Conversation about drunk shopping and I mentioned that I once ordered racing sprouts and a sudoku rubiks cube just before Xmas about 18 years ago!

DD is adamant that no one does stuff like that. I need you to help me prove her wrong!

Not drunk, but I take zoplicone for insomnia and have bought some utter shit whilst waiting for it to kick in.

Also, I once bought a wedding dress by mistake. I know that sounds ridiculous but it was going for £14 and I felt sorry for them and put in a bid of £20 in to boost it, then forgot about it until I realised I'd 'won' the auction on Ebay. I paid £18 for a full length proper traditional wedding dress.

I've also had several things that are nowhere near the size I expected them to be because I tend to look at the picture. I once bought my friend a 'disappointing notebook' for Christmas because I'd assumed it was A5 size and when it came it was like a small book of matches..

I also ordered 6 different pairs of poppy earrings for Remembrance Day and didn't like any of them when they came.

I had the same tablets for a week and I spend about £600 in that week. I bought lots of random shit too but I was completely unaware. Through the week I had some packages arriving with no idea what was in them. I got 10 dettol soaps, 2 large suitcases, 3 electric toothbrushes, 6 large packs of incontinence pads ( I’m not incontinent ), luxury dog bed ( I don’t have a dog ), a lot of skincare products and I also hired a carpet cleaning machine ( I only knew because I got the reminder email to pick it up )

@PyongyangKipperbangI do not want to know my total Lego bill but that was the most in one single set.

I justified it to myself that it was Lego Insiders day and I got double points 😆

Pictures of Meatloaf off Ebay (may he rest in peace).

I arrived home after a lunchtime session at work - a leaving do (it was the 80s) and proudly presented my exH with a hamster, a cage and a bag of hamster food.

He had asked me to pick up some bread on my way home. I forgot the bread.

A car 😳 lockdown, bored, too much wine. They delivered.

🤣

JellIa · 09/10/2026 22:16

A six month bread subscription! Four loaves of frozen and par baked sourdough arrived every month via courier.

I was so, so confused when the first delivery arrived.

Many years ago my (very wealthy) aunt got pissed at the Chelsea flower show and bought one of those wooden roundhouse dining table hut things to the tune of £13k. Clean forgot until it turned up on the back of a lorry a few weeks later. TBF she's still got it and it does look cracking in her garden.

When I was a poor undergraduate, I used to frequently eat a particular type of ramen noodles. They are the Mama Pa-Lo Duck flavor. Quite spicy.
After a long evening, I was in bed and began to think quite how good those noodles used to taste. It must have been 15 years since I had last had them. They are absolute junk, but something about that combination of spicy, super-salty, savory is JUST the thing after a few too many glasses of anything.
A few days later, a very large box appeared. I was puzzled. What could it possibly be?
600 packets of Mama duck ramen.
600!!!!

(They taste as good as I remember. I have one about once a week as I feel slightly ill afterwards and my ankles swell with all the salt. My husband, who has much more sophisticated tastes than mine, says they are disgusting. Only about 450 packets left).

Unicycle - New Year’s Eve 2018.

I am fairly sure you have posted about this before! If not, there are two unicycle loving lunatics on MN!

ETA I really want there to be two of you!

During lockdown, everyone's socks and pants were full of holes so went online to order new. Cue complete surprise, full set of garden furniture. In fairness it was an absolute bargain and is still going strong. I no longer tipsy surf.

Oh me too! I ordered what I thought was a lovely little knitted mouse in clothes. It came as loose wool and a QR code to a crochet pattern. I can't crochet.

(I also don't know how to access QR codes)

Just hover your phone camera over it. A website link will pop up. Click and it takes you to the web page.

QR codes are a quick way to access certain websites.

A sewing machine, while having a lot of wine while watching Sewing Bee. Never once used it.

Love this

Panic buying in lockdown, by any chance?

Notadream · 09/10/2026 22:55

Gig tickets. So many gig tickets. For midweek events soooo far from where I live. Needless to say that a lot of them ended up being advertised the week before on Facebook as I couldn’t afford to get there, stay overnight or take the time off work.

murasaki · 09/10/2026 22:59

Two sets of roller blades for me and dp during lockdown. Still box fresh, must sell them.

An electronic piano, but to be fair while I was surprised when it turned up, I don't regret it.

I once woke up and saw I'd spent £50 I couldn't account for. I'd randomly sent it to someone who found some homeless rabbits in L.A. and had made an go fund me.
At least it went to a good cause 🐰

🤣🤣🤣🤣. brilliant!!

YewNork · 09/10/2026 23:11

A ‘vintage’ Plymouth Argyle football shirt. Men’s size XL.
Don’t support them. Don’t even live in Plymouth or near Plymouth. Didn’t know anybody from Plymouth. Had no connection to Plymouth. Just liked the style and colours.

Few months later I started dating a man (now my husband!) from Devon, who happened to support Argyle. His birthday fell on our 8th date. You can guess what his present was… 😃

RumPidgeon · 09/10/2026 23:17

Not a purchase really but I once felt buoyed by a few glasses of red and entered a half marathon believing it to be about 13 months away. When I awoke the next morning I got an email saying „Congratulations RumPidgeon“ you have 3 weeks till the race“. Turns out I entered the wrong fucking year!! I literally spat my coffee out and trained as much as possible to complete it. (I have never been much of a runner but am into resistance training and hiking). I won’t be repeating this…🤣
