It always has
Knives, forks, spoons..... always

AI therefore BU to be irritated beyond belief that when DH unloads the sodding dishwasher that he cannot get it right? He always puts them in random places in our cutlery tray, but never knives, forks, spoons

I suspect he does it like this so that I stop asking him to do it, but we have been together for 15 years!

Knives, forks, spoons or AIBU?!!

Umami

A pertinent point, teaspoons go in little section at the front, but others they go in together.

As you so rightly say - there is no other way

Too many people in this land have way too much miscellaneous cutlery that muddies this topic. Chuck it out I say and go back to basics. You know it makes sense.

Umami · 23/01/2010 16:44

Ah, excellent, Piste, I am pleased the teaspoons are separated for easy access.

TBperfectlyH, mine more commonly goes:

Teaspoons: in yogurt pot, in old tea mug, on teabag thingy, down side of sofa to disappear forever
Forks: In dishwasher, hidden under foil in bowl of last night's stew in fridge,
Knives: Balanced on butter dish, also in dishwasher, in sink, on table
Spoons: (the most troublesome) In flour jars, in bag of sugar in the cupboard, in breakfast bowls waiting to go into dishwasher......

It is not uncommon to find that our cutlery drawer goes:

One tablespoon

DH despairs of me, but he knew I was a slattern when he married me

BarkisIsWilling · 23/01/2010 17:41

Is there any other way?

Mandy1966 · 24/01/2010 10:13

Mandy1966

There is no other way.

Re the sporks - just chuck them away, they are an irrelevant miscellaneous extra

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/01/2010 20:27

Hahaha

got the final word on this.

We are all agreed then it goes

knives
forks
spoons

OP posts:
Umami · 25/01/2010 07:13

forks

knives

YouAintSinMeRight · 25/01/2010 07:34

Knives, forks, spoons....YANBU

My dh puts our very sharp knives mixed in with the ordinary knives...

msmiggins · 25/01/2010 07:49

Forks, knifes, chopsticks, secateurs, cat worming tables, hammers, seeds, sellotape, string, talcum power, toothbrushes. I know because I have just checked!

pigletmania · 25/01/2010 09:09

YABVU at least your dh makes an effort to unload the dishwasher, mine is allergic to any domestic chores.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/01/2010 13:46

worming tablets

shrieks and collapses to the floor

OP posts:
LittlePushka · 25/01/2010 13:58

tethersend · 25/01/2010 14:13

Not read the whole thread, but just want to say that I agree wholeheartedly with Rockbird.

Any other way is sheer lunacy.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/01/2010 15:46

There is only one way

knives
forks
spoons

and I think if we are honest with ourselves, we would all agree.

KnottyLocks · 25/01/2010 16:02

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/01/2010 16:05

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/01/2010 16:07

you could sit on this and look at it

OP posts:
Pam100127 · 25/01/2010 18:06

My husband does separate the cutlery, but no matter how often he empties it and sees how I have put the blades of sharp knives down...to save severing an artery if I need to reach in for something before I've had a chance to empty the machine & how I open the scissors and put the handles astride two compartments...he still leaves the sharp blades up and the scissors closed and blades down...so they don't wash properly.

RockbirdandHerSpork · 25/01/2010 18:36

I thank you

The only other way is this and that would be too distressing to contemplate.

PrincessFiorimonde · 25/01/2010 19:19

Knives
Forks
Spoons

but from right to left, of course

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/01/2010 19:51

RockbirdandHerSpork
are these your drawers?

PrincessFiorimonde
Your majesty, you are a loon on loon tablets

OP posts:
PrincessFiorimonde · 25/01/2010 19:57

We did once have, courtesy of DP (from l-r)

forks
spoons
knives

But this was clearly crazy.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/01/2010 20:00

Your majesty both are crazy - there is only one way

KNIVES FORKS SPOONS

left to right

I am glad you all agree
