff complained that they missed the food and were losing weight!

I changed my name twice before when MNers joined and picked names v. similar to mine. One was really upsetting people and I didn't want to be confused. I understand your dilemma....am terrible at thinking up names though. What kind of tea and cake do you like? JasmineTeaandPecanCake type thing? Or you could go with a more forceful version of your name...TeaandCakeRightNow...BringMeTeaandCakeImmediately? Grin

teaandcakeplease · 13/08/2010 08:11

You're my kind of woman Wink I used to bake cakes and take them into work all the time.

Yes if I noticed them being very "out there" I probably would name change smartish!

Well my soon to be ex H is coming to see the kids today. So I need to think of a plan to do something nice but now it's August, as usual the weather is cooling off a bit and is raining often. I always find June and July better. I sometimes think the school holidays are in the wrong month! Smile

OP posts:
gomummy · 13/08/2010 13:25

It was self preservation really, Tea, if I didn't take them in I'd eat them all myself at home, lol! :)

Hope things go well with your ex-H today. I continue to be thoroughly impressed by your approach to dealing with him.

teaandcakeplease · 13/08/2010 13:31

It's easy to get on amicably when they don't parade the OW in your face or talk about them to you. They help with the kids when they come and let you do house work and they're not causing problems in the divorce or being difficult and he doesn't expect me to introduce kids to her and understands that. He is pleasant to me and kind to the kids and they're happy to see them. I've lost all attraction or respect for him due to what he has done but we both can get along ok despite the divorce, so the kids are happy and all is ok. If he marries her and as the kids get older and easier, they may start to stay over at his and that would be VERY hard. But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Off to a soft play shortly with the kiddies together x

gomummy · 13/08/2010 15:11

You're an impressive lady Tea. And your DCs are very fortunate to have you. Have fun at soft play!

elmofan · 13/08/2010 17:38

I am having a bad day .......... i know its Friday 13th but this is going beyond a joke

Firstly the car would not start this morning & when we finally got it towed to a garage it needs ?500 worth of repairs .
Then we got home to find our immersion boiler has leaked & the water is flooding down in the kitchen .

teaandcakeplease · 13/08/2010 17:52

Now that is very bad and expensive day Elmo! I feel your pain Sad

I'm sure Gomummy will provide more treats soon to ease your pain.

I had a lovely day Shock

OP posts:
gomummy · 13/08/2010 18:17

Sorry to hear about your day, Elmo, what an unfortunate Friday the 13th you've had. :(

Glad your day went well Tea.

We have been finger/hand/foot painting outside, so a messy but fun day so far! (It seems that DS thinks my hair makes an excellent paintbrush, lol)

elmofan · 13/08/2010 21:36

thanks :(

Have waited 3 hours for a plumber to phone back & when DH described to him how old the boiler is (34yrs) he said we most likely will need a new one ........ we are now facing ?400 for a new boiler that can not wait as its still leaking (dh managed to slow the leak down but couldn't stop it)so plumber coming tomorrow morning & ?500 for car repairs .
Don't know whether to scream or cry .

Glad you both had a fun day Smile Thanks for the wine & food gomummy , DH & i skipped dinner as we were up to our eyes mopping up water in the kitchen ...... My parents were fab & took the dc's out for dinner thankfully .

teaandcakeplease · 13/08/2010 21:39

Sad Oh Elmo hope your credit card has plenty of room on it. Ouch ouch ouch to that bill and the car one Sad

OP posts:
elmofan · 13/08/2010 21:48

Not really tea:( i have to see if i can get a top up loan out of my credit union tomorrow morning that will cover the plumbers bill as that is a priority atm the car will have to wait .

teaandcakeplease · 13/08/2010 21:54

Oh no! Hope you've got a glass of vino. If you drink enough maybe you'll be sleepy enough not to worry tonight and sleep ok Sad

I'll ask the big man upstairs as well Wink

OP posts:
elmofan · 13/08/2010 22:05

Thanks tea , Smile

I wonder if our house insurance company might cover the boiler , might give them a buzz in the morning if they are open . Wont do any harm to ask i suppose .
