AIBU Books Game Part Six

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 19:16

Now, we're on thread number six!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to think I'm seeing a ghost?

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 28/04/2010 20:50

Oh,that's ringing quite definate but unspecific bells,Moomin.
I admire your self control - I don't think I'd be capable of doing anything other than racing through at top speed!

MCP!

MoominMymbleandMy · 28/04/2010 23:31

Oh, I'm longing to gobble it up, Pogle, but I know that's it unless I can lay my sticky paws on The Marlows and the Traitor. I borrowed it from the library in my very distant youth and I imagine that copy was sold a long time ago. For about 10p, probably.

...I admit she's beautiful, but can men not see beyond a pretty face? She's brought us nothing but trouble...

MCP and night,all!

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 29/04/2010 09:40

Argh, I'm sure I should know what yours is, Mooomin, but I can't think...

MCP everyone! Am totally clueless at the moment

Pogleswood · 29/04/2010 10:08

Me too,Treacle!

Is she married,Moomin?

MCP...

pollywollydoodle · 29/04/2010 10:20

moomin, is she your stepmother/stepdaughter?

MoominMymbleandMy · 29/04/2010 11:05

Morning, all!

...Married! My goodness, yes, she's been married three times, widowed twice and as for husband number three, I doubt she'll be seeing him again in this life...

OP posts:
MoominMymbleandMy · 29/04/2010 11:07

Oops, sorry, Polly.

...And I'm thankful to say she's no relation of mine...

OP posts:
pollywollydoodle · 29/04/2010 12:48

ooh, does she bump husbands off?

MoominMymbleandMy · 29/04/2010 14:25

...Well, her second husband was definitely murdered. She insists she had nothing to do with it but she's very deceitful...

MCP, CJ, and Snow, if you get the chance.

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 30/04/2010 11:32

Erm...not sure where I'm going with this but is she headed for the block, Moomin?

Poledra · 30/04/2010 12:11

Ohhhhhh, Elephants, I see who you mean (clever you!) but have no idea what the book is (unless we're into biography, and it's Antonia Fraser's rather good effort).

CJCregg · 30/04/2010 12:46

I also think you're extremely clever, Elephants.

Phillipa Gregory/Alison Weir?

I haven't seen my husband for so long, I'm beginning to forget what he looks like ...

MCP!

steamedtreaclesponge · 30/04/2010 13:07

Aaah, I see...

No ideas as to book here either...

MCP CJ!

AIBU to fancy my step-mother?

MoominMymbleandMy · 30/04/2010 13:12

Oh very well done, Elephants! Yes, indeed, she did go to the block but not before she'd wrecked my marriage and cost us a fortune. It was the fortune I really minded about.

Are we back in classical times, Treacle?

MCP, CJ!

AIBU to write a novel?

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 30/04/2010 14:09

Not exactly classical times, but definitely ye olden days...

Is your novel based on people in your village, Moomin?

MoominMymbleandMy · 30/04/2010 14:41

Crikey, Treacle, that was super fast! Have a free copy of "Disturber of the Peace" I hope you enjoy it. Writing it was certainly more fun and better paying than keeping hens or paying guests.

Oh, and CJ guessed right. The Mary, Queen of Scots one was Philippa Gregory's The Other Queen.

No ideas on the missing husbands or stepmother fanciers so MCP!

AIBU to be excited by this assignment?

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 30/04/2010 16:05

Hurrah! Well done me!

...I think it could work between us - after all, she hasn't exactly been faithful to my father...

MoominMymbleandMy · 30/04/2010 17:13

Yes indeedy, well done you, Treacle! That will teach me to do a Persephone AIBU. Lovely book, Miss Buncle's Book, though.

So, are we in Round Table territory then?

...I admit being asked if I've made my will before we set off is something of a dampener...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 30/04/2010 18:30

Totally baffled by all this!

MCP!

MoominMymbleandMy · 30/04/2010 19:53

...So are odds of only one chance in four that we'll return...

MCP!

OP posts:
llandb · 30/04/2010 21:18
Pogleswood · 01/05/2010 07:40

Moomin, are you either setting off into war-torn France,or leaving the planet entirely??

CJ,is it possble that you huband could return and be unrecognised, then?

MCP!

MoominMymbleandMy · 01/05/2010 14:19

...Actually, I'm leaving war-torn France...

MCP!

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 02/05/2010 23:02

Spot on, Moomin - you'd think that hussy Guenevere would be pleased to get rid of my father, wouldn't you?

MCP everyone!

AIBU to change places?

CJCregg · 03/05/2010 12:05

Are you playing netball, treacle?

MCP all!

I can barely remember what my husband looks like. And his poor son has never met him! I'm going to have to do something to get him back ...
