AIBU Books Game Part Six

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 19:16

Now, we're on thread number six!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to think I'm seeing a ghost?

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 17/02/2010 09:49

Of course it is....still wrong,I'm afraid!

Morning all,and Elephants, did your DSis's DH know you were there,in the bedroom?

AIBU to want my husband to better himself?

MCP,everyone!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 17/02/2010 10:07

Well she does rather have the gift of the gab, well done Moomin!

GUM - mistresses? Never!

NI on polly's and CJ's - are there any others still going? MCP

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 17/02/2010 10:11

Sorry Pogle x-post [durr slow typer emoticon] - he did indeed know I was in there but was far too busy listening to Scheherazade to care I think! How times have changed eh?

Do kids today know about the Arabian Nights?

Sounds like YANBU Pogle, were you thinking in a business or a personal sense?

Pogleswood · 17/02/2010 10:45

Wondered if Moomin had got it but I thought I'd keep thinking,as I didn't know Scheherazade had a sister!
And she gets precious silks, dancing boys and rubies??? [jealous]

Has Moomin got Snow's hamsters? (as it were..) or is that still running too?

...Well,I suppose business rather than personal - certainly it involves his career...

I must go - current behaviour glued to the computer doesn't quite back up stern instructions to DCs to switch OFF all the screens and find something constructive to do .

steamedtreaclesponge · 17/02/2010 10:48

Morning all!

AIBU to feel abandoned?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 17/02/2010 10:57

Sorry, I'm all out of dancing boys but could offer you a wonderful lamp. It's a bit dusty I'm afraid but might polish up nicely, what do you say?

Scheherazade's sister (called Dunyazade in my version, wonder how that would go down on babies names thread? also Dinazade i think) came along too so she could wake up early and ask to hear S tell a story one final time before S's execution. Crucial role!

No idea about the hamsters, Moomin's all-conquering brain may well have swept away their tiny fluffy beings too.

Does he have a natural apitude for his career?

Oh, and tell the kids this is constructive, it's certainly educational

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 17/02/2010 11:02

Morning Treacle. Sad that you are feeling abandoned. Are you being a bit of a drama queen, or have you -say - been left in the woods by your parents? If the latter, you ADDDDNBU!

CJCregg · 17/02/2010 11:15

Morning all.

Dinazade sounds like the Stone Age equivalent of a Fruit Shoot.

I am completely stumped. And, once again, in awe of Moomin's brilliance. And I'm afraid I've done it again - started an AIBU which I now can't remember. So humiliating and embarrassing

CJCregg · 17/02/2010 11:16

PS is it 'rack' or 'wrack' brains? I've never been sure.

Am actually going off to buy mousetraps, eek!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 17/02/2010 12:17

"Try new Dinazade - lasts 1001 times longer!"

Don't worry CJ, abandon racking and start again. (Always presumed rack, because isn't wrack usually seaweed?)

Pogleswood · 17/02/2010 12:58

,CJ! I was going to ask you about your fiance, but assumed you'd tell us more in your own good time!
Perhaps you should spend more time on MN?
"Wrack" and "rack" both looking wrong now...

I suppose the lamp might be useful in case of power cuts,Elephants! Dh might have objected to the dancing boys,anyway...

...my DH - well, his career has progressed reasonably well until now,but I'm not sure how motivated he is tro take the next step...

steamedtreaclesponge · 17/02/2010 13:03

MCP everyone!

CJ, have you tried borrowing someone's cat? A friend of mine did this and the mice haven't been back since...

...I've been with him for so long, I just can't believe we're not together any more. I feel heartbroken...

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/02/2010 14:21

Afternoon all!

Or you could get your own cat, CJ. For wrack/rack see here, which sounds pretty convincing.

After a brief bask in most undeserved flattery I am back to NIMCP!

AIBU to want to see my mother?

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 17/02/2010 15:57

A tragic story ,Treacle - have you been together as husband and wife? Boss/employee?Small boy and teddy bear?? MCP!

Moomin, wanting to see your mother sounds eminently reasonable...
(did you know about Snow's hamsters,by the way?)

...well,I'm sure I know what DH needs to do - I'll talk to him...

CJCregg · 17/02/2010 16:05

Pogle, are you anticipating a distinguished visitor? Better make the most of it, you might not get another chance. Give DH a push, I'm sure he'll go for it. Of course, you could always do it yourself, but maybe it would be better if you just cleared up afterwards?

CJCregg · 17/02/2010 16:09

Moomin, has your mother gone into town without consulting you?!

CJCregg · 17/02/2010 16:15

Polly, have done some feverish googling on yours and I'm still stuck. MCP, and never feel ignored!

Pogleswood · 17/02/2010 16:16

Well done ,CJ! What would you like for your star prize? we have a lovely bloodstained dagger(the blood is hard to wash off though...)Or maybe a nice second hand cauldron? (no jewels or dancing boys,I'm afraid..)

CJCregg · 17/02/2010 16:17

Treacle, did he do the dirty on you or has he died? And is/was he your DH?

CJCregg · 17/02/2010 16:20

Ooh, thanks Pogle! How exciting, my brain is actually working for once ... I'll have a bit of Birnam Wood, ta - my garden's looking a bit bare.

SnowWoman · 17/02/2010 16:21

You've all been busy here!

The hamsters, I am afraid, did not survive the summer.... neither did next door's bike 'cos she left it next to the bins and it got taken away - well and truly massacred in the crusher.

steamedtreaclesponge · 17/02/2010 16:30

NIMCP!

...I even stayed with him all through his illness - but now I've been unceremoniously turfed out! I don't know what's going to happen to me now - noone will want me now I've lost all my looks...

MoominMymbleandMy · 17/02/2010 16:53

Poor Treacle, as though a few germs wouldn't be killed by a hot wash. DD burst into tears over it and rewrote the ending!

Oh goody, Snow, it was the right set of hamsters!

That was fast, CJ. My mind was running more on Mr Pooter.

...I don't think I'm BU but the others say we should go to a South Sea Island or the Pyramids. But I want to go to London to see my mother...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 17/02/2010 17:14

Could somebody please explain the damn hamsters, and put me out of my misery?

Well, Moomin, I was completely on the wrong track with Treacle's!

Yours is sounding naggingly familiar but distant. MCP.

AIBU to turn off the laptop and go and be frivolous? That's in RL, by the way - I need some distraction from the mice!

Hopefully when I return I shall have remembered my stupid AIBU ...
