AIBU Books Game Part 5

1000 replies

MoominMymbleandMy · 04/10/2009 20:46

Now we've made it to a fifth thread!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to set all my sights on getting a rich husband?

Happy Boxing Day all! Hope you had a lovely Christmas.

Way way back, yes I was the psammead (God, I can't even remember how to spell it).

Completely out of ideas, just checking in to say hello!

Pogleswood · 27/12/2009 19:50

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!
Also out of ideas,back later!

deckhaLLANDBurnyule · 29/12/2009 11:16

Hi all! Hope everyone well and happy
Out of ideas and neurons
Situation normal then

steamedxmaspudding · 29/12/2009 19:29

Hello everyone! Hope you all had nice Christmasses. Are there even any AIBUs running at the moment?

pollywobblebauble · 29/12/2009 21:41

Hope you all had a lovely xmas. In the midst of a run of birthday celebrations atm so not a lot of spare brain but have read the following over xmas.

AIBU to believe that i am unusually fleet of foot?

deckhaLLANDBurnyule · 30/12/2009 17:56

Hello! Polly, are you a bunny?

pollywobblebauble · 30/12/2009 21:04

hi llandb,...no, not a bunny, not an animal...i am alive tho'...animals keep chasing me...

Pogleswood · 31/12/2009 10:22

Morning all!

polly, were you baked, rather than born in the normal way? If so ,YABU - pride comes before a fall,-you are fast but there's more to life than being fast, being cunning is quite useful too!

pollywobblebauble · 31/12/2009 20:38

You got me, pogle!
Quick celebratory twirl in your thermals?

Pogleswood · 01/01/2010 00:30

Twirl? Moi? Don't I get to do chandelier swinging then? No,better not I suppose.......

pollywollydoodle · 01/01/2010 05:32

sorry pogle, i thought i'd ruined all the chandeliers...feel free to swing if you can find one...

MuLLANDBoilTheAJ · 01/01/2010 15:02

HNY everyone!

This is really to test out my new nickname (and say happy new year).

The last part of the nickname refers to my culinary inattentiveness and the AJ is wot the drivers gets [hsmile]

But, speaking of culinary inattentiveness - WIBU to wonder why my gravy is best when I have guests?

MuLLANDBoilTheAJ · 01/01/2010 15:03

Oopsie, I meant fsmile not hsmile! Like so:

pollywollydoodle · 01/01/2010 23:44

you'll always be llandb to me [heart]

do you use your guests to make the gravy?

Pogleswood · 02/01/2010 10:08

I'm sure I posted here yesterday!Must've been distracted before I hit post - or else I've posted strange comments about gravy on a completely different thread

Like the new name, llandb.I don't know about your gravy, but I thought it sounded vaguely sinister, along the lines of polly's question - MCP!

CJsWhiteHouseXmasParty · 02/01/2010 18:09

Hi all!

AIBU to wish someone would tidy up?

pollywollydoodle · 02/01/2010 20:36

pogle, i'm sure i saw your gravy on an in laws thread....perhaps we should mount a where's wally-style search for it...

cj, you are SO NBU

Pogleswood · 03/01/2010 17:40

Aargh!

I don't think you are BU either,CJ but as to who you are and why you want the tidying up done...

MCP,both!

MuLLANDBoilTheAJ · 03/01/2010 20:52

Aw, shucks, it's only my NY name change - it'll be back to llandb when we've got through the mistreated apple juice

CJ, certainly not BU!

But it would be unreasonable of me to second Pogle as to 'why?', since I have been tidying IRL . Goes against every principle, but needs must, as the piles of junk were close to developing sentience and turfing us out into the frost.

On the bright, we can see long-lost tottering piles of books for the first time in yonks. Or rather, the dust and cobwebs they're under

Erm, that was a long-winded way of saying MCP!

As for the gravy. Well, I don't think the guests are lending a hand. When we have company, I'm always leaving the kitchen to go out and chatter to our guests. So I'd notice if one of them slipped away - back to the abandoned kitchen, for example.

MuLLANDBoilTheAJ · 03/01/2010 21:02

And as for using my guests as ingredient - tsk! I'm a respectable married woman, I'll have you know. Why, even my hand goes nowhere near it. Stands to reason. Why would anyone bother to stir gravy?

steamedxmaspudding · 03/01/2010 22:08

Hello everyone!

MCP...

Llandb, are you obsessed with Colour Me Beautiful?

AIBU to tell a lie?

MuLLANDBoilTheAJ · 04/01/2010 14:46

Treacle! It's your previous character's fault that I developed a childish obsession to discover this 'turkish delight' that you spoke of.

As for this one. Depends. Are you doing it to wrong-foot some baddies? If so, then probably YANBU. But if you're doing it just to get access to turkish deligght, well, then,

CJ, is there anything unusual about what needs tidying? Surely not tottering dusty piles of books; that's how they're supposed to be!

Nope, not obsessesd with CMB. Well, probably not. I don't get much more of a mention. Maybe there's a CMB opportunity in my backstory .

Pretty much all that's known about me is that my family is one in a string of families who've lived in this house, and I'm remarked for not stirring gravy.

You know, it's almost as though someone is watching me cook and tut-tutting at my slatternly ways. And stirring the pot when there's no chance I'll see her. But I don't believe in ghosts....

NIMCP!

CJCregg · 04/01/2010 18:50

There's nothing special about the tidying - it's just that the house is a mess and it's making me extremely grumpy.

Pogleswood · 04/01/2010 19:08

So this is obviously a realistic portrayal of modern life,CJ? MCP!

CJCregg · 04/01/2010 20:02

None of the people I share with ever do any housework. Mind you, I'm just as bad. All the dust is starting to set off allergies ...
