AIBU Books Game Part 5

1000 replies

MoominMymbleandMy · 04/10/2009 20:46

Now we've made it to a fifth thread!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to set all my sights on getting a rich husband?

OP posts:
squaLLANDBonfire · 07/11/2009 22:15

... After that, I sought another position. It didn't feel right to stay. Though nobody really blamed me for keeping Mary's secret about the baby and the doctor - I'd just been a good girl who'd done as she was told....

'Night, all, and MCP!

Pogleswood · 07/11/2009 23:54

Thanks,Moomin!

Ah,Spike Milligna,the well known typing error,I should've known.

I wouldn't whistle if I were you,something might come...

MCP,llandb! (does sound interesting)

Goodnight all.

squaLLANDBonfire · 08/11/2009 14:34

Eek! What might come to a whistle?

...she had very democratic ideas, my friend Mary. Why, I might not be a servant forever, but one day I would marry, and have my own little cottage, and perhaps even have a servant girl to help. They have such a different view of things here in Canada...

MoominPlotsTreason · 08/11/2009 15:05

Whew, that was super fast Pogle! Yes, I did whistle and someone or something came... I so wish I hadn't.

Your one isn't ringing any bells, Llandb so MCP.

AIBU to steal a ring?

Pogleswood · 08/11/2009 15:44

yes, well I've shot my bolt again now - unless your ring rules over lots of lesser rings...

AIBU to wonder how my aunt put up with her for so long?

MCP!

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/11/2009 17:28

Eeek, an auntie!

MCP, Pogle!

...I don't know anything about lesser rings. Is that from a book? I don't like books...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 08/11/2009 17:55

Totally lost ...

What was Moomin's 5th November one? And the whistle one?!

You see, I really am lost ...

WIBU to buy a pony for my daughter?

squaLLANDBonfire · 08/11/2009 18:35

NIMCP, everyone!

... When they caught up with us after the murders, I was travelling under the Alias of Mary's name. My claim that I could not recall the day's events confirmed my guilt. I've been in prison and the asylum for ever so long. And then my old friend, masquerading as a clairvoyant, placed me in a trance and Mary's voice claimed responsibility...

gunpowdertreacleandplot · 08/11/2009 18:44

Evening all!

No ideas at all... MCP!

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/11/2009 18:54

Blimey, Llandb! I'm sure I would have remembered that if I'd read it.

CJ, the fifth of November one was The House of Arden by E Nesbit again, and the whistle one was Oh, Whistle and I'll Come To You, My Lad, another very spooky story by MR James.

As for the pony, depends, YABU if you've nowhere to keep it, or can't afford it, or she isn't going to look after it.

MCP everyone!

...It's my sister's engagement ring...

OP posts:
Pogleswood · 08/11/2009 20:03

Oh heavens,Moomin - you aren't going to drop it down a crack in someone elses garden, are you?

CJ,possibly YAalsoBU if you think she's likely to become obsessive about the whole pony thing and possibly want more - though it is a nice healthy outdoor hobby,I suppose...

..really I think my aunt must have had the patience of a saint , her friend is annoying me a great deal - though all the men seem to love her...

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/11/2009 20:43

I did, clever Pogle! My brother's friend dug it up for me but he made me give it back. Humph!

Still NIMCP on everyone's here.

AIBU to think my niece and nephew are acting rather oddly?

OP posts:
squaLLANDBonfire · 08/11/2009 21:39

Moomin, have you been making clever rings? Or are you an aunt, rather than an uncle?

...and so, by good Grace, the Alias that condemned me has also set me free...

'Night All, from too-many-tabs-open-and-everything-is-sloooow-land!

squaLLANDBonfire · 08/11/2009 21:44

I suppose we're not being spooky any more, are we? (And have doubts about wisdom of a Movember theme)

pollywobbledoodle · 08/11/2009 21:54

evening all
so llandb are you grace from alias grace?

squaLLANDBonfire · 08/11/2009 21:57

Yay polly, chandeliers for you (and it's all your fault that I keep going upstairs backwards, doing a grooovy dance )

pollywobbledoodle · 08/11/2009 22:05

ok lets go all 80's

AIBU to kill my boss to get hold of his red bag?

Pogleswood · 08/11/2009 22:35

Mad,quite mad - it's all that chandelier swinging,I reckon

Polly,MCP - and it must BU to kill someone for a bag, surely?!

CJCregg · 08/11/2009 22:55

What's IN his red bag? Is he a postman?

I've bought my daughter the pony. She's learning to ride and picking it up really quickly. Some people, including my wife, are saying that I'm spoiling her but there's nothing I wouldn't do for my little girl.

MoominMymbleandMy · 08/11/2009 23:23

Aargh! Stumped!

Sounds a bit James Bond-ish to me, Polly. DD liked your blast of 80's pop music, btw.

CJ, might it be that people in your station in life don't generally keep ponies?

NIMCP!

...They're very nice children and I was looking forward to taking them on a trip to Copenhagen...

OP posts:
squaLLANDBonfire · 08/11/2009 23:48

(Still here)

Oh dear CJ, are you going to encourage her to take a jump that is just a bit too ambitious?

pollywobbledoodle · 09/11/2009 00:02

....well, theres a load of cash in it that think i could make good use of...

cj are you rupert campbell black?

otherwise loads of nincompoops...

squaLLANDBonfire · 09/11/2009 11:47

Morning, All!

AIBU to want a hearty meal? (Not being Badjelly this time!)

CJCregg · 09/11/2009 11:52

Morning all.

No, I'm not RC-B but yes, I don't see a problem with her jumping a few fences, as she's so keen ...

squaLLANDBonfire · 09/11/2009 12:12

Or even just R-B?
