All yours brings to mind ,llandb, is Harry the Dirty Dog,my sister's favorite book for a long time,about which I can remember nothing(but reproducing for the war effort didn't feature much in the books we read when we were little!!)

Ooh, llandb, you must read it, put it straight to the top of the pile! And treacle has opened up a whole new vista of opportunities with Ms Heyer, how fabulous. (Think there might have been one or two, but there's definitely an untapped source there, methinks.)

By the way, sorry Pogle - you were completely right, of course - Piggy's glasses would do the trick nicely, you can be in my gang - I'm losing my brain because of half-term ...
