To find it a bit odd when people go through several prams in the space of a few months?

I sometimes read posts on here from 'pram addicts' who despite having only one or two childrem have had several different prams and pushchairs.

I just read a pushchair review on another site that said: 'So far since my 9 month old son's birth I've had a Micralite fastfold, 2 quinny zapps, a fisher price safe voyager, a loola and this quest sport.'

Does that sound like overkill to anyone else?

Sorry if I offend anyone and I'm sure I'll be told if that's the case but I just don't get why you would need to keep changing prams?

'pram hun'
What a fabulous phrase.

VoluptuaGoodshag · 03/12/2008 12:17

There should be some sort of try before you buy place so you can hire different ones to see what suits you best. I stuck with the pram/buggy I had through both kids but often saw other models that would have suited me better but there was no way I would have forked out the dosh for another one

MrsMagooo · 03/12/2008 12:28

There is Voluptua

Most of us pramaholics make bloody good money from selling them on so I won't be stopping any time soon as it gives me extra pennies!

Santaslittlehelpersmum · 03/12/2008 14:11

Well today I have made £140 profit on selling on one of my prams does that sound like a metal person I am fortunate my DH earns quite a lot of money and we dont have any debts (expect when I spend on the C/Card on DS'S) I dont drink and I dont spoke I went to Uni and am a Financial Controller when not on Maternity leave I am not a Hun and the way some people are using this term I find quite rude! what is it in your lives that you have a problem with are you so down trodden you need to have a go at others I suggest you get out more (with your crappy prams)

SparklyGothKat · 03/12/2008 14:57

I made £130 profit last week on pushchairs.. some I buy purely for resell. Clean them up, service them and then sell on.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/12/2008 14:58

A metal person?????

Santaslittlehelpersmum · 03/12/2008 15:13

Ok writing at spead whilst trying to feed small child! mental and smoke not spoke which I am sure you knew but had to comment on....... see what I mean you do need to get out more!

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/12/2008 16:52

No, I didn't know what you meant. You're very rude, aren't you?

Pawslikepaddington · 03/12/2008 16:56

I had loads of prams, but never once sold one for less than what I bought it for-if it makes you happy why does it matter? I knew I was just having the 1 dc, so thought I had better have them all while I could.

elmoandella · 03/12/2008 16:59

everyone who likes using the term hun in any manner can go join net mums or similar.

that term is very vulgar, especially where i'm from.

alot of you obviously dont know its meaning and would not be using the word if you knew where it actual refers to.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 03/12/2008 17:05

How's this for pram hunning.

Someone left a mamas and papas 3 in 1 by the bins near our house. I brought it in , gave it a quick clean and offered it on freecycle. I got loads of response.

A day after the person came to pick it up I got an angry email saying it was scratched on the chassis, she'd hate to put her baby in it, and it had gone in the bin.

Fat waste of time for me, I wish someone who would have needed it had taken it.

I then looked and the same woman is constantly asking for various models of pram on freecycle.

elmoandella · 03/12/2008 17:09

ffs - devil?? what is a hun?? do you even know?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 03/12/2008 17:11

I do know what 'hun' means thanks.

I also know it's a commonly used term on twinkly twatty mums sites.

frogmellasumbrella · 03/12/2008 17:19

Pram envy! PMSL!!!!

elmoandella · 03/12/2008 17:20

you obviously dont as prams have got nothing whatsoever to do with religion. and a hun is an offensive term used by catholics towards protestant.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 03/12/2008 17:38

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huns

mm22bys · 03/12/2008 17:48

DS1 had 1.5 in about 3 years, DS2 has had 3.5 in less than 2.

Prams like anything else are sometimes unsuitable, and they can break.

Doesn't necessarily make it "odd".

joyfuleyes · 03/12/2008 17:51

ummmm 'hun' as in 'hunny' ('honey') what some people call each other on other websites as in

'awww have some hugz hun oxoxoxox'

This thread is very amusing

elmoandella · 03/12/2008 18:02

several people have already said on this thread that have taken offensive to the term and the way it has been used. for example. "pram hunning" is not taken from the term pram honey.

i am asking people to think about what terms they use.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/12/2008 18:14

Of course it is Elmo! Indirectly, via the online use of 'hun' which comes from 'honey' and consequently has come to stand for the kind of woman who uses the term 'hun'. 'Hunning' is the present participle form of the verb that is derived from it - to hun, meaning to act like a hun.

Santaslittlehelpersmum · 03/12/2008 18:22

by using the term Hun you are trying to belittle people which is not only very rude it is also not very nice! I am not going to waste my breath on this thread anymore some people are just horrible Elm let them get on with it! and I have three pairs of Crocs Kathy and a pair of uggs suppose you will have something to say about that to!!!!

pinner4 · 03/12/2008 18:27

I think is true what someone says about not having an idea when you are pregnant.
It doesn't matter how much you try them, and compare, that until you actually use it for a while, you don't really know what you like or fit you the most.
But I think that if you just bought one, and keep it for the hole time, you are very lucky with the choice, I have 3, and mainly for traveling, a mistake, and the first choice, Quinny Buzz, great, but puncture tyre, so .........
If you use public transport, you'll need a tiny one, or won't fit; and in general, I have found that the wheels tend to wear of rather quick.
Good luck everybody with your choices!!!

WifeandMotherof4 · 03/12/2008 18:28

I have just bought a Bugaboo for my 4th dc. This is because it's the only one that's light enough to push ne handed should my 2 year old decide that she wants to walk (nearly all of the time) and not ride on the very secure step thingy.
I don;t understand people who buy three or four per child. But I have had a pram for dc1, double Maclaren for DC1+2, Geisslien for DC3 and a Mia star (or whatever) buggy for DC3 but she's too big for it at 2y2m.

YouNeverKnowIMightFlounce · 03/12/2008 19:12

i find some of your views on here fu**ing offensive

babyjjbaby · 03/12/2008 19:12

i don't see why it matters to other people how many prams someone has i have 5 buggys at the moment but couldn't give a toss what other people think cos it has nothing to do with them the only person it has to do with and affects is me
