AIBU Books Game Part Six

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 19:16

Now, we're on thread number six!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to think I'm seeing a ghost?

Well, llandb,I am impressed by your resourcefulness... maybe you should write a book about your experiences drifting...and then one of us could use you for an AIBU...

Night all!

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/02/2010 01:54

Convalescence is clearly not interfering with your detection skills, Pogle, well done! I'll stick with him then, despite The Morning Gift.

AIBU to be getting sick of doing good deeds?

MCP and night, all!

OP posts:
tortoiseonthehalfshell · 08/02/2010 03:18

Pogle, well, it is a girl but of course not the sort one could consider marrying. I just want to be able to keep her away from my friends.

Moomin, are your deeds ever rewarded?

CJCregg · 08/02/2010 09:21

Morning all! No ideas on anybody's, I'm afraid.

I'm going to keep my baby, in spite of the village gossip. To be honest, I thought I was pretty much past childbearing age, so it's quite a miracle to be pregnant at all. I just wish I knew who the father was .

Pogleswood · 08/02/2010 09:42

Morning!
So,CJ - is it that you have many candidates for the father,or none at all?? (sounds vaguely familiar..)

MCP!

steamedtreaclesponge · 08/02/2010 11:09

Are you a midwife, CJ? Yours sounds familiar but I can't think where from...

Moomin, do your good deeds keep going wrong and making people angry?

AIBU to want to keep this dog?

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/02/2010 14:03

Afternoon all, CJ, has there been an unexpected baby boom in your village? And is everyone stumped to name a father?

Otherwise, MCP all!

...That's just it. They do seem to get us into more rows than when we're just plain naughty...

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 08/02/2010 14:19

Moomin, are you trying to occupy yourselves now the family fortune has been restored?

MCP everyone else!

...he's a very well-behaved dog, but I don't think my aunt will approve...

CJCregg · 08/02/2010 14:57

Moomin, you are so clever. I knew you'd get it . Yes, I'm looking forward to being a mum but it isn't exactly an unusual state in Midwich!

MCP - I'm am tantalisingly close to some of these but am waiting for the light bulb moment.

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/02/2010 17:07

That's so nice of you, CJ, but most undeserved as I'm not close to having a light bulb moment on anyone's, more of a blown fuse, in fact!

And, yes, well done, Treacle. I must say I could see much more point to treasure-seeking than wouldbegooding. Oh, and are you an irritating ray of sunshine in your dog-loving persona?

Tortoise, you're beginning to sound familiar but I think that's just from re-reading your clues!

AWBU to lie to the children?

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 08/02/2010 21:15

Aha - no, she's not that aunt, Moomin, although she's just as grumpy at times! I think the dog belongs to those children I've seen around, but I have no idea where they live...

Can't even work out who is doing what any more...

CJCregg · 08/02/2010 21:40

I have no idea about anyone's, although I feel duty bound to ask Moomin if you're not telling the children about Daddy going to prison?!

AIBU to find this cruise rather a bore?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 08/02/2010 22:00

Nooo I missed The Morning Gift!

Blimey things have moved on. No idea on any of them, except to ask Moomin whether she's planning a trip to the woods imminently?

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 09/02/2010 00:54

...perhaps if my wife didn't suffer from her nervous ailments I wouldn't need to look elsewhere. But this girl knows how to make me feel like a real man. And she's so well educated, given her profession...

MCP, all

Pogleswood · 09/02/2010 09:20

Complete bemusement here....

tortoise, please,MCP,MCP - yours is driving me mad, hovering just out of reach!

treacle,are there five children?

MCP,CJ and Moomin too...

AIBU to dislike my daughter in law?

steamedtreaclesponge · 09/02/2010 10:00

Tortoise, does your lover have a skin condition and a sweet name?

Pogle, that depends - why don't you like her?

...No, there are only a couple of them, and their grandmother. They seemed very surprised that I could see them. I don't think it can be good for them staying in the woods, even if it is midsummer...

Pogleswood · 09/02/2010 12:44

..I've always disliked her - I can't imagine why she married my son.Now they are divorced,(though really I don't think her should have allowed her to divorce him)...

MoominMymbleandMy · 09/02/2010 14:49

Hmm, Treacle, might the mysterious people and the dog be from a secret world, perhaps?

Tortoise, all I can think of now is something on the lines of Mr Bennet meets Belle de Jour! Which would be nice for Mr Bennet, but I don't think Jasper Fforde's got round to writing it.

Pogle, CJ, MCP!

...The children do play in the woods and fields - we think they should be allowed to run free. But there isn't a railway nearby. Our problem is that they think they are all our children and they're not...

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 09/02/2010 15:32

Are your children human, Moomin?

Well done on the time gypsies! That book used to really spook me out when I was younger...

Pogle, does your son actually want to be divorced?

CJ - MCP! Where are you cruising?

Pogleswood · 09/02/2010 16:18

Still stuck here - MCP!

So what was yours,treacle??

...And,no - my son still loves her. I've just been told she is involved with someone new(until now I felt guilty about disliking her,she is beautiful,clever...not a wonderful mother though,in my opinion...)

steamedtreaclesponge · 09/02/2010 16:50

Pogle, mine was The Secret World of Polly Flint, by Helen Cresswell - very sweet and spooky and definitely worth a read, I think!

Does your DIL have a son who she totally neglects? And are they rapidly running into debt?

MoominMymbleandMy · 09/02/2010 17:20

Hooray, Treacle! I remember reading that to DD. Much more fun than Thomas the Tank Engine, which is all I fear I will be reading to DS.

Is DIL a rather skilful social climber, Pogle?

And Tortoise, are you about to leg it with your DD's governess?

MCP, CJ!

...Two of the children are my DH's by my sister...

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 09/02/2010 20:08

I don't believe it. I have just missed Run Away Home again and it went for a song again. Why must DCs shut their fingers in doors at the wrong moment?!

MCP, all!

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 09/02/2010 21:04

No ideas and have just nipped for a quick look, - should be talking to DD!

Never mind,Moomin - be brave, one day you will own Run Away Home... in the meantime I'd better get on with my copying, hadn't I?
