It always has
Knives, forks, spoons..... always

AI therefore BU to be irritated beyond belief that when DH unloads the sodding dishwasher that he cannot get it right? He always puts them in random places in our cutlery tray, but never knives, forks, spoons

I suspect he does it like this so that I stop asking him to do it, but we have been together for 15 years!

Knives, forks, spoons or AIBU?!!

Now we have (l-r)

sharp veg peeling knives/peelers
spoons
forks
knives

teaspoons in the front

and also things that just float around in the drawer, e.g.:

large chopping knives
scissors (for separating sausages, harvesting basil, etc.)
small whisk
small chocolate grater that's never been used, but too cute to throw away
thingys you use to stop up open bottles

PrincessFiorimonde · 25/01/2010 20:20

We also have a rather oil-bespattered jar by the cooker that holds fish slice, soup ladle, etc.

wordsonascreen · 25/01/2010 20:20

spoons
teaspoons
knives
forks

[ambidextrous]

PrincessFiorimonde · 25/01/2010 20:22

RatherBe - don't want to risk you having an apoplectic fit...

But you've a long way to go till you get the last word in here.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/01/2010 20:24

OmyG

we have a cuuuute chocolate grater too
I have never used it though

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/01/2010 20:26

PrincessFiorimonde

I bl**dy well will have the final word on this if it kills me!!
because as we all know it goes

knives
forks
spoons

{raspberry blowing emoticon]

OP posts:
PrincessFiorimonde · 25/01/2010 20:29

Not used my choc grater either. Nor ever likely to. But given to me by people I love. And it's v cute.

Cough out all the confessions, RatherBe. You'll feel better for it!

(The rest of us will stand back, mind.)

PrincessFiorimonde · 25/01/2010 20:37

RatherBe - I just meant: 383 messages as I write. Is a long way to get to 1,000!

Hope you do get to have the last word here; you deserve it!

Even if you do arrange your cutlery in a strange way...

RockbirdandHerSpork · 25/01/2010 21:00

Alas not my drawers; my cutlery is less colourful but similar in arrangement.

BerthaInTheAttic · 25/01/2010 22:06

RatherBe - keep frothing (ignore all attempts to calm down and actually count the spoons).

Have fun!

(trying to help you get to 1,000...)

Mandy1966 · 26/01/2010 09:55

My MIL actually agrees with me, (Makes a change, but wont say any thing else in case I get accused of mother in law bashing)
KNIVES
FORKS
SPOONS
.
.
.
He He He..

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/01/2010 14:04

I will get the final word on this, even if it only goes to 390!

Because as we all agree and consensus of opinion shoes very strongly.. it goes

knives
forks
spoons

no sporks
no nits
no worming tablets

Umami · 26/01/2010 15:01

Stick this in your drawer, Piste

juneybean · 26/01/2010 15:08

You can put it any way you like but as soon as I sit down I swap the knife and fork over so that the fork is in my right hand. Don't even think about it, I just do it.

juneybean · 26/01/2010 15:09

Although I just realised this is about the cutlery drawer.... maybe mine's a totally different thread lol

Umami · 26/01/2010 15:13

No, Juneybean, you make a valid point. Table is laid with forks on left, knives on right, and therefore it is only logical for drawer to go

forks
spoons (in the middle)
knives

PrincessFiorimonde · 26/01/2010 16:05

Umami (not following you about, btw), my cutlery drawer used to be like that, but DP kept changing it every time he cleaned the drawer.

As it is only he who ever cleans the thing, I have graciously decided to let him have his wicked way.

So now we have

spoons
forks
knives

and also domestic harmony.

Umami · 26/01/2010 16:27

Cleaning the cutlery drawer, eh?

forks
spoons
knives

(Don't worry, I am following you)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/01/2010 16:48
OP posts:
KnottyLocks · 26/01/2010 17:05

Now Piste, remember...it goes:

Knives
Forks
Spoons

PrincessFiorimonde · 26/01/2010 17:06

Umami, yes. He has a cleaning compulsion.

No good will come of it.

I, on the other hand, am a complete slattern who remembers to clean myself the bath only now and again.

Now, after me:

spoons
forks
knives

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/01/2010 17:13

um.... remind me, how does it go?

OP posts:
RockbirdandHerSpork · 26/01/2010 18:05

Spoonies > forkies > Knifies

Now Piste, run along dearie and have a bit of a lie down. It'll all become clear in the morning.

KnottyLocks · 26/01/2010 18:08

Sporks Fish forks Seafood picks jelly forks mustard spoon cake slice ladle
