To find it a bit odd when people go through several prams in the space of a few months?

I sometimes read posts on here from 'pram addicts' who despite having only one or two childrem have had several different prams and pushchairs.

I just read a pushchair review on another site that said: 'So far since my 9 month old son's birth I've had a Micralite fastfold, 2 quinny zapps, a fisher price safe voyager, a loola and this quest sport.'

Does that sound like overkill to anyone else?

Sorry if I offend anyone and I'm sure I'll be told if that's the case but I just don't get why you would need to keep changing prams?

Woah SLHM, so its more like a business than a hobby then? Maybe i'm in the wrong job

MrsMagooo · 04/12/2008 15:46

I'm exactly the same - buy, do up add accessories then sell on for a nice juicy profit

ScottishMummy · 04/12/2008 15:50

so you have the disposable income to begin with?or does one purchase lead to the other

dont you get annoyed constantly receiving/sending by courier, packing etc

but if it is that lucrative well....

ShauntheSheep · 04/12/2008 16:04

PMSL This thread is excellent and some of the posts are so funny (if slightly difficult read).

we had 2 pushchairs for dd but thet was cos we broke the first pushing it across muddy fields. 2nd was a P&T which out next door neighbours are now using and which run grand despite all the abuse it got.

MrsMagooo · 04/12/2008 16:20

Nope - just sell one to fund another. Or sell bits on Ebay to help raise funds.

Nope doesn't get annoying as I always keep the boxes so just pop them back into the box & I always use the same courier & he always collects by 10am!

blueshoes · 04/12/2008 18:19

Santaslittlehelper, you seem to know a fair bit about doing up buggies. If my P&T is torn (1) where the grey fabric of the footrest joins the side and (2) around the seam of the lie flat bit, is it fixable?

MrsMagooo · 04/12/2008 19:10

Blueshoes you could have a go at fixing it if you unscrew it all from the frame. Failing that if you look here you can buy all sorts of spares including footwell/basket.

Or you can call Out n About which are the UK distributers of P&T on 01234 344230

blueshoes · 04/12/2008 21:12

Fantastic, MrsMagoo. That link looks like it has all I need.

My P&T E3 (red) is very well loved. Assuming the frame is fine, when it comes to sell, should I get a whole new set of covers before selling on eBay or should I just sell as is scuffed and torn? Or is it not even worth selling? I have all the other accessories in good nick.

Do you sell self-collection or do you courier?

babyjjbaby · 04/12/2008 21:17

blue shoes how much u want for ur phil teds

blueshoes · 04/12/2008 21:23

I guess I would be happy with £30-50 profit.

I still need the P&T for my 2 dcs but happy to use it in battered condition. I was just wondering when the time comes to get rid (maybe in 1-2 years), what is the best way to sell it on eBay. Of course, by then, the E3 model will be much older.

babyjjbaby · 04/12/2008 21:26

oh right i thought u would be selling now

blueshoes · 04/12/2008 21:31

no worries

MrsMagooo · 05/12/2008 10:00

Blueshoes by the time you come to sell it personally I would sell as is

Santaslittlehelpersmum · 05/12/2008 10:24

Blueshoes I would start looking out on ebay now for covers even though you dont want them for a while sometimes bargain sets come up I bought a whole red set footwell mainseat double seat and hood for £55 they werent brand new but were in excellent condition also if you look for a black touch up pen on ebay get one of them as well! A battered P&T with a torn basket would get about £100-£130 one with good/ex covers on and all the silver marks touched up will get you about £250 people love accessories included so you can then get more here is the last one I sold with only the raincover for £260 and here is me buying it paid £105 for it! I got it a new basket a new main seat and a new handle bar and touched up the frame. I then washed the hood and double seat on hand wash in the washing machine

Santaslittlehelpersmum · 05/12/2008 10:27

Also you can make the white of the whites white again with blech and water

blueshoes · 05/12/2008 10:31

You guys are stars! Is it possible to wash a slightly manky raincover in the washing machine. Not too terrible but you know how water drops leave their mark on the cover.

Santaslittlehelpersmum · 05/12/2008 10:34

No don't put the rain cover in the washing machine. Put it in the bath with hot soapy water (fairy liquid is best) wipe it over with a cloth that will bring it up lovely

blueshoes · 05/12/2008 10:36

MrsM, thanks for the link to your listing - that is really handy. I am a buggy ebay seller virgin.

Can I ask which courier you use and how do you pack the buggy?

Also, due to the threads on the tyre becoming worn, I changed the back tires for non P&T ones - the only difference is that they don't have the white strip and are all black. Is that a bad thing?

nicolamumof3 · 05/12/2008 10:38

I always use www.directparceldelivery.com i now try and keep my boxes for the pushchairs, but you can usually get boxes from supermarkets i've found!

I wouldn't think the tyres would matter tbh?

MrsMagooo · 05/12/2008 10:55

I agree - do NOT put it in the machine!!

It's so easy to pick up spare parts - just keep your eyes on Ebay

blueshoes · 05/12/2008 11:02

Sorry, I meant to say Santaslittlehelper for the link. Thanks all for the tips. Apologies to OP for hijack!

Santaslittlehelpersmum · 05/12/2008 11:03

I always use www.p4d.co.uk (make sure you get the right insurance just incase) i pay about £13 with £250 insurnace for next day delivery DHL! I am lucky my Dh brings home massive cardboard bits from whork and heavy duty tape so thats how I wrap mine!
