AIBU Books Game Part 5

1000 replies

MoominMymbleandMy · 04/10/2009 20:46

Now we've made it to a fifth thread!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to set all my sights on getting a rich husband?

OP posts:
dangheckskuLLANDBone · 14/10/2009 12:41

Think so, Moomin, but just off to check about the white bit (do you refer to Juliet?) ...

dangheckskuLLANDBone · 14/10/2009 12:50
Poledra · 14/10/2009 12:52

Matilda - of course!!

Treacle, is the ward a little French brat perchance? And are you a white woman too, as it were?

CJCregg · 14/10/2009 12:53

Treacle, are you Blanche Ingram?!

Thing is, about this trifle ... I know it WBU to taste it, it's for later, but it's really, really hard to resist, 'cos it just looks so delicious. My friend just said 'go on' and we know we shouldn't, but ...

CJCregg · 14/10/2009 12:54

Oops, sorry Pol - cross-posted! Great minds though, eh?!

dangheckskuLLANDBone · 14/10/2009 13:19

Hum, selection of book on basis of its presence in tottering pile isn't helping much.

Julia ought to be wearing white, and she ought to be floating about. For her desolate Julian is in the Twopenny Leanover! You wouldn't catch Mr Disraeli there....

MCP!

Pogleswood · 14/10/2009 13:29

CJ,are you either a naughty little sister,or alternatively, the boy I was in love with at age 5,Bad Harry?
Otherwise stuck! MCP!

AIBU to think they are all a bit odd?

dangheckskuLLANDBone · 14/10/2009 14:09

.. Ah, she does wear white, for they are marrying her off to the polygamous moustachioed villian! But our French governess grows a conscience and saves the ingenue, for she is tired of concealing her own secret...

Pogle, what is (possibly) odd about them?

And CJ, did you eat the trifle?

MCP!

pollywobbledoodle · 14/10/2009 14:11

full of cold, can't think!
like the idea that googling my alberts brings up some murky stuff

when i'm in the bath i visit the island of 1000 alberts (where alberts hang upside down like bats in trees and howl), the long long coast of the lost socks and the land of the blotchy big (and dotty small) rietta...

CJCregg · 14/10/2009 14:12

llandb, NBI (no bleedin' idea!) - sounds fun, though.

Well done, Pogle! Bad Harry is such a terrible influence, but I kind of love him too. And yes, indeed - we ate all the trifle, every last bit

MCP ...

pollywobbledoodle · 14/10/2009 14:16

cj did you get the cook in trouble when it couldn't be found for the party?

treaclespongeofdeath · 14/10/2009 14:45

Well done, Pol & CJ! That pesky Jane Eyre, eh, ruining my chances...

NIMCP!

dangheckskuLLANDBone · 14/10/2009 15:00

...But while all that is going on, I have my fingers in the pot and want to end public hangings. And they keep saying, 'Don't!' And they keep calling me Mr *! Awfully disrespectful, seeing as how I'm the future Earl of Beaconsfield....

Polly, those sound fine clues but I'm afraid my googling isn't sufficiently creative. It sounds awfully Spikey though!

MCP?

dangheckskuLLANDBone · 14/10/2009 18:09

Just watched that Hector's House linkie. See, clearly I had an isolated upbringing and if I didn't come here, I'd have remained blissfully ignorant!

Yes, a repeat auntie, though not the most frequent niece-crusher contacter. And 40% of my aunts are benign and go unmentioned

Brain too fried to cheat conduct online research!

Pogleswood · 14/10/2009 19:06

Polly,I googled yours too,I really wouldn't recommend it...

My odd types - well,I realise some people take their interests very seriously, but they do seem a bit obsessed - some more than others...

MoominOnABroomstick · 14/10/2009 20:20

Whew! I've missed a lot, but some happy cheating by Google leads me to think you're a bit of a go-getter, Polly!

Llandb, words fail me when it comes to yours because I am confused beyond belief. But I hope you liked Hector, Zaza and Kiki.

Pogle, more clues please.

...What I didn't realise then was that the gardener was sickening for polio and the gardener's boy had been sacked. No wonder no one was feeding the pets but me...

pollywobbledoodle · 14/10/2009 22:57

and i wear long green socks with toes...

pollywobbledoodle · 14/10/2009 22:59

and my most favourite thing in the world (despite your mucky googlin') is chocolate ripple cake and now we've got an albert i don't get so much of it...

MoominOnABroomstick · 15/10/2009 00:59

Ah, so you are Henrietta, Polly! And I wish you hadn't mentioned chocolate ripple cake.

...I didn't realise either that the gardener's boy had been sacked after he made an assignation with the prettiest girl in the school and then tried to ravish her...

Poledra · 15/10/2009 09:50

Moomin, I don't know what yours is, but it's sounding rather racy - might have to read it when I find out what it is!

treaclespongeofdeath · 15/10/2009 09:53

Morning, all!

Nope, still NIMCP!

And AIBU to worry about my aunt?

pollywobbledoodle · 15/10/2009 11:28

moomin sheezamajeeza you've got me!.....dd's fave book atm....i feel like i know yours and it is just out of reach

treacle....yabu...aunts are hardy creatures, they come to this thread to revive themselves

pollywobbledoodle · 15/10/2009 11:32

pogle are they collectors?
llandb NTF (not the foggiest)

treaclespongeofdeath · 15/10/2009 11:49

...You're probably right, Polly - she looks such a fragile thing though...

NTFMCP!

Pogleswood · 15/10/2009 12:08

I agree with Polly,Treacle - default for Aunts(even fragile looking ones)is tough as old boots...
I feel I ought to know Moomin's, but can't put my finger on it,is there a new acronym for this? BISIKT perhaps? (Bother,I'm sure I know this!)

...My people are fans rather than collectors - though some of them are collectors as well - it amazed me to find out how much people will pay for an old typescript..
