I have been a poster here for seven years, my first post was asking for help after a DX on DS1 regarding medication, I was overwhelmed by the amount of people who took the time to respond and give advice and share stories.
I remember there being a lot of jokes and support, one poster who lost family in 9/11 was an inspiration and at any time day or night there was someone about for a chat, it made night feed more fun.

Yes there were times when people "fell out" this is life, and the odd nut job who tried to convince people that 4 times the amount of calpol was safe but on the whole it was a nice place to be, however just lately (mostly since AIBU was added) it seems people are getting really nasty.

No longer can you have a good debate with out the usual stupidness and name calling, if you question immigration there is no debate you just get called racist, people with problems get called troll, the term Jog on is used daily as is daily mail reader, and I ask myself when did this site become a playground with the childish name calling, where are all the grown up, funny, articulate women who you could have a grown up discussions with.

It is so boring seeing the same old faces spouting the same old crap lines.

I guess someone will say if I don't like it leave, and I just might do that as mumsnet is not the place it was

As for ginger hair, where do I start..

Quattrocento · 22/03/2010 22:58

You have very liberal credentials tethers ... Have you thought about contributing to the guardian-readers thread?

piprabbit · 22/03/2010 22:59

But Sue - we don't post because we want to end up in the papers. It's the papers what nick our posts.
I'm more than happy if we get rubbished - it probably means that MN is getting it about right.

SmileysPeepul · 22/03/2010 22:59

I think it's exactly the same.

So much so that I presume most of the new bigwigs are the old bigwigs back and in disguise.

If they're not then it's intersting how the interenet heirachy restablsihes itself in a sinilar pattern. I dont use other forums. But do those that do find the pattern is generally hem same across interent cht forum things??

My dad reckns most forums have a left wing, PC bias, and that is the extent of my scientific research so far.

justsue · 22/03/2010 23:00

mmm let me think THERE IS A LIFE GOING ON OUTSIDE OF MUMSNET, which by the way is getting blasted in the papers (to which i seriously dont give a shit)

piprabbit · 22/03/2010 23:02

Pardon?

2shoes · 22/03/2010 23:02

so you don't give ashit......
so why the whinging?

NickGriffinBMP · 22/03/2010 23:02

I think we should build a fence around the Forest of Dean

justsue · 22/03/2010 23:04

actually I do give a shit and no I am not whinging, what I am saying is that if you are not in the click then you dont matter

Heracles · 22/03/2010 23:06

Haha! "My dad reckons"... "PC bias"... oh this stuff is GOLD.

oldenglishspangles · 22/03/2010 23:06

Mumsnet is just like a big school playground. You are left with a mixture of good and bad memories. At times there are reasoned rational post and one person will go on the attack and others will just join in for just the bloodfest and at other times i think there is what appears to be a much more genuine cameraderie.

justsue · 22/03/2010 23:10

awww bless so am I the one left alone in the playground lol, which actually in RL i was one of the ones that was in the IT crowd. it is a shame cos i have now found mumsnet to be controlled by a certain few with no other opinions accepted thats life

Quattrocento · 22/03/2010 23:11

Flushed with my enlightened attitude to freckled people (and ginger people too) I have contributed to the Guardian-readers thread. I advise you all to hie yourselves to Kilburn on Wednesday lunchtime to point and laugh at some bleeding-heart liberals. There will be beards and Arran jumpers in evidence ... Nick, I think you should go there, really. Take JustSue along with you, she needs a good laugh

SmileysPeepul · 22/03/2010 23:15

Heracles you forget to include the highly ironic (maybe I should have added an 'emotion' to make that clear for you?) 'and that is the extent of my scientifc research so far.'

BitOfFun · 22/03/2010 23:18

Who's controlling things? Really, I'm curious. Because I have never met these evil puppeteers. If anything, well-known posters get swiped at on occasion. Look at the Cod and Shiney-bashing that goes on. Heck- even I've managed to get up people's noses on occasion, and I'm lovely

justsue · 22/03/2010 23:18

fucking hell no wonder mumsnet gets bad press with you bunch of piss takers on board

jog on

Heracles · 22/03/2010 23:20

Sorry Smiley: my satire-be-found is on the blink. I shall leave, stage right, abashed.

ToccataAndFudge · 22/03/2010 23:21

the general camaraderie has gone though these days unless you're an old well known name.

There's either shouts of troll, or just ignored for everyone else.

BitOfFun · 22/03/2010 23:21

Why are you so upset? I'm puzzled, really. If you can take a bit of teasing on the chin in good humour, you might even find people remember you on other threads now- turn it to your advantage, you dafty!

SmileysPeepul · 22/03/2010 23:23

Heracles.

oldenglishspangles · 22/03/2010 23:23

Justsue that was an observation directed towards the OP, not a dig at you. I stand by that observation, it can sometimes be a great place to be and sometimes not.

NickGriffinBMP · 22/03/2010 23:27

Can we have a white only thread incase Im accidently talking to freckled people.

We can all stay in there nice and separate from the redheads and the like.

BNP Thread would be great as we can talk about things non freckled, all nice and separate and away from the rest separately.

We can have lots of of freedom to speech away from the other threads on our own, cause we really like separateness.

What a fab idea, can we..can we?

justsue · 22/03/2010 23:29

ok hands up I apologise...... I totally read this thread wrong. Very stressed with dad and dimentia etc (no i am not feeling sorry for myself) I just dont get mumsnet

ToccataAndFudge · 22/03/2010 23:32

I don't think I get it anymore either

oldenglishspangles · 22/03/2010 23:33

Toccata - I have been on MN for 6 years and when I get to the point it does my head it I just wander off and come back with a new name.
