Conversation about drunk shopping and I mentioned that I once ordered racing sprouts and a sudoku rubiks cube just before Xmas about 18 years ago!

DD is adamant that no one does stuff like that. I need you to help me prove her wrong!

A sewing machine, while having a lot of wine while watching Sewing Bee. Never once used it.

We booked a group holiday to Thailand at 3am pre kids, it was the best most expensive drunk decision 🤣

Globules · 09/10/2026 19:50

Boyfriend has done so many drunk purchases.

My favourite is a contribution to a crowdfunder, resulting in him getting some slightly small t shirts that are really out there.

Dearg · 09/10/2026 19:51

A car 😳 lockdown, bored, too much wine. They delivered.

cartagenagina · 09/10/2026 19:51

Holidays usually.

A £350 pair of Carels imported from Paris for DD once. 🤷‍♀️

ComtesseDeSpair · 09/10/2026 19:52

A bulk buy pack from Grants Foods of six tins of haggis and six tins of black pudding. I like both, occasionally, but not six tins of each much, so there have been five tins of each in the cupboard for about a year.

A friend has bought a dingy off eBay when drunk and no way of collecting it. Fortunately a good friend had a big van and trailer. Another bought what they thought was a really good deal on a leather jacket …. Only to discover it was for a child’s doll and they were very much a 6 foot tall rugby player…. Never going to fit.

PyongyangKipperbang · 09/10/2026 19:54

I am feeling better already!

DD may appear on the thread as I sent her a link!

I once bought clockwork goldfish and real goldfish bowls for my sons in law at Christmas; I thought was funny after a few drinks but they were not well received by two 40 year old men.
I also bought handfuls of plastic necklaces from a stall at the Good Food Show (after a wine tasting session). I thought they’d make great Christmas presents until I sobered up and saw them as the lurid plastic tat they really were.
I also bought a case of bottles of sherry cocktails at the same show, not thinking about the nightmare of carrying them home on the train and then finding they tasted disgusting- nothing like the delicious drinks I’d thought they were after a few too many large glasses of sloe gin.
edited for grammar

I drunkenly decided I wanted a dog but I had enough sense to look into dog fostering first. I managed to fill in several fostering enquiry forms on line and then spent the next 3 weeks fending off calls from child fostering agencies.

I had to explain each time that sorry, I wanted to foster a dog not a baby (I didn’t mention the being drunk part).

Not drunk, but I take zoplicone for insomnia and have bought some utter shit whilst waiting for it to kick in.

Also, I once bought a wedding dress by mistake. I know that sounds ridiculous but it was going for £14 and I felt sorry for them and put in a bid of £20 in to boost it, then forgot about it until I realised I'd 'won' the auction on Ebay. I paid £18 for a full length proper traditional wedding dress.

I've also had several things that are nowhere near the size I expected them to be because I tend to look at the picture. I once bought my friend a 'disappointing notebook' for Christmas because I'd assumed it was A5 size and when it came it was like a small book of matches..

I also ordered 6 different pairs of poppy earrings for Remembrance Day and didn't like any of them when they came.

Temu was the worst invention for drunk me. I recent bought some bead bauble kit things and they came with a fuck ton of beads, some wire and no pattern or picture so 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh me too! I ordered what I thought was a lovely little knitted mouse in clothes. It came as loose wool and a QR code to a crochet pattern. I can't crochet.

(I also don't know how to access QR codes)

A really horrible wardrobe that I regretted every time I looked at it for years. It wasn't wood, but I was so tipsy I thought it was. It was some sort of laminate woodish looking plasticky material and lasted forever.

Surely most people's ridiculous drunk purchases are even more alcohol?

Beetlebum1981 · 09/10/2026 20:10

A friend/colleague of DH’s bought a small boat on eBay whilst drunk when in their early 20’s.

My previous downstairs neighbour ordered a micro pig and a pair of flip flops shaped like fish during a very drunken lockdown drinking session. Fortunately she managed to cancel the pig.

Coldiron · 09/10/2026 20:13

Not strictly a purchase but I signed up to a monthly direct debit charity donation to a donkey sanctuary whilst slightly the worse for wear

You2andu · 09/10/2026 20:16

Before our daughter we drunkenly booked a sandals holiday to St Lucia …..cost around 8k

My daughter has a pair for fish flops in bright pink/orange! They are fucking hideous, but she loves them. Her father bought them for her, I cannot claim any credit, but for some reason they have to live in my house not his.

Dh and I booked a family holiday to Greece at 3am on new year’s day… I’d been researching so wasn’t totally random but it was expensive and New Year’s Day was £500 cheaper than I’d seen it so dh and I had a fuck it moment and booked. Great decision to be honest 😆

Iheartmysmart · 09/10/2026 20:19

They sound like the same ones my neighbour bought @PyongyangKipperbang They were indeed fucking hideous.
