AIBU Books Game Part 5

1000 replies

MoominMymbleandMy · 04/10/2009 20:46

Now we've made it to a fifth thread!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to set all my sights on getting a rich husband?

OP posts:
pollywobblebauble · 16/12/2009 21:00

ps treacle, is yours gathering winter fuel?

steamedxmaspudding · 17/12/2009 08:24

...No, not Wenceslas! Although I do worry about him going around in all this cold weather with only his dog for company...

Pogleswood · 17/12/2009 23:24

Well,Treacle, I thought I knew who you were till the dog - and now I think I know who you might be,but I'm not sure as this is an unfavorite! Is a magic box involved at all?

AIBU to really want one particular present?

steamedxmaspudding · 18/12/2009 08:46

Ah, Pogle, you're too quick for me... it's a very delightful box indeed!

Not sure if you ABU - how big is this present?

pollywobblebauble · 18/12/2009 14:18

treacle, it depends if there is only one of them in the whole wide world...

pollywobblebauble · 18/12/2009 14:18

i meant pogle...oops

Pogleswood · 18/12/2009 16:35

It isn't particularly big ,and there must be many of them in the world. The thing is ,I don't get many presents,or cards..

deckhaLLANDBurnyule · 20/12/2009 01:02

Hello, AIBU Bookers! I hope you've been unreasonable

Poor Moomin - how noble not to desert AIBU Books!

Have been rather neglectful of y'all myself, mostly to do with general ineptness at staying in touch with online life.

Perhaps for that reason (neglecting to read thread), or perhaps due to seeing nothing but whirling snowflakes in front of me, I'm as stumped as a chopped-down pine tree! MCP (and hope to return to stalk your clues ).

Pogleswood · 20/12/2009 22:53

Hi llandb! Yep,ongoing unreasonableness is the order of the day still... so,brush the snow out of your eyes and read the thread!

..So I've left a note for Father Christmas,by the chimney stack - maybe I will get a present this year...

steamedxmaspudding · 21/12/2009 12:23

Hmm... MCP Pogle!

AIBU to not want them to eat plum pudding?

CJsWhiteHouseXmasParty · 22/12/2009 11:23

Treacle - not in the slightest, I loathe plum pudding ...

Sorry, all - no ideas at all. But need to keep the thread going. Moomin, hope all's ok. We are almost completely snowed in, as we live in a tiny village on top of a hill and can't get down to civilisation!

I do wish these children hadn't woken me up, I was having such a nice sleep. (Not a seasonal one, by the way.)

steamedxmaspudding · 22/12/2009 12:39

Hmm... are you King Arthur, CJ? Or a dragon? Am very jealous of you being snowed in - have been praying that it will happen here but as I live in central London I fear it's rather unlikely. Hope everyone else is coping OK in this weather!

...and then they dared talk back to me! Well, I showed them...

pollywobblebauble · 22/12/2009 13:58

cj, are you Rip Van Winkle?

CJsWhiteHouseXmasParty · 22/12/2009 15:03

no, not RVW, or a dragon, or King Arthur. I'm exhausted now - they keep asking me for wishes ...

steamedxmaspudding · 23/12/2009 09:21

Do you live in a gravel pit, CJ?

...just fancy - people daring to celebrate Christmas! Disgusting...

deckhaLLANDBurnyule · 23/12/2009 12:42

Treacle! Are you plotting burglary?

AIBU to wonder whether Father Christamas loves me?

MCP!

deckhaLLANDBurnyule · 23/12/2009 12:45

(I blame the snow for any typos - just so's you don't think it's the sherry )

pollywobblebauble · 23/12/2009 13:43

llandb...no you're not, i am too, am also wondering if he'll love me more if i'm naughty or if i'm nice (am flexible)

treacle you're not scrooge are you?

am off to the outlaws in a bit, so a merry christmas to all of you.

steamedxmaspudding · 23/12/2009 14:37

Happy Christmas Polly!

I'm still at work. Boooooo.

MCP llandb!

...No, I'm not a burglar - why would I need to burgle? I have my own castle, dontcha know...

deckhaLLANDBurnyule · 23/12/2009 20:52

Have fun, Polly! I hope the Outlaws are Wanted (but don't feel you have to answer that

Treacle, I hope someone has been reasonable and brought in some steamedxmaspudding!

... I don't suppose it's likely that Father Christmas loves me, as nobody else seems to. They often won't speak to me. And I have to write my own Christmas cards!

MCP!

Pogleswood · 23/12/2009 21:45

Merry Xmas,polly!

llandb,it is possible that you are me,or alternatively that I am you - are you a royal personage by any chance? (if not we obviously are both sad types with no friends - perhaps you could give me the one present I really want, and I'll send you a christmas card?? )

...I would like crackers, and candy, and chocolates ,and oranges, and nuts and a pocket-knife - but there is one present that I want more than all of these....

MCP!

deckhaLLANDBurnyule · 23/12/2009 22:01

Blimey, Pogle, what a ninny I am for not spotting it. My brain is frozen (handy excuse; just normal state of thingss)

Yes, we are the same person! So we'll just have to rely on Father Christmas to lob that pressie over the wall, and continue to write our own cards

steamedxmaspudding · 24/12/2009 08:14

Ooh, who are you both? I'm sure I know but I just can't think!

...And now it looks like all the snow is starting to melt! This is disastrous - surely my old enemy can't be back in town...

Pogleswood · 24/12/2009 09:08

Morning all!

We are King John,Treacle
from King John's Christmas,AA Milne.

I was just about to say yours has got me completely baffled, but am wondering now if you are responsible for it being always winter, but never Christmas? In which case, yes, he is back and serve you right!

Shouldn't be here -Christmas Eve- loads to do -

steamedxmaspudding · 24/12/2009 09:25

Ah of course! I love that poem.

And yes, I am the white witch... Bah humbug to Christmas is what I say!
